Just can't seem to make any decent money any longer , been grinding away for 2 years in my flat now & it's driving me insane

Obviously I make money to pay bills etc , just not enough much to make it worthwhile any longer , so isn't getting me anywhere long term

I feel I'd be better off selling my flat & spending on a house where I'd be more comfortable , buy a few nice things & car

I'm just sick of seeing all these benefits programmes on television while I'm grinding my ass off just to live , at least I'd own my house & wouldn't feel pressured at all , the downside is I'd be limiting any further progress like investing in the stock market but have come to realize I don't really need a huge amount of money long term ,  just feel I'm wasting my life away & the government would be more than happy with that while I suffer in silence Plain

I wish you would knock the poker on the head for awhile and have a holiday. I bet every day pretty much, on placepots on the horses and trap challenges on the dogs. I don't win fortunes but I hardly ever lose month to month, I just enjoy it. I do like poker every now and then but I'm not that good at it, I just do it for a bit of entertainment when in the mood and don't take it seriously. I'm off to New Zealand for a few weeks in June just to chill out and go fishing, watch a bit of rugby and see my family and friends in Auckland. Really looking forward to that break away from everything.

That's fine by me Gery , who is my biggest fan Plain

I am a very unhappy person yes , most people are brainwashed to believe that their job is everything in life , but you get nothing back at the end of it all , life is for living but very few actually seem to successfully

I don't mean to be personal (you obviously live on a pension now) but what difference would still owning your house mean to you , better health care in old age Confused

You see my job was my life, my function in life, I chose one I liked...it was taken away from me, never worked since, no one would employ me,
that was a terrible punishment for me

In the process I lost my property, money, everything, another punishment for me

What use is retirement to me?
Still I try to laugh or I would cry, explains my warped humour, and I make the best of what I have.

But I emphasize with you with one thing Moonbeam, unhappiness, I was wondering why, that was all?
Don't worrying about me laughing at Clydebank, I laugh at anything.

Anyway I hope the poker looks upHappy

You picked me up wrong (maybe I never made it clear) although you find the negatives in my post and not the positives.

8 years ago without HUDs/ training sites/ videos/ Twitch the game was easy. I was beating Betfair/ Pokerchamps with a healthy ROI and only Wulfman I avoided. 8 years later and everyone knows how to play a basic game and I've seen Wulfman cry on the Poker forum. I ate him in a few STTs on I-Poker and all he did was cry. I stayed static for several years but I realised to keep up with the game you have to also move with the times. I'm still learning and still working on my game.

You say the top pro's don't use a HUD, what evidence have you? A HUD isn't as important as improving your own game but a HUD can be useful for picking certain tells that instinct doesn't always work. How often does someone call raise pre, call 3 bet on flop, check turn and fold? A HUD stat would give you that in an instant. You'd know by instinct but on how many times when multi tabling? Upgrade your PC and start using it if it's running slow.

Get out and meet people mate is your biggest problem and forget about the poker. Anything, talk to randomers when shopping, flirt with the cash assistants, just get out there and talk to people.

"life's just so much more stressful on your own"

That is bollox.  You've chosen to live on your own.  You blame your parents and other people for making you feel worse.  So for you, you've decided it's less stressful on your own.  Your in good physical health, otherwise you'd be moaning about it.  You can chose what you do and when you do it.  I can understand you feel trapped, but you show absolutely no inclination to do anything about it.

Life is more stressful if you've got dependents, where you've got responsibilities to be a good role model and are struggling to put food on the table or heat the house.  I know someone reasonably well who's daughter has sever physical and mental problems, part of the symptoms mean she doesn't sleep for more than 2-3 hours and he or his wife are up in the night every single day for the last 12 years and they know they will always have to care for her until they or her die.  That's stress.
Report ebulGery March 22, 2015 9:55 AM GMT
I think you should get a house Moonbeam, I agree with that.

I find being on my own stressful at times. But I have a good friend which helps me, even though she does not live with me.
I also have to support her in different ways, so that is now my function in life.
That is my good luck in life.

One thing you could do with is a friend Moonbeam. If you buy a house perhaps you can get a lodger.

I do not think you will ever work now, you have committed to your present life for better or worse.

Hi McMoonbeam.

I don't quite follow the statement here. If I have it right you've never worked, and don't want to lower your perceived standards by taking a menial job.

If everyone with no academic achievements, or specialist training, had the same viewpoint we wouldn't have bin men, labourers of all kinds,
farm workers etc etc!

Many people start at the bottom and finish up in top positions. My sister started off in the bakery at Schofield's, Leeds, and finished up as a buyer.

I will say best of luck anyway.

Duncan Banatyne was an ice cream vendor and there are very many more like him.

I think that the truth is that you just don't want to work and, the longer you leave it, the more impossible it will become.

Your thread has achieved an astonishing amount of views and replies, along with some excellent advice.

Clydebank and Aunty Post have the gist of it. You are bone-idle. You are totally self-obsessed. You are prepared to cheat and lie in order to get the working population to give even MORE money than you already have salted away. You seem to have a highly over-inflated opinion of your present value as a potential employee. Your posts are just wallowfests of your distorted view of how you arrived at this point, and who is responsible for it.

"Life is for Living"?...Ebeneezer Scrooge had more fun than Moonbeam! Shocked

There are pages of replies on this thread, none of which will achieve ANYTHING. He will still carry on with his grand ideas of being a brilliant cardsharp whilst trying to milk 'free' money from the public coffers.

Ok, that's done, you have let off some steam, now decide what to do: Makes changes to your lifestyle and see if that makes you happy OR don't make changes and stay in the same mindset. I think you just wanted to connect with people on here when you started this post. I don't think you actually want to change. But GL. Just my opinion.

Local companies generally won't help because they know that once you are fully qualified you then become competition and a threat to their livelihood .

I appreciate you taking the time to think it all through so carefully & is actually a very good idea Happy

I have considered buying a house & letting a couple of rooms but it'd have to be the right kind of house , modern & friendly environment

Being on your own kind of moulds you to the fact that you're stuck on your own sometimes but I'm a decent enough person that lodgers probably wouldn't mind being around too much , though I do like my own space & privacy a great deal too

The only other way for me would to be try & buy another cheap flat & let that for a small income , but is a lot of trouble & risk for the kind of flats I could buy & I'd be almost broke apart from the £3-400 income I'd get from a flat

I could still make that work but at least with one house I'd be in control a lot more , 1 council tax to pay etc .. & even if lodgers moved on as they will do the house is still mine to live in as I please .

I do not think you have milked the system, you have just never been in it

This is much more the truth that the doo gooders that naydam have never been faced with , if you get off to a bad start in life it's extremely difficult to ever really 'fit in' & get started again as society is against you every step of the way !

I feel that's where I'm going wrong as I'm not reading every game individually for what's actually happening any longer , when I'm down & depressed I tend to just 'system bet' more like a robot tbh

Always bet the Overs on my team coach and just sit back and collect Grin And bet them to win and BTTS as they always concede. We won again last night 6-2 Grin and 5-3 midweek Cool

Don't be too tough on yourself Gery Grin

Like I say I find that's really half the battle & if you think your not being too clever then it will manifest in your subconscious mind , have you ever read or studied the subconscious mind ?

I tend to think he game of football has changed rapidly the last few years or so Coach , it just seems much more unpredictable than it ever was to me Confused
Report Coachbuster March 22, 2015 11:57 PM GMT

unpredictable isn't the word - it's  all over the shop .

betting patterns are very random .

odds can  move about and tie you in knots .

i was giving away odds too generous tbf ,cost me a bit - impatience i guess  -but it's impossible to live and learn as each game is different in its betting patterns - and i hate leaving bad red open positions -i'd sooner lose in reverse if that makes sense .

no games this week .

you staying in Brum ?   Havent been there for ages -

It is it's crazy , the World cup completely crushed me & have never really recovered tbh
Only way I win big amounts is by being smart with outright season bets , still waiting to crush the Premiership winners market for a fair few grand Mischief

I'm just outside Brum Coach a few miles outside the centre but isn't a bad little place for shops , just very busy for traffic etc , but isn't where I feel at home

If I bought a house I'd definitely move from here more to the outskirts , saw a nice one in Worcester recently but is a much quieter place , apart from that the better buys are all North from here , Derby , Stoke etc

saw a modern 3 bed townhouse in stoke selling for 95k
would be perfect to let a few rooms but again isn't really my kind of area , but where is hey Plain

You still happy with your house , where abouts are you now ?
Report Coachbuster March 23, 2015 12:33 AM GMT
Worcester sounds bonzer - some nice places round there -Herefordshire ,Glos ,not so sure about Stoke no dis' to our Stokies on here, they tell me it's rum  Laugh - moving is expensive you need to get it right .

South of Birmingham looks nice as does Derbyshire -is Derby itself
no good ? seems a lot like my town overall

I'm in NorthEast Ipswich - the only part i get on with bar the odd exceptions  -quiet and generally nice folk - most of the town though isn't great and i've lived in most of it -but affordable ,still terraced houses here for 100 -rare for SE england

nearby Essex too expensive as is Coastal Suffolk -but only a short drive from lovely sce
nery pubs etc - moving is tiring - still the garden to sort out

see you tomorrow mate Happy
Report Mc Moonbeam March 23, 2015 12:45 AM GMT
Yep Stoke is a dump .. as is Derby Coach .. but they're the kind of places you find good buys ... but as you say you really need to get it right .. tough when you don't know where you're going !

Take care mate .. Cheers!! Happy

night mate Happy
Report Mc Moonbeam March 23, 2015 1:01 AM GMT
a house just for myself I'd prefer a more rural area like Worcester .. most big Midland cities are dumps tbh

but you're always welcome here if you ever fancy a few beers & some grub Wink

Stopped emails as I said on the other thread posted a few things on puntersmate, but lost a bit of interest last few weeks cards are so poor.I live in Shropshire,if you email me can tell you the town, don't want all the idiots on here knowing which town I live in..ShockedCoolgreat place to live,if you ever get move anywhere here you could help me out getting bets on,they do actually take bets where I live in most of the shops..Surprised

Only down the road from you, less than 50 mile, summers coming and I havn't tried shops for a long time so will be trying that again..
Report Mc Moonbeam March 23, 2015 2:59 AM GMT
Shropshire's a very nice part , that's why I only asked the area , I sent you a quick PM Happy

Cheers Moony lad - never know ,in the summer mate   Happy

visited Ludlow a while short back near you  ,what  a lovely town - could happily live there Love
Report Mc Moonbeam March 23, 2015 8:31 PM GMT
No problem mate

Just gimme a shout if you're ever visiting Happy

I don't really know Ipswich at all I've never even been to that side of the country tbh

I'm not too sure on Ludlow but as you say there's some really nice towns & villages around that kind of area , the type of place you'd feel a lot more peaceful

Not much footy on this week is there , what do you do with your time when there's not much going betting wise Confused
Report Mc Moonbeam March 23, 2015 8:48 PM GMT
I'm actually only up the road from Ludlow have just never ventured out that way enough to know it well , once I get a new car sorted I might just enjoy myself exploring a bit more over the summer months Cool
Report Coachbuster March 23, 2015 9:34 PM GMT
it's a really lovely place moony, you need to visit being so close -  i'm guessing expensive too no doubt  . There are a lot of nice areas near to you - Cotswolds isn't that far away from B'ham.

East Anglia is nice ,but it isn't hilly  and you have to look for the nice places -they don't jump out at you - little pink plastered  timbered buildings nestled away in the rolling countryside, and lovely coastal areas  .

Worth a visit to the nicer places.
England has some beautiful areas  -pity the country is in such a mess
