Only a month til this!!!
Last year the Imprudence was won by subsequent French Classic winner Elusive Wave, who went on to win the Pouliches, while Le Havre lifted the Prix du Jockey-Club after his Djebel victory. Both races will run at Maisons-Laffitte on April 8 over a straight 7f - and Stan James 1,000 Guineas favourite Special Duty is expected to make her seasonal debut in the Imprudence. |

Good I like S.Duty a lot think she has a great chance.

Ladbrokes have not only reinstated Lillie Langtry at 14/1 but have reintroduced Cabaret at 20/1. Still too early to say which will prove to be Ballydoyle's number one filly at Newmarket. Devoted To You is another possible. None of them is good enough to trouble Special Duty in any case!

By:

By:
Will this be the 1st ever thread to get to one thousand posts for a horse thats not favourite for a classic???
By:
Is is more a general Guineas thread now tbh

Still happy with my selections for the race. Still haven't seen a better 6f performance all last year than the Middle Park. Just hope Hamdan gives him his chance. He sure does derserve his crack at the 2,000gns.

any news on Arcano? had a good wager on this.tx
By:
Could easilly see ARCANO going to FRANCE, as HAMDAN unlikely to run both AZWAAN and ARCANO in the same Guineas. With previous French experience ARCANO the Favourite to go to France.

I don't agree, TIROL1982. Sheikh Hamdan tends to go along with what his trainers want to do. There are plenty of examples of big races where he has had two or more fancied runners. In the 2000 Guineas, for example, he ran Finjaan and Ouqba (2009), Nayef and Munir (2001), Marju and Mukaddamah (1991), Elmaamul and Rami (1990). There are plenty of other examples: he has often had two or more runners in the 1000 Guineas and the other classics. I reckon both Arcano and Awzaan will go to Newmarket.

Steinbeck looks DOOMED if the Betfair market for the 2000 Guineas is anything to go by. You cannot give him away !

jamesp,I Stand by my opinion that Arcano will more likely be in the French 2,000gns. His run there last year shows you which way the wind blows.
By:
I don't think there's any particular significance in the fact that Arcano went over to France for the Prix Morny. Canford Cliffs also went over for the race, but he's not heading for the French Guineas. The 2000 Guineas is a much more prestigious race than the French Guineas and I'm confident that Arcano will line up at Newmarket.
By:
What on earth has Canfords run in france got to do with anything? Hamdan will decide from his runners. Not taking into account Hannons runners. The only reason Hamdan would have both in the 2,000gns would be if Godolphin had No viable runner.

I was responding to Punterbaker, who seems to be of the view that Arcano is more likely to run in the French Guineas rather than the Newmarket Guineas, on the basis that "his run there last year shows you which way the wind blows". I referred to Canford Cliffs in order to debunk the argument that a previous run in France should be construed as possible evidence that a horse is being prepared for a cross-channel classic challenge. Needless to say, whatever course of action CC's connections decide upon has no bearing on what Sheikh Hamdan decides to do with his colts. As I have already mentioned, Sheikh Hamdan is not at all averse to running two or more fancied horses in the same race, so there is no reason to believe that he will decide to run only one of his two top colts (Arcano and Awzaan) at Newmarket.

if fit Arcano will run at HQ,imo.

Any news on Steinbeck? ;)
By:
Yes some shifty chaps are laying the 2 quids hoping someone will think it is out and offer them ludicrous prices for it. Hope this helps ;)

Someone laying STEINBECK. They have layed me 20 & 22 to bits and pieces. ???
By:
is it true, people are saying steinbeck is a doubtful ruuner at newmarket , on account of having to much weight to carry?
seems to have the weight of a few people on this forum, maybe it just to much. all the talk about he a cert for some people. now they seem to change their minds. have faith in your convictions, dont change your mine on account of a couple of people playing the prices. You wouldnt make good poker players some of you. |
By:
essexguy, your right I'll keep taking the 20.21.22, while they are willing to lay me. What part of Essex you from?
By:
I don't fancy the beast, BUT at 20 + must be a play .

You havent told us why in particular this thread gets on your nerves ... how it effects your bet in other words.
By:
Lots of big prices flying around in the 2,000gns market..In many cases best for three months!
By:
The laying has subsided a bit and they are not as keen to lay the 21. Only about 50 pounds available at prices bigger than the high street boys.
By:
A GOOD BET FOR THE IRISH Guineas....See where he runs and then GO GO GO.
By:
Apparently he has 'met a small setback; and is unlikely to make New'mkt - what a shock that is - NOT!!!
