Fair enough punts - 9/2 will probably look good if they come for it - but as a filthy EW punter (at least that was the purpose of this specific thread) I won't risk 2 steaks (win and place) on a FTO - even from the Haggas yard (although I agree with you - they are more reliable than most FTO). I have time for each of the five trainers at the bottom end of the market and five/six "lurkers" in an eight horse race, is just too many for me. The non-runner potential just kills EW anyway (for this thread).

My typical horsey MO is Plaice Laying in Handicaps only - but if I look at this Novice Stakes race for much longer I'm going to end up Plaice Laying The Circus ShockedShocked

Yes.. or it could drift to 8/1 and then you'll know I'm fooked Laugh

Please stop trying to encourage me Jon ffs - you know I am weak willed! Laugh

No strict rules - but I try to avoid the Irish unless it's exceptional. Looked at this 16:15 race as well as the 14:00 Ayr and 18:30 Chelms but I wasn't tempted enough. Also slightly embarrassed to admit - I have never heard of that trainer in the 16:15 - although her runner does appeal in terms of the betting shape.

No worries - well done! (through gritted teeth) WinkLaugh

Aftertiming I know - but I managed to Plaice lay a bit of The Circus at 1.80 and then went in again at 1.68 - but obviously that is no good for the thread (no thread bets) which is still floundering!

I know she's a filly - but if a hood, tongue-tie, eye-shields cheek-pieces and visor all fail on The Circus - she could find herself getting gelded imo! BlushGrin

LOL Management... Gosden can usually find a race for them..

Glad I read your thread as I prob would have missed that winner.

Please keep posting your thoughts.. We need more of that round here!

Cheers punts - I intend to keep the thread going at least until it turns a profit so should be around for a while! Whoops

In all fairness it was Jonmh that flagged the race (16;10) - I really just said I didn't like the 3rd in the betting! - but I'll take credit wherever I can get it at the moment. WD, GL.

Busy morning here Jon - you are an early bird! - I had a glance last night and asterixed the race but really just looking properly now - but I'm with you on Egrecio as an EW single if 8 run. Fascinating race imo as I have been involved each-way in some of it's previous races and also in many of Model Guest's races.

Model Guest is my most favourite 18 race maiden Love (even Hollie was foiled twice at short prices!) as she often takes up a nice chunk of the market but at the same time is pretty reliable/consistent. There must be some sort of potential for a Jockey record with her imo - Today's will be the 14th different pilot she has had in 19 races I think! I have to go out again shortly but will post again before racing. GL

Ffs - I wrote what unexpectedly turned into a short book and then lost the feckin lot before I could post it! - luckily for you lot I can't be bothered to type it all out again!!! So a very summarised version is this:

15:30 Catt: Egrecio - EW single (if 8 look like running!)
16:35 Catt: Daleelaty - EW single - and it's not just because it's got a fish in it's name!
18:40 Kemp: Fiesta De Vega - EW single

I really can't be bothered to rewrite all of my rationale for these bets or the ones I eventually dodged in the 13:00, 13:20, 14:20, and 16:00.

GL Filthy Plaice Bettor and fish punsters! - Hopefully we will be able to Oyster flag to some winners and Rays a glass in celebration Cry (I'll get me coat!).

Thank you Management, appreciate the effort. This plaice betting is new to me and making me flounder.

I don't wish to come across as a stickleback or pariah or anything - I just genuinely need schooling. Egrecio for example, is on BF at an EW price of 3.35 right now. So, if I bet each way, would it not have to win for me to make a profit? A plaice at that price at EW would lose money. Would it not be better to simply put a plaice bet on?

What am I missing? Genuine question, not bait to catch you out.

Hi hba - I am gonna be busy for a few hours but don't take the 3.35 EW on here - have a look around for 11/4 or even 3/1! - but as I said - beware the late NR!

To understand the thread/filthy EW betting - Have a look a the 13:00 and 13;20 that I very skilfully chose not put up on the thread in the end! CryCryCry Feck!!!!!

In the 13:00 (over time) backing The shunter (say £5 each way) will (for various reasons) win you a lot more money than having £10 win on Tullybeg. Ignore the names and that race specifically - focus on the prices and the price that you are getting for the PLAICE in this type of race!!

Same in the 13:20 which I equally skilfully chose not to put on the thread after much deliberation!!!  CryCryCryCryCry Double Feck!! You don't have to bet at all but faced with a choice of (say £5) ew on Mirage Mac or £10 win on Hajoos - which approach would win you money long term??

I think (like the last time I tried to do a filthy each-way thread) I am jinxed and doomed to failure for the selections I put up on the thread - but I had a small tickle on both those races - it would have been rude (mathmatically) not to.

If the book I wrote earlier - didn't get deleted by accident  - I would have given my thoughts on the 13:00 and the 13:20 - both of which were very close to being a thread bet! Alas the forum curse ha me in it's grip I think. Cry GL my friend.

Model Guest shortening as though somebody has been betting Martingale stakes on it! LaughLaughLaugh
19th time lucky? - could well be - but 7/4? - No thanks!

I do love her though for all the betting opportunities she has presented - both as a lay and as a Plaice back/Multi Plaice Banker.

Daleelaty - backed as though defeat was out of the question - but missed the break and then ridden by Dane like he had layed it or thought it was a mile race! Cry

On the plus side - it looks like Heather/Shane landed a touch with the winner - and they seem like very lovely people Cry

Yesterday was pretty frustrating for the Thread with the discarded races (especially the 13:00 & 13:20) going spectacularly well and turning a huge profit - while the selected races just produced three second places! Cry

15:30 Catt: Egrecio - EW single  2nd 11/4
16:35 Catt: Daleelaty - EW single   2nd 7/4 (7/2 when given and advised to take 3/1)
18:40 Kemp: Fiesta De Vega - EW single
2nd 10/3

I'm not convinced anyone else is reading this anyway - but hope a few people might have thought about laying Model Guest at crazy low prices.

I'm with you on the selections today Jon - but out all day now with a family commitment:

13:05 Newb: Aerion Power Each Way Single: (plenty available at around 4.30+ in BF EW market at time of writing) - that seems a fair price as 3/1 at best with books - Mithras looks really solid imo and there is quite a bit of depth to the race (Trainer wise) but the front two set quite a high bar - both once raced - but JG's 2YO's usually ready to do themselves some kind of justice FTO and Stoute's are very rarely ready FTO (imo), so hopefully not too much between them as they both race for the second time today.
17:45 Wolv: Marching Army Each Way Single: Market hasn't really developed yet so taking 3/1. I know it's FTO and the fav looks a cert - but it doesn't look like a deep race at all and the maths make it pretty tough to pass up.

Good luck Filthy Friends and Plaice People, I'm off to the real world now!

Not much to be said about yesterday's thread selections really - it was a proper horror show!

13:05: The odds-on fav finished out of the frame (a well beaten 4th) - but the selection finishes a head behind it!
17:45: Got what I deserved for selecting a FTO runner and doubly so for selecting it way in advance of the market forming.

Too disheartened to even bother with any fish puns - I am whel kut up!

Just the Sole selection today:

13:00 Chelm: Decisive Edge Each way Single (9/2 if you can get it!).
15:10 Ham: Was obviously a potentially interesting race but simplified by the Non-runner.

Yesterday total: -4.00
Thread running total: -7.47 - I have lost a Jumbo!

Thanks Jon - one for the good guys (at last!) - I have no doubt you were on!

It should have been the foundation/banker of some EW multiples really (1.90 about a 1.25 shot to Plaice) - but the NR in the 15:10 and a real scarcity of Non-handicaps today prevented it. Plus I really wanted to get a few squid up from the EW singles before getting into the ew multis - so it could be a long wait!

I'm still a bit gutted about not putting Mirage Mac up as a thread bet (13:20 Newbury on Friday) - it was so close to being one! - I would bet my last rolo that you were on it!

Just kidding - 5/1 was an incredible price (for the structure of that race) - could have lived with missing out on a 7/2 winner but 5/1 was proper annoying. I did very well indeed that day - but Mirage Mac should have been on the thread as an EW single!

Nothing on the filthy EW/Plaice betting for me today,

17:15 Listowel: the Irish bumper is a "tempter" on betting shape alone - (Jesse Evans EW) - but I can resist it for various reasons.
17:00 Wolver: Looked potentially very good last night - but the Tissue/Early prices aren't there anymore (if ever). The fav (Isle of May) has enough question marks (imo) that I might have been tempted to oppose her with Eastern Delight EW at 5/2+ but that hasn't materialised and at time of writing it looks like ED might even go off fav!. Will keep an eye on the market running up to race time - but not convinced (enough) that it is just a two horse race, to get involved EW at a really short price.

GL Plaice bettors and EW thieves.
