CDA was first past the post in the Prix Dollar but loses the race due to interference.

Free Eagle looks way too short - bolted up first time out in an Irish G3 - form not to be trusted.
|
|
By:
Definitely a case of hype over substance. I'd not be surprised if they hold him back for next season despite what the trainer has said.

I've had a small bet of ROTW at 32 just in case Oz goes for the QE11. Did the double last year and nearly pulled it off in this one.

wonder what ground Australia will turn up on ??

Trying to second guess AOB is the quick way to the mad house.

Any cut in the ground and almost a cert not to run,not convinced they will want to take on TGG again?
|
|
By:
I would be amazed if they did not run on Good to Soft tbh. It would basically mean the end of his season/career otherwise unless they went to the Breeders Cup.
|

By:
Free Eagle is a confirmed runner now.
|

By:
don't think Australia will turn up .. go to America, get his ground.

just looks very unsettled ..

^ Agree entirely fozwald.
Weather forecast is definitely pretty wet this week (especially today) and given it was already soft on Saturday there will surely be plenty of juice. CDA looks a penalty kick e/w and Noble Mission is a great back to lay in running as he will surely try to kick clear and win it from the front so could trade pretty short even if he doesn't win. |

FREE EAGLE is set to step up into Group 1 company for the first time with trainer Dermot Weld saying the colt is on target for the Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot later this month.
RELATED LINKS Card and betting Moyglare Stud's son of High Chaparral returned from over a year off the racecourse with a hugely impressive win in the Group 3 Enterprise Stakes at Leopardstown on Irish Champions Weekend and he could now take on the likes of Australia and Cirrus Des Aigles on October 18. "He's in good form, I'm pleased with him and the Champion Stakes looks the logical way to go with him," Weld told At The Races. "He's a very talented colt and please god we'll keep him right for his next race." Asked if Free Eagle was likely to stay in training next season, Weld added: "If everything goes well and he comes out of his next race okay, that would be the plan." |

I am starting to lean towards CDA in the race. The horse form this year stands up to alot of scrutiny, a neck defeat of the Arc winner and the beating of the Arc runner up at Epsom looks fine to me. One of the three year olds might well be better than him now but I can't see more than one beating him. Always felt that 10f brings out the best in him and if its fairly soft could see Australia sent somewhere else. The 9/2 is gone now but 4/1 e/w seems a bet to nothing. I would be interested in Kingston Hill if he were definately going to run and the ground comes up soft as I think raced from the front he could be a threat.

any idea if ectot will turn up?

Western Hymn would n't be without a chance if the ground is soft, I'm not a great one for collateral form but his Prix Eugene Adam win stands up very well on a line through Shamkiyr to The Grey Gatsby although Shamkiyr probably did n't give of his best that day.
WH did get beaten subsequently but that was a messy race on desperate ground. His current price is no more than fair but he might be of some interest on the day depending on the ground and who else turns up. He's now Gosden's only entry as well. As others have said though, it's virtually impossible to have a bet on this because the ground will have such a bearing on who turns up, I know it's forecast wet this week but if it were dry next week the picture would change. |
|
By:
I have backed Cirrus Des Aigles at 4/1. Barring accidents he should turn up and any ground he is likely to encounter he will go on.
The Grey Gatsby would be a big danger if he runs ,he has not received the plaudits due to him for his win in Ireland. On soft ground Kingston Hill is expected to improve but the assumed improvement may be negated by the shorter trip.I am looking forward to this race. |

Does anyone know what Michael Tabor has in tomorrow RP re Australia as he seems to be drifting for both races on here..
|
|
By:
* has said
|
|
By:
Yeah maybe he implies that if its soft he won't run. I was wondering the same myself. Unfortunately its impossible to get more than a bean on the race with the bookmakers and the markets here are very weak which is frustrating.
|
|
By:
I'm sure if it's soft he won't run .. I'd have thought that was obvious !? .. he'd prob be beaten, and w America a penalty kick on his ideal ground .. i'm not a genius but .. ??
|
|
By:
It was G/S in Leopardstown the day he beat Free Eagle, so he's not completely dependent, as should be obvious by his athleticism anyway, but properly soft he wouldn't go.

MICHAEL TABOR is hoping the softening ground will not stop Australia turning up at British racing's glamorous climax to the Flat season in ten days' time as he revealed there is no plan B beyond Ascot for the Epsom and Irish Derby winner.
Tabor told the Racing Post on Tuesday he believed Qipco Champions Day "is becoming one of the great occasions" and is ready to consider the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes over a mile as an alternative to the British Champion Stakes for the son of Galileo. Part-owner Tabor said: "Hopefully Australia will go to Ascot. We haven't discussed it, but I haven't heard he doesn't and there is no plan B, as I'm aware. It may be soft at Ascot now but at this time of year it can be firm one day and soft a couple of days later. It wouldn't worry us if he were to tackle the QEII instead of the Champion Stakes, as he has plenty of gears." If he were to switch to the shorter option, for which he is quoted at 5-4 with a run by Paddy Power, Australia would be competing at a mile for the first time since his reappearance in May, when he finished third in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket. Go for the QE11 Michael. You now it makes sense. Run ROTW in the Champion. |

By:
The weather leading up to Champions day looked fairly mixed but the best guess seemed like at least another 3 days of rain minimum between now and next Saturday. Although the Thursday and Friday are expected to be dry at the moment according to the 10 day forecasts I have seen. They will have needed to have made up their minds by then in any case.

Very disappointing news from Tabor.

Does Anyone know if CDA confirmed on ideal ground at perfect distance?
|
|
By:
The trainer of CDA was interviewed by ATR on Monday morning virtually confirming that CDA was going to run given the forecast and his record in the race. It sounded like a done deal to me, she said she was hoping for some rain and then a nice sunny day come Saturday so everyone could enjoy it

At this moment ,when many of us presumed we could not fail in the middle distance races at the Breeders,we have not a lot of interest?

By:
Taking on an aged CDA,is interesting but does not do it for me.
|
|
By:
ok Metro John .. well hopefully Tabor is just ramping the BCD thing ... not conceding in public this early that the Breeders' is on the cards.
He did say after the International "John wants to go to Leopardstown, obviously, and then there's Ascot .. and maybe one more race ... but I doubt it" ... hopefully it's on the cards. It would be utterly ridiculous to have pulled him from a winnable Arc on his ground, ignore the Breeders' and then run him in the soft against CDA ... that would be beyond belief ... but nothing would surprise me tbh |
|
By:
The again, how they've campaigned two Classic winners in Magician and Chicquita also defies belief

It is good to hear others questioning Coolmore's ability to successfully manage the horses in their care. Too many mistakes are made and top races are rammed with horses where only one or two will run. We then end up with the ridiculous sight of running a fragile filly in atotally unsuitable race before supplementing her for the Arc. In the Champion Stakes Coolmore have at least 5 entries yet with just over a week to go no-one knows what is likely to run. Every other top trainer has a single entry.
|
|
By:
In the Racing Post Trophy there are 39 entrants with 13 of them from Coolmore. It is ludicrous. Very few will run and the rest will probably never be heard of again.

You see, many of us do old similar views, those spectators who pay through the gates want to witness the best, taking on the best, in the best races,we like variety and tradition,it appears the Breeding industry is getting in the way of the sport presenting itself in a much better light?
