A sort of safety net, like benefits. No one wants to be poor living week to week, but it`s there when you most need it.

It still interests me that very few Competition players seem to have a strong enough opinion to voice on the thread - in which case, despite being an instigator, leave well alone?

A lot of people dont join in these discussions, some never look at the forum other than to find their div thread for the day. Doesn't necessarily mean they don't have an opinion. A way around this might be to put up the two to three options on a "voting thread", flag it up boldly on our division threads, and urge people to vote. We could set a mimimum turnout for any change the vote produces. If that turnout is not achieved, leave as is. That way, no one (that includes you pete) could have any more gripes.

We could do Reg, I foresee a poor turnout though, voter apathy Laugh

What we have here is napsters who are unhappy to varying degrees regarding the lottery of last race fav and the perceived circumstances that could prevent others from posting. Are we agreed on that?

Fair enough Reged - but how do we decide on what to vote?

Stupid Rule needs dumping. If you cant post on the day or the night before or even in advance (holidays etc) then tuff. The other issue imo is the amount of "the shortest bet of the day" posts in the premier. This needs capping also as its pathetic and hardly a tipping comp when the same old **** gets put up everyday!! 5 odds on a month limit maybe or start taking £'s off the scores??

That's a different argument and I rather think potless would lose some points as well as the usual suspects,of which I am obviously one.

well we sort that out here, knock up a proposal we can agree on - maybe the settlers - decide on the voting rulez and orf we go

shane, yes, I dont doubt therre will be voter apathy. Thats not the point. The fact that everyone was given the opportunity to vote and didnt would end the arguing. If not enuf people care about changing the rules then why change them? But the dissenters would effectively be silenced.

No post -1pt, no allowances or 10 no posts, non runner no deduction. LRF rule should be scrapped unless on holiday and the settler is advised before hand of how long the player will be away ie one week or two weeks, sickness or hospitalised should be the same, inform the settler before you go in hospital as MOMM did, I knew he wouldn't be able to post everyday so made allowance for this, a bit of leniency/common sense is OK in certain situations.

The options:

1 - Stay as we are

2 - Reduce to maximum of 5 non posting days per calendar month

3 - Cap isp of last race fav to 2/1

4 - Scrap last race fav (instructions) altogether. No post -£1

How does that look?
By:

When: 26 Feb 14 19:04
too many

1 - as is

2 - no LRF, maximum 10 free non posting days a month, last day compulsory

3 - No LRF, no instructions, nada

I think whether you cap LRF or not is a bit of a side issue but then Im not a fan - just makes the artificial more artificial IMO

I don`t like No 2 Reg, as mentioned before by myself, I fear it would be used at the bottom end of the premier. Tactics play a huge part in more than one way.

Just look at how many in and just above the bottom four select the same horse.

well you are always going to get something of that ilk ... people will find a way around everything. I dont have a problem with five days, or even no days. But I think a lot of others might

Let`s decide, along with betty & KC.

Three options to vote for, decide on them and put it to a vote.

Obviously option (1) is stay as we are. (2) has to be cancel last race fav altogether, no post -£1
Option (3) ??????

No post - £1 simples!! As for the shorties whats gonna happen there?? Lets face it the Premier league especially is a fkn joke!
By:

When: 26 Feb 14 19:42
potlessagain - I do not think the LRF rule affects the Premier more than any other. Tactics will play a part in a competition.

Didn't even see this thread until now. Soldier what surprised me most was that I was even still taking part in Shane's Premiership threads after you had your wicked way with my selections for two weeks LaughLaugh I'm only messing, you did a fine job and its a good example of how its possible to get round a holiday.

I can see both sides of the coin here but maybe capping the lrf at 2/1 is a good compromise as you would eliminate the scenario of a massive winner for a non posting day but still allow posters some flexibility.
By:

I'm not saying it affects the Premier more than any other. It's a pathetic rule for ALL Divisions!! The Premier is though a joke as you get sucked in tactically in a way with the shorty of the day which needs changing. I'm not the only one who thinks this and think it needs addressing also and put to a vote!

Why not have a cut off point (7 days from end, or 5 or 3?)
to avoid tactics.

Otherwise keep it as it is

The only other point is, I think LRF seems very unfair for settlers
as they have to wait until racing is finished, every single day.

Maybe they don't mind

I think we would all appreciate not having to wait for the last race every evening.

I am not keen on LRF   -1 if you don't post

with regards on shots surely that is up to the individual?
By:

You could make it FRF if everybody had to select before racing started.

if Thursdays selections had to be in by midnight night before, wouldn't this eliminate the lrf ?

no selection = -1 point nr/s settled as usual ?
By:
potlessagain
When: 26 Feb 14 20:38
Yes Odds on shots are up to the individual but to post 1/10 1/20 shots etc all the fkn time is ridiculous. Limit the amount of odds on per month imo to 5 or 10?? If you go over then its minus a pound.

if someone wants to back at those short odds in a competition, well that is to my advantage Wink

Reg (cheeky B) , Shane and other settlers please just get your heads together and come up with just 2 options to vote from as having too many will no doubt split us moaning gets up.
Can I put a proposal to the Committee before you word your vote? Just so Reg has something to dismiss.Laugh

My proposal would be " LRF abolished and replaced with a maximum of 3 rest days per month and not needing to ask for them so if you don't post this rule will be auto applied but with the last 3 days of each Month posting being compulsory" Also once during a calendar year each member can with a Months advance request a 10 day holiday leave.
