Sorry ^^ 16:10 race at Down Royal - not 16:00!
By:
Well - that won doing handstands - but got the price right and the win lay seemed better value than the (very poor imo) prices available on the Each-Way alternatives.
A bit unlucky not to get any place stakes back in 14:32 Ascot - but I was more fortunate than the poor horse (RIP - Addis Ababa). So -3.00 for the day so far - heading into the proper racing on the Tapeta tonight! ![]() |
By:
Back to the real world - I have backed Galahad Threepwood (20.00 Wolverhampton) Each Way at an average of about 4.40.
I have sat and watched the price in the 20:30 (Marietty) slowly evaporate, so won't be playing that race unless something drastic happens in the betting. |
By:
Well - something drastic has happened - Marietty is now the very short priced Fav and the one I was initially looking to oppose (Love Love) has lost a leg and drifted to an Each Wayable price!
I am very wary of the drift and the 493 day break, so it could run a real stinker and be unplaced. Plus that pesky Andrew in Sweden (has laid it ) and I respect his opinion. However the race doesn't look too deep to me, everything has a price and the maths is the maths:I have backed Love Love EW of 3.35 win and 1.40 place (due to lack of liquidity in the EW market). GL filthsters. |
By:
The day ended much better than it started - I should have avoided the twig-hoppers and stuck to my beloved All Weather!
I think I have a 5% deduction on my Love Love win bet and 17.5% (ffs) on the Plaice element. I will work out thread P&L in the morning (I'm frazzled) - but Tapeta bets on their own would have been a lot prettier! GL. |

Good evening TM and all. Been busy the last couple of days, some of us still work for a living, and this is just a side issue!.
Nice to see you all had a good couple of days, I had a good day yesterday with that second horse behind superstar Envoi Allen turning an average day into a decent winning one (sometimes those 2 place races are still great theft races!). Tomorrow looks okayish with 12.15, 1.18 Hun, and 3.53, 4.25 Cork and poss 1.03 Car being of interest. Keep up the good work !!! |

Good Morning Biff - you need to have a long, hard think about your priorities imo - letting that work lark interfere with your betting activity is completely unacceptable!
![]() I'm up for a bit of action when there are only two places (I like one quarter the odds for a place!). I actually think I prefer a small field as there is a better chance of a false run or tactical race (which is likely a good thing if you are opposing the "best" horse). Not keen on 5 runners though due to risk of late NR and ending up "All on to Win" on a horse that I would not have backed win only. From memory though, the race you are referring to - as well as 5 runners, I think I wasn't 100% happy to discount the lightly raced stablemate of the odds-on fav. i.e. I thought it might technically be a 3 horse race for two places or much more likely a two horse race for second place so to speak. Nice result for you though. I guess those races (seriously long odds on) are pretty good for a straightforward trade. I'm probably being too conservative - but I have looked at quite a few races today (12:15,13:05,13:10, 13:18,13:42 & 16:25) and I think I will take the day off. The 12:15 is probably the most tempting but I don't like claiming races much. I could probably have been led astray (usually by Jon!) and played a couple of races today - but in addition, the Senior Management Team have advised me that my presence is required elsewhere all day - and experience has taught me that it's best to just do what she says! GL to all you filthsters and fish punsters - catch you Monday. |
By:
Well done on Love Love TM. If i'd had my wits about me I could have ended up with a two bet.
Just two for me today and probably dirt rather than filth. 1.10 Cork Indiana Jones . Missed the 4s, on at 3s 1.18 Hunt Who What When 9/4. GL if playing today. |
By:
Winner and a plaice. Happy with that lets see what Monday brings.

By:
Morning all. Going to be out all day so i've needed to play early.
12.20 Plumpton I've two bet Spring Run and peace prevails ew 3/1 and 100/30. 12.50 Plumpton Blame the game ew 11/4. 1.40 Hereford A Distant Place ew 11/4. 5.20 Wolves Mashaan ew 9/4. Not ideal but needs must. Some filth, some just dirt. GL today everyone. |
By:
Really worried about the ground for both Peace Prevails and Spring Run .......Plumpton a really taxing track ...had a few quid on Emmpressive Lady at about 80 ,,,the fact she started favourite for a decent Chepstow Bumper in January is surely significant ....
By:
Ok here"s my grimy selections for today 12-20 Plumpers , i"ve got Jungle Prose @ about 9/1 each way and as i"ve before Emmpresive Lady at massive...12-50 on Commotion win & place at 8-1 win & 1.96 place .....At Hereford ,Hurricane Mitch my only genuinely filthy selection in the 12-40 ......and ive actually backed JonJO in the 1-40 Distant Place .............It"ll SALMON FOR TEA if a few of those win

By:
Mashaan 5.20 Wolves I agree Jon is the catch of the day
By:
Running way here. I agree with Jon and 37+73 on the 17:20 later.
Will have to play as I go today on any, some, or none of the following races: 12:20, 12:40, 12:50, 13:40 and 14:10. |
By:
^ Running way late...
By:
Swerving the 12:20 and the 12:40. GL all.
By:
Swerved the 12:50 - was considering EW on BF (still 3 places in EW market) - but swerved.
By:
An annoying missed opportunity (swerving the 12:50) but would only have done it on BF EW market (still paying for 3 places) and had completely missed the boat on price in that market.
Swerving the 13:40 now too, as it would need to be a two-bet imo and not convinced it's worthy of that - in the context of the race and the prices - I think there will be better opportunities. Plus that should give Jon a chance of the hattrick! GL. |
By:
Swerving the 14:10.
So likely just the 17:20 at Wolves for me today. I will try to get more organised and revert to posting like a normal person from tomorrow! |
By:
I have now bet Maashan EW in the 17:20 at Wolverhampton at 3/1 for a full stake.
And as a massive bonus - I also got a whole Four English Pounds matched in the BF EW market at 4.20! - Although it's convenient and unrestricted - I really don't know why I bother with the EW market on here! |
By:
oh my COD...just got GUPPYed !!!
By:
Yes - thought we were good there for a while but not to be. I screwed up on the price (again!) but happy enough with that - it was matched at 1.1x in-running (although none of it was mine!). Could have considered a two-bet - if in my wildest dreams I thought the fav would be that short when first looking at the race - but was happy with just the one selection - not to be today - but hit the crossbar imo.

Jon has had another good day - a couple of winners and a couple of seconds from just 5 selections I think.
I should probably just be betting blind EW on all of Skip & Jon selections - but the slow drip fills the bucket - and all that! Catch up with you tomorrow. GL. |
By:
Well done Jon. Maashan looked all over the winner but the eventual victor picked up the pieces after the battle with the favourite.
By:
Cheers fellas. Yep I thought we were on the winner there but still a decent day.
Not sure about today though. 1.55 Exeter I'm going to have a small bet on Runswick Bay ew (It's a lovely little spot by the way if you are ever in North Yorks). 4.33 Sth I quite like the shape of the market but none of the horses. Dead 8. 2.15 Fair Fakera looked ok last time but has to overcome the lay off and I can never get the yard right. Not sure what to make of Clondaw Bertie's last run. Just Runswick Bay for now and I'll probably play the 2.15 one way or another. GL. |
By:
Morning Jon - I have looked at the 13:55 at Exeter, the 13:45 & 14:15 at Fairyhouse and the 16:33 at Southwell - I also potentially like a couple of races this evening at Newcastle 17:45 & 19:45. Like you (I suspect) though, I am only finding any of those races just kind of "mildly dusty" on the filthyness scale!
I'm a tiny bit tempted to play the lot! - but it's been a real slog to get to just 16 points ahead on my thread bets (after such a poor start) and looking back, it's the filth that has payed its way and the "tempters" that have let me down. None of todays races leap of the page (like all good filth should) and I much prefer the flat (especially AW) than the jumps. So I am going to pass on all of the daytime/jumps races and see what the only slightly more tempting two races at Newcastle (17:45 & 19:45) and one at Southwell (16:33) look like nearer the time. GL. |
By:
Swerved the 16:33 Southwell - was too greedy and missed the prices.
By:
![]() |
By:
Swerved the 17:45 at Newcastle too now and will also swerve the 19:45 for thread bets - so nothing today for me. Catch up tomorrow.

Horse Racing / 17:45 Newcastle / Each Way
Tenaya Canyon Back 215735680xxx 03-Nov-20 17:42 4.5 50.00 4.5 03-Nov-20 17:42 Refusing to select them as thread bets - is like giving them a 10 length head start! I still managed to feck up the price again though. |
By:
^^^ The 4.50 was before the late withdrawal of Stonegarth - ended up with 3.82 after the deduction.
By:
The horse that I won't be betting EW as a thread bet in the 19:45 at Newcastle is the totally friendless in the market Rayyan. The price I haven't bet it at EW is 4/1.
![]() ![]() It's not filthy - but neither were the 16:33 or the 17:45 and I managed to swerve putting both those winners up as thread bets. |
By:
In all seriousness - I won't be counting this ^^^^ (whatever the outcome) as a thread bet on the thread P&L - but I'm sick of swerving the winners on the slightly more speculative races that aren't quite filthy enough - and 4/1+ seems big - even though I don't much like the jockey or the draw. GL.
By:
![]() good to know the forum curse works both ways!Pulled more than Brad Pitt, coupled with a poor draw and an element of being a complete non-jigger (imo). |
By:
I think it could be a day on the sidelines for me today. I can't see much at all.
By:
Good afternoon Jon - I agree - nothing very filthy about todays cards at all.
By:
Morning all. It looks a bit thin again today.
So far i've had one bet and it's dirt not filth. 1.22 Thurles Botani ew at 5/2. I was interested in Salt Wind in the last at Thurles but the odds on fav has been pulled out so that's the end of that. I'm going to keep an eye on the 12.10 at Sedgy in the hope that one of the front two drift and become backable. Other than that there's the 5.30 at Kemp but Gosden's is FTO and the Stoute horse didn't look anything out of he ordinary. Another thin day I think |
By:
1.22 may end us a a two bet
By:
Either my keyboard or my sausage fingers are Donald Ducked. 1.22 may end up as a two bet.
