Really? You prefer that to the Michelle Bass version?

I never watched BB then but did hear her 'sing' it in the allstars BB |

Jai wasn't opera though, and sang a pop song in the semi. Michael Collings got a decent percentage from Trap 2 in that final making 4 of the first 5 that year standard singers. Every year is different and has a different emphasis. Mebbe that year was just ****. Razy was a huge disappointment in so far as his audition was his best set and he basically just did the same thing 3 times in a row
|
|
By:
I wouldn't class Jai as pop. A musical type voice. Like SuBo.
Pure pop singers have a terrible record. Going back to Andrew, one of the few times the judges were genuinely blown away by a performance and weren't just reading from a script |

Believe it or not, fll, by the time of the allstars she was vastly improved. She had had 5? 6? years to master it, especially after the amount of grief she must have taken over her firet go at it.

I have laid Leah. I`ve liked Andrea`s chances since her first audition. Who can forget her perfect, pure-emotion-churning spiel: `I`m sorry but, as I`m blind, I don`t know if any of you have turned around.` Cowell himself couldn`t have scripted a better line.

I think it's the best I've done on the BGT outright market, but I feel I played it badly tonight, got a little lucky in some regards, should have done quite a bit better and I feel really flat. This is compounded as it looks like I'm about the furthest out I've ever been on some odds compiling this week. Just really bugs me that I predicted between 5/1 and 6/1 on something that looks like being 7/2.
I broke even on something else last month, felt I played it really well, had no luck at all and felt quite positive about it. |

Jack certainly could have overturned attraction tonight
Sadly a) routine wasn't funny enough b) the Steve vote chewed into Jack's vote If not for either of those he would have won. Attraction the default winner as non of the main competitors stepped up to the plate Not surprised to see Luminites so far down, was happily massively red on the for top 3 - were never going to attracted adult female voters who make up the majority of the vote |
|
By:
Just read over all of this. Travelled up to Edgbaston today for the cricket so missed it live. Was decent green on Attraction (backed them 2.4ish average before their semi) and flat the rest so glad to see the result, guess maybe I'd have topped up on them at evens but that's just speculation really.
Find it a bit depressing reading this though the number of xenophobic comments. I'm half Hungarian myself (though born here and lived in this country all my life). Some of the OTT stuff people come up with just because they've done their boll*cks betting on Britain's Got Talent is frankly embarrassing, shocking that grown up human beings can come up with such tripe. Attraction overall were the best act, tonight was a misjudgement on their part (perhaps they were misinformed/misled) but their audition was arguably the best in BGT history and it was always going to take a monumental effort for someone to overhaul them tonight. |

Some comments from a lurker...
For information, Laddies were top price Attraction 3/1 at end of April. I did a shop bet...for £25 . This isn't a "thinly veiled" posting, I lost last night and lost plenty on the semi heats. Oh well, can't win them all. As others have said, betting on BGT is very hazardous with the blatant full on manipulation and the (unknown to us) running order being so crucial. I might give it a miss in future.Without doubt, by far, the Specials forum on here is the best with some great and very helpful posters, and particular thanks to Danzaa for posting the fb likes, although jack12321 and I'm sure others were not happy. Surprised he wasn't asked to take the postings to "gormley". Danzaa, on a personal note, whilst you are undoubtedly very good at specials, your betting of late smacks of chasing and plunging on short priced favs, for ever increasing amounts, will only end unhappily, IN MY OPINION. Apologies as I'm sure I've over stepped the mark here, just a bit of friendly advice. Also for people to say "well done" to you after a win, as someone did last night and I've seen in the past too when you were chasing, well, good grief. bearcub Coral @Coral 1m Fancy Francine? She's been cut to 25/1 to win. http://corl.me/zOzx0w #BGTfinal I too saw and grimaced at this tweet bearcub. It is shocking and outrageous that bookies shorten prices as someone is performing, KNOWING that a large bunch of their mug customers will probably just take whatever price is on offer at that moment. It's just robbery, isn't it? I have a bookie trader mate who says there is one thing lower than an arber, (or "filthy arber" as he always refers to them), and that's someone who knowingly places a bet when a price is wrong or a mistake. Well how's bookies outrageously manipulating odds like this any different? It happens all the time. When Ireland were singing in the ESC, this was tweeted: Paddy Power@paddypower2m Ireland now into 14/1 from 25/1 after that performance! Betfair were 46 to back at that moment. If anyone doesn't know, Ireland finished stone cold last. Just some musings and a rant by me. Although I hardly post, I don't have faith in my opinions enough to post anything and hate, absolutely hate, the "pressure" of giving tips out (although happily post the odd bit of news here if I come across something that hasn't been mentioned), I read virtually everything on here (think it was timbucktooth who said he HAS to read every post here, I'm not far behind that!) and would be lost without this forum with regards to betting on specials (although it sometimes loses me money too!). It's certainly a lot of fun though and some of the comments really are very funny. Bring on BB... |

That's fair game imo for the bookies myself. We need people to lose on specials so the markets keep going.

“shocking that grown up human beings can come up with such tripe”
Well you just have cnman. They were annoyed financially but the overall feeling wasn’t xenophobia but annoyance that such crassly manipulative rubbish from Attraction could win and annoyance at the British public for lapping it up. But all of Attraction’s acts were crassly manipulative. This is Cowelland. You’ve got to embrace it and love it ![]() And gain from it ![]() |

no xenophobic comments at all Henry VII? not even borderline? a select few:
"shady blokes in hungary giving out mobile phones shocker" "Attraction won with the immigrant vote." "attraction won on the diaspora vote " "Hungarians win Britain's Got Talent. Bulgarians will be arriving soon. Muslims kill soldiers in the streets. This country has a deathwish." "its a fair representation of the UK---full of immigrants :)" "come to London..and you now see romanian immigrants everywhere / polish people / lithuanians..thats britain now ... so hungarians winning seems quite fitting" |

I slated loads (probably most) of the acts - couldn't care less where they come from. Although maybe I do after an article I saw this morning - something along the lines of with Attraction's win SCowell thinks he is joining the world together
. Words fail me - if only JR was around to pass comment ;) |

By:
Have to laugh - they don't even make the finals in two attempts on Syco shows, then we give them the gold medal.
To be fair they are talented, but I fail to understand how Cowell can say it doesn't matter where they are from The whole brand is that it is a specific 'country' that has the talent, or why not just call it 'worlds got talent'? |

Nice post ahorsewithnoname
![]() Sometimes a few of us on here who are still able to get on with High St bookies, are reluctant to broadcast certain information on this forum.Nothing against anyone reading it,it's just that prices can evaporate very quickly once particular news becomes widespread. I was also a lurker on here until approx 18 months ago.I'm serving my apprenticeship now by conversing with more experienced and better informed specials punters, and as a consequence my results are continually improving.I would urge you to join in more, and never be concerned about posting tips or opinions.Virttually everyone on here are responsible, respectful gamblers, and when "trains" or suggestions prove to be wide of the mark (as the majority of mine tend to be) the worst that usually happens is a little good natured leg-pulling. Good luck with your betting. |

Guilty as charged of reading every single post on this forum. Don`t we all? Or am I really the saddest of the sad? I, too, lurked for a long time, believing I had nothing worthwhile to contribute. Over time, however, I began to realise that I had learned enough to risk adding my opinion and that, occasionally, Id say something worthwhile. As you rightly point out, this is a very friendly place, so even when I talk b0ll0x, the rebukes are mild enough. The more varied the views of posters` the better, with the proof regularly being shown in the `Who Wins? The Forum Polls` threads, which have been remarkably accurate, using the consensus of the crowds. So, don`t be a stranger. .At the risk of being semantic, the programme is entitled `Britain`s Got Talent`, meaning `Britain Has talent`, or `There is Talent In Britain`.It`s not called `British Born People That Have Talent`. There`s a subtle, but important, difference. Where would the xenophobes stand if Attraction had all come to live in Britain 10 years ago? Would they then be British enough? What if they all came to live there when they were one week old? Would that be British enough? Being Irish, I`m well aware that my country has a `special relationship` with Britain on many things, allowing Irish contestants to enter these contests without suffering the same degree of xenophobia. Yet Ireland is just as much a foreign country as Hungary. Mentioning Ireland brings up an anomaly in the thinking of the xenophobes, namely that the `Britain` in the show`s name really should be `The U.K.` After all, the nation is actually ` The U.K. of Great Britain and Northern Ireland` Does this mean that Belfast-born people should not be entering BGT? |
|
By:
Old regulars drifting away and no newbies allowed = not good
They're not actually allowing any new forum members, so it's pretty impossible for these forums to get any newbies. |
|
By:
Lou only ever posts in x-factor doesn't he?
Same as Army only ever posts for BB? |
|
By:
For me, that argument is for ds. Once the 'foreign' acts are considered eligible it is only a question how they will be treated by the prods, that affects the betting, prices and value. It was going to go one of two ways, Attraction could easily have been de-ramped due to their COO and they most likely would have been beat. However it suited the show to get behind them, and swing their nationality into a positive.

As Squares says, Lou popped up on Chit Chat the other day asking his usual type question, being the same old Lou that we all love. He has, once or twice, posted on Specials subjects other than X Factor. Likewise, Army popped up one night a few months ago, for one night only, posting about something, (not BB), that was on at the time.
