has that run in the 3 o'clock inproved classic coloris chance? had this tipped for this race before its first run.

drifting 44s now

It will be interesting to see how they all go at the Curragh today. Cape Blanco could be a mover after today, I see Lads don't quote him for the Derby at the moment, just the Guineas..
By:
Cape Blanco already a mover today for the 2000G.

Push
Someones had a £5 on with Blue Sq ;) |

"Steinbeck had a small training setback" was announced on ATR weeks ago apparently.
By:
if previous yrs to go by they just saunter round on the bridle in theses after racing spins.
That said i did have a winner from them when Stately Home won on his debut after"winning" his gallop. |
By:
As I have said many times Push,Steinbeck is and always has been fragile and was the perfect hype horse for Coolmore.
By:
If Steinbeck were to win a Grp 1 race this year, would you still be calling him a HYPE horse ? ( PD ).
By:
Not really Push, its poss' for him to win something like the Sussex but in no way is he a English Gns horse, they can set up the Irish for him if they want to.They will go down the TC route IF IF SNA wins at HQ.

Interested in a couple here, Cape Blanco & Fencing Master
By:
Alfred Nobel was the big eyecatcher.
By:
CB looks like a he needs a mile+
By:
what happend?
By:
cape blanco ridden along didnt pick up fencing master ridden but ended up in front
Alfred Nobel tanked never came off bit & worked all ove Dewhust 1st & 3rd & Cape Blanco. |
By:
Cape Blanco hates the ground and looking at him move on the way to post I'm amazed he can go a yard on it. If its not at least good at Newmarket he won't run anyway but he's far from certain to stay the Derby trip on pedigree. What a fantastic looker though. SNA showed the same dash as last year, he's just a machine but I was particularly impressed by Mikhail Glinka there and also Fencing Master was encouraging as he too wouldn't have liked that ground. Imo, Alfred Nobel is a sprinter and that's why he worked so well in comparison to the others. Beethoven could be in danger of being under-rated, he moved great there.
By:
Flying Cross seems to hit the ground hard in his action, I had him on my shortlist but that style of running was a bit off putting
By:
i always wonder why people get obsessed with this race when none of us really have a clue how horses have trained on from 2 to 3. it all seems fairly random to me. either st nick abbey will hose up on the snaff, or he doesnt, in which case you might as well stick a pin in the field.
watching race for me. |
By:
People want the chance to get on a "sure thing" at a good price hence obession with work watching and gallops. Nashwan was the classic example of this had done nothign on the racecouse but bevame hot favourite for the Guineas. Henry Cecil's Desert Sun was another but that turned out to be useless.
By:
yeah exactly, one decent example in last twenty years
what i tend to find works well for the guineas, is to look at the breeding, you need horses that stay further than a mile as many flashy types will get punted in but will fail to stay the trip |
By:
Kingsfort is now out as well.
Simon Crisford did give a good word for Poets Voice so I'm still dreaming :) |
By:
Poet's Voice is not out of it by any means on the basis that he may have learnt to settle and that could be the key to him. What about Workforce? His debut performance was unreal and he looks such a strong colt by the king of all Guineas winners. If he wins the Craven his price will collapse..

Someone at work told me today that Canford Cliffs odds have dropped significantly lately as the Hannon camp are delighted with the way the horse has trained on throughout the winter and filled out. Apparently they heard it on ATR. As I work during the day I don't often have the chance to see much of ATR during the week. Did anybody else hear the comments or see the Hannon interview. The guy said he only caught the tail end of it. Would be interested to hear peoples views if indeed they saw it on ATR.
By:
Thought there must have been some substance to their enthusiasm as Canfors odds have dropped signifcantly from near 11s to 8s but St Nick haven't dropped so much. Surely more to it than Steinbeck not been able to take part.
By:
Honestly mate, I couldn't not back him based on talent but it's stamina I don't know about and the Hannon camp are guessing as much as you and I on that front, good luck.
By:
To date Tagula has got nothing at all with the class to win the guineas so unless he goes beyond all others by his cheap fast sire I cant see him winning,6/7f I guess is his trip and at GR2 level may be a GR1 place.
By:
Paddys offered 7/1 on SNA doing the Guineas and Derby double. St Nick cut from 7s to 9/2 with Paddys for same double today.
By:
With that news sounds like they like him, take SNA out of the GNS you could say its a weak one,as ive said before a piece of p1ss for him to win.
By:
Something may improve considerably over the winter, just like STS did, not the most obvious Guineas winner from his 2yo form.
By:
Not the most current route I agree, but one thing stands out a mile CLASS not to mention a real turn of foot.
By:
Remember the 1000 Guineas last year :|
By:
I remember her too,and you do have a point Ben10,but imo Filly's form is not as reliable as the colts.
By:
Agree with that
By:
What about Inler? He's a beauty from what I remember and is bred to get the trip..
By:
With regards to Inler hes now a crazy price based on his achievement to date & even taken into consideration his supposed terrific gallop with some channon inmates.
he won his maiden readily but so did the 10 that finished strung out like wahing behind SNA. |
By:
Reckon this fella is having his English 2000 Guineas chance sacrificed at the alter of the Coolmore breeding operation. We can have situations with this mob where their best miler may not win THE Guineas.
O'Brien told his website, www.aidanobrien.ie: "Our most likely runners for the StanJames.com 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on Saturday May 1 will hopefully come from the following horses; St Nicholas Abbey, Viscount Nelson, Fencing Master and Beethoven. "It is unfortunate that Steinbeck is going to miss the StanJames.com 2000 Guineas. "He has done really well and we are very excited about him. Hopefully he will restart in the Abu Dhabi Irish 2000 Guineas on Saturday May 22 at the Curragh." |

Kirk, you dont seem to think SNA will cruise off a true run mile yet he has already done this, yet you think CC will stay the trip even if its a fast pace that is a even bigger IF .Your right it is all about peoples opinions on what we have seen, so before I say anymore let me first wish you luck Kirk we are all in this together! But if you do think about how Coolmore work who offers them the most return for them, that is what they will be thinking of when they make there plans (ie)If S'beck wins the GNS what price could they stand Footsteps' for he would be the same price if he wins the irish and goes on to win a couple of other GR1s or if SNA wins the GNS (English)and then goes on to take the TC what then could they stand him for and also his own sire Montjeu ,look at the book of mares STS has got this year im sure both the main stallions at Coolmore have lost a great deal of top mares to him, they will want those mares back. Steinbeck even if he won all the mile races will never get those sort of mares but SNA would if that all happens MasterCM' stands for 20k STS is 85k you work it out Kirk, and remember Coolmore/Ballydoyle are in the business of stallions nothing else! Now Kirk you may see the point I was making back in Feb,You may also accept the fact that I told you Steinbeck was never going to run at HQ at the expense of a tilt at the TC. |

Can hardly expect them not to run the champion 2 year old in the 2000 guineas
