Just can't seem to make any decent money any longer , been grinding away for 2 years in my flat now & it's driving me insane
Obviously I make money to pay bills etc , just not enough much to make it worthwhile any longer , so isn't getting me anywhere long term
I feel I'd be better off selling my flat & spending on a house where I'd be more comfortable , buy a few nice things & car
I'm just sick of seeing all these benefits programmes on television while I'm grinding my ass off just to live , at least I'd own my house & wouldn't feel pressured at all , the downside is I'd be limiting any further progress like investing in the stock market but have come to realize I don't really need a huge amount of money long term , just feel I'm wasting my life away & the government would be more than happy with that while I suffer in silence

Real cash comps .. yes every day sonko .. why should I have to stress myself out completely though they're not that easy to win & even if I win 20k tomorrow .. all it means is that I have to carry on playing !!!
I hate poker aka as you say it's past its best to the point where it's now a liability I'd look for a job in the future but what would I get & while I'm stuck like this I never will so I'm losing out double if you get my drift .. be better off being skint & having my bills paid to give me the enthusiasm |

You need to work out how much you need to live on each year. From reading your previous threads I really think getting a job or doing charity work would make you a happier more rounded person. Money is just money you cannot buy happiness.

I do not know what your social life is like, but yes it must be pretty boring staying in all day, trying to make a living on here I would keep your flat if I was you though, I lost my home due to problems, never got back in again. |

I've actually seen the earl nightingale vid before , I've watched a lot of similar stuff & there's a lot of truths to the mental aspects , maybe I should focus on it more completely as it worked for me years ago by making it at poker but times change fast nowadays & that's kind of beyond my control The thing that gets me is they're all Americans & come from a time when they were probably more applicable , it's almost as if they're brainwashing you to be financially stable by the age 65 Will I even live until 65 .. yes probably .. but will I be happy .. not the way I'm going No .. would I be happy financially stable at 65 .. well all it means in reality is you can foot your own bill for your care home I'm not quite sure what the horse racing scenario's telling me tbh This one's for you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IsO7Rm-sXA  |

Hey,buy the house (i was in your shoes ) i had a flat and bought a house using my savings ,but keep a relatively small balance on here now and make far less . THEN - get a part time job or one that pays enough to cover bills - maybe 20 -25 hours a week . as has been mentioned you'll be happier |

i am still grinding out a living on here by the way Moonylad .but i do enjoy the gambling side - football and not poker .
It's in my blood - i was gambling at 13 and getting the old man to put on a 50 pence accumilator and playing cards = feck the school homework .I come from a long line of gambling addicts  |

Glad the house has worked out for you Where did you buy in the end ? I know it's not easy for many on the dole but as you say lots have side schemes so it simply pays their bills & gives them a bit of freedom The trouble is if you're not making over 10k year then this life's not too different from being on the dole really is it at least by owning a house with less savings if you mess up it gives you that as a back up without losing thousands gambling just to try & pay bills There's no law against gambling on the dole I guess it's what you really want out of life I'm still football betting alongside my poker but finding it very tough to make anything worthwhile at all My only decent winners come from long term plays & not by gambling on matches where I seem to just gradually lose  |

Can't you go on the dole and gamble? I f you have no friends or family that you care about in UK I would be tempted to sell up and fk off to the med and gamble there. Lovely weather and seafood, could buy two apartments for 40k each. Live in one rent the other out.

oh btw if you do decide to go down the dole route.....
6k is only allowed before deductions from benefits. if you have more and "spend" it too quickly and they find out then not sure where you stand....presumably you might need a good reason ...like "i needed a car"....flat needed modernising...etc (may need proof so think it through) |

a few things to think about gambling on the med....
spain has gambling tax ...never a good idea to defraud any tax authority imo epsecially with a new reporting system and multiple agreements in place stars will suss out if your using a vpn.....i got a warning recently. |

Sell flat and buy nice house. Move in. will you have more than 6K in the bank after the house purchase has gone through? If Yes, spend until you don't. Register as unemployed. Be prepared for many questions i.e what the fook have you been doing for the last XXX years? We have no record of you on the system etc. Ride the storm. Eventually you will get JSA. Attend all mandatory courses to keep your claim going etc Gamble and play poker when you feel like it as a side line. You'll be living in a house with a guaranteed small income (JSA) and then it's up to you to make money on the side by playing poker and gambling. Keep your float in an e-wallet (or two) so transactions don't show up on bank statements. Deposit and withdraw from your 'side lines'to said wallets. Remember though, JSA pays peanuts and they'll expect you to jump through hoops to get it. No council tax to pay effectively adds a few ££'s to your JSA. Is it worth it? Don't ask me - depends on you and your circumstances The alternative is to go out and get a proper paid job (if you can get one), which may or may not make you happier. ..and before anyone asks, I don't sign on, don't claim ANY benefits whatsoever, and only bet for fun, not for an income (although I did for the best part of five years) |

Rob I'd seriously love to move to the med & buy 2 apartments but is it really all that easy .. would my apartment be easy enough to rent out or only in summer months
It would be a risk be could be what I'm looking for as I never feel i'll be happy in the Uk it's becoming a nastier place to live by the year imho I've watched video's of miles & miles of apartment blocks that have been built & only the odd person actually lives in any of them .. is that only in certain parts .. or is the Med more stable now .. all the Euro stuff is kinda worrying & seems I could end up in a right mess if not too careful But yes I'd love to .. all winter I've been freezing cold , depressed & lonely here |

I'm not a scrounger I've effectively worked hard all my life 7 days per week , 52 weeks per year , I don't even take Christmas or birthdays off , the slobs you see on the telly are the real scroungers !! I would eventually find a job so being on the dole would help It's ok for all you old guys living on b*s pensions BB but i'll never have a pension despite my efforts , the dole also pays for dentist , prescriptions & stamp No point in building an empire just to die lonely & miserable |

a lot of those apartments are just holiday resorts with 3.5k per year fee's , not as simples as it seems to me Have you actually bought that flat you were talking about ? |
