Gee Lloydy I'm not sure how you could possibly claim Avonnova doesn't run a place tonight!

Lloydy with all due respect you have disparagingly called it a claimer all year yet its lost only three times in 11 always running second and beaten by ImTheMightyQuinn, Beautide and For a reason - oh and one third when it was slaughtered again behind Quinny

far from disgraced again tonight

Lloydy:

Well called ...Impressive...quietly thinking it is one thing...shouting it from the mountain top is another...

Well shouted from up there on the mountain.....$1.70 tattsbet

Lloydy actually got the race completely wrong Henry, quite sure he didn't have For A Reason sitting behind it. He got very lucky indeed, but fair play to him he does put his thoughts up and deserves luck on his side

Aussie,

I backed For a Reason/Abetorpunt.
Layed Aranova Win and Place
I should of typed what i thought
For a Reason to lead and Hand up, Lauren Panella to come around and at all cost try to Lead (Got that part wrong). Abetorpunt to sit back and await Fireworks to stop then get a Cart up into race.
On Straight Abetorpunt and For a Reason (2 Class horses draw away) Aranova Gasping for breath.

Im laying Bitorbliss today for small and backing Hes Kinky at Kilmore.
Cup is not as easy as it looks. Ill be looking for Value and Covering for a Proffit.

And you right i say before not after races and did get a bit lucky last night.

HAve to say Aronova has improved out of site, i just cant back it.
Abetorpunt Caldow cant drive it, got lucky at Ballarat but he not used to driving good horses.

yes I agree with Aussie, Henry is easily pleased but well done Lloydy on your bets if not your post

reverse the draw and the result changes i think is a fair call for any avonnova knocker

and of course Puke McCarthy has a whole deck of "get out of Jail free cards"
it must be great to train horses for rich and powerful owners
nothing will be done about the most blatant team driving you will ever see
yes they had the horse to do it but that's not the point
well done Team McCarthy, Todd leads out, hands up to brother Luke who hands up to Avonnova
a very well executed plan.....not talking thru my pocket, didn't back Avonnova and couldn't get enough on For A Reason during the race!
anyone bagging Avonnova after that stich up is either blind or has absolutely no idea
hats off to Ian Gurney for buying a no name horse for $20K (?) and turning it into his personal ATM, has made about $200K on the deal
I'm sure he couldn't give a rats about anyone bagging the horse as he's laughing all the way to the bank!!!
By:

just to add to that mix Village - I P Gurney is in the ownership of horse 1 Our Hi Jinx

Were you aware of that?

oh no Bitobliss wins

Aussie will start dreaming again

Just remember he only beat Victorians, and not even the best of those WinkExcitedHappy

thanks for reminding me Craig, he did mention that in a pre race interview
no wonder he was sweating bullets about For A Reason and said he needed
to be 4 lengths clear of him turning for home or he was toast because he couldn't out sprint him
that doesn't change the fact Todd McCarthy gave Hi Jinx next to no chance of winning
he handed up to his big bro because he knew 100% what the plan was
Team driving is a blight on the sport "Team Purdon" which includes brother in law Tony H got away with it for years
I had a party when the McCarthy's left Queensland, it was a very happy day, just wish they wouldn't ever come back

having said all that Village been been great racing up in QLD this year?

even the Dodgy dealer race last night was a thriller

drilled but still too classy

When: 26 Oct 14 05:37
yes Craig I agree, I'm having a great time, stay tuned as I may spark up on Twitter again
I've had a break as I seem a bit jinxed there

off topic and I know the Aussies didn't have their "A Team" but have you ever seen the Kangaroo's play that bad
and be so dominated by another team??......I didn't check the odds pre game but the Kiwi's were $4!!!

i was at work and couldn't watch but sounds like too good kiwis
By:

When: 26 Oct 14 06:04
I don't think you should be watching a replay then as it would be painful
the Kiwi dominance around the ruck had to be seen to be believed
Shaun Johnson had the ball on a string, it was just pretty to watch
and an emotional Keiran Foran post game who had "dreamed of beating the aussies since he was a kid" and finally got his wish
and hats off to Peter Stirling and most of the commentary team for their unbiased praise of the Kiwi's
it was refreshing that they gave credit were it was due and didn't make excuses
By:

VK - I think K Foran will prove to be one of the greats by the time he hangs up his boots - but what is this thread about again ????

Interdominion, Isn't that Australia vs NZ??.......good to see the Kiwi's on top in both Rugby codes, shame about the Netball but you can't win everything

every thread I start gets hijacked by the haters Wink

Craig TS might finally realise that Avonnova is not top shelf.  Might start $4 in an Inter Final you said.  Well you can have $4.50 with me for as much as you like.
By:

When: 27 Oct 14 03:33
who cares? It's a free world, anyone is welcome to buy a horse for $20K and make over $200K in less than a year
maybe some of the self appointed forum experts should try and do that if it's so easy
money talks and we know what bullshit does

What a mate Adore Me is. Only horse who lost face there at all was Franco Nelson who is slightly below the best. So many good runs giving the way it panned out. Bring on the big one in a fortnight

WOW what a race ADORE ME blew to bits and unplaced as a very short fave on this day last year
this years she gives the boys a spanking paying 21.0.....a lovely bit of Team Purdon driving to boot
Terror To Love and Christen Me too far back and mathematically impossible to win the way the race was run

Bring on the Cup!!!

And you're right everyone is free to have an opion.  But how many horses woluld you have taken out of the NZ meeting today ahead of Avonnova.  Probably puts his place in the pecking order into perspective.

fair point, I wouldn't back Avonnova to win the Inter with stolen money, Queensland bashing shouldn't get me wound up but it does
I just think it's a great story about a very astute purchase and think all involved should be congratulated for landing such a good bet

apologies for getting lost in the heat of the moment and posting my bet's as it was aftertiming and a bit of knob polishing
By:

When: 27 Oct 14 11:18
hahaha I don't see much wrong with a bit of bragging re a collect.

As good a purchase as you will see for $20k considering the big money some people torch looking for a horse to race at that level.  Good luck to them.

I was a touch harsh on Craig TS.  He loves the sport and is a real optimist which is very hard to maintain when betting on the trots!
By:

When: 27 Oct 14 16:12
the leaders ran the last quarter today in 26.0, half in 54.9 so TTL and C Me obviously went quicker but you have to factor in
that it was Ashburton where they run in a straight line downhill uaually with a tailwind, at any other track bar Menangle that would be jaw dropping
either way they both ran excellent Cup trials
By:
Craig The Speculator
When: 27 Oct 14 23:24
no probs at all leftrightout

i admit saying Avonnova would be $4 in an Inter Final was silly but I did think it was somewhat tongue in cheek when i wrote it

having said that I have been onboard as Avonnova has come from being a claimer and a horse ridiculed at this level to a horse that started 1.70 in a group 1 and ran a great race

VK - did I hear tat For A Reason is heading to kiwi for the NZ Cup ????

On a completely unrelated topic - do they have a retention barn for that race ????
By:
Village Kid
When: 29 Oct 14 07:27
no unfortunately Trotman, I can still recall NSW horse Steel Jaw streeting them in an NZ Cup by about 8 lengths
what ever they gave it nearly killed it and I don't think it ever won another race but definitely didn't keep racing like an NZ CUP winner
The McCarthy's winning the Cup with either For A Reason or Seel N Print would be one of my saddest moments in the sport
I'm praying it just doesn't happen, that smug look Luke McCarthy gets post race would send me into a meltdown from which I may never recover
no matter how good a sprint you have two miles run in around 4 minutes at Addington can take it out of you
it does relate to the Inter because if you ask any NZ trainer or owner if they'd like an NZ CUP or the Inter Trophy  on their mantle piece they will pick the Cup any day....it's something they get to dine out on for the rest of their lives
