It's possible that those voters who like groups rather than individuals, will transfer their votes from D3 to UJ and therefore UJ could avoid being in B2.

The more i look at this the more i think that there is no way the producers will have 3 boring people, Ella, Jahmene and James/Chris in the final just standing on the stage doing ballads. They will probably do their best to get a group to at least 4th place or final 3.

The PTB probably totally underestimate how big an Ella bounce could be. Would it be sustained I guess is the remaining question

No reason why not... There's only three weeks to the final - and Little Mix only topped the vote for the first time in week 7.

Their positions in the poll were 4 / 6 / 2 / 4 / 3 / 1 / 2 / 1 / 1

I would imagine that Ella's vote is not too dissimilar to this, hovering around 3rd, 4th or 5th each week so far.  You could actually argue it's important not to peak too soon - and if they judge it right, the bounce could take her all the way to the top.

Burke was nowhere until 3 weeks before the end OC

altho LM came in at the start of the lives as almost "unknowns" so were always going to have to be growers/improvers whereas Ella came in with a massive about of pre-lives hype and goodwill.

I guess voting leaks do confirm that she did well with Rule The World and Lovin' You, but has dipped/disappointed since.  However, I feel she should have polled better those first two weeks.

Yes. I want to know if she did better last week, as the performance was much improved

Burke was one of the pre show favs, so if Ella wins it wouldn't be too dissimilar to that pathway

I was going to add a similar observation Squares.

It's all about momentum in this game - Little Mix were never Plan A and it was only after E.T. that their support really grew.

Ella on the other hand was hyped up to the max, but has obviously disappointed in the votes so far (in failing to fill one of the top two positions as originally expected).

Question is whether they can turn it around.  As GB says, last week's results would be very revealing - and the Burke comparison is probably a good one.

True, but she was still overshadowed by the other more media-friendly girls early doors (Diana and Laura) so almost seemed like an underdog.  Her consistency became apparent as they showed their imperfections and had their problems.

Amazingly considering her hyper gobbiness ever since, Alexandra seemed quiet and almost shy until she came alive on stage.

It's interesting looking back to last year with regards to Janet's vote too of course.

As has been observed elsewhere, there could be a very similar pattern with Chris this year.  Topping the vote every week, then post leak she suddenly dropped off a cliff - form figures 1 / 1 / 1 / 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 (out).

Of course she never got more than 18% after peaking in the first week, so it might take them longer to shift Baloney.

Plus Chris is holding his head up high. Janet shrivelled under the pressure and all her negatives came to the fore

yep, Janet was clearly desperately unhappy like a wounded bird waiting to be put out of her misery, esp by the time she got to MmmBop

Laugh I had totally forgotten about that... Priceless.

Has there ever been a more ridiculous song choice and performance by a leading contender?!

A lot of speculation about voting figs on here.. everyone believe a certain tabloid?

Every time. But voting figures are subject to change OC

I am with you as they seem to have inside knowledge based on previous years

quick Q do you think UJ will get the boot against Rylan ths week? I wouldnt think they could bounce from last place but I would guess they would prefer UJ for the 2 performances in week 8
By:
Dizzy42
When: 14 Nov 12 13:05
One boy band far easier to pimp than two.  Rylan would go, even in a sing off with UJ.  But I expect them to get the bounce.

Voting figure stories almost invariably true, esp. Star, but you have to read between the lines to see the true story and motivation behind the leaks...

My guess is that votes have been low so far this season, so Chris's support may be over-exaggerated.  As the audience and voting numbers build towards the final his percentage could quickly dwindle, even if his level of support is sustained.

I would kind of agree about Chris not making the final but would think that possibility may be as a result of some kind of 'twist' to the norm. At a guess maybe Simon might intervene the week before the final and 'vote' on which acts are deserving or is that too left field?

don't think this would be a good year for any "messing with the format" in view of the poor opinion most people seem to have of the show and its workings.
By:

When: 14 Nov 12 13:19
The most 'radical' twist I can come up with that they could still get away with is a bottom two scenario in the semi-final.  That way they could get rid of the 3rd placed contestant at that stage if they wanted, without too much of a backlash.

I'm highly doubtful that any act has hit the 30% mark in a vote yet.

Either way, I can't see any other result than a Rylan exit this weekend.

Personally i think UJ will get double or more votes this week, only if those who supported D3 transfer their votes to UJ.

UJ could avoid B2 based on the above theory.

Also i think the judges will give UJ the maximum ramp/praises/etc.
By:

I agree that UJ will get heavily ramped this week, but I see D3 voters going to James rather than UJ.

Personally there are a group of voters who dislike solo singers doing ballads or whatever and prefer groups.....it's logical to assume most will transfer their support from D3 to UJ.....

Why would they vote for James and not Chris, rylan, ella, jahmene?
By:
Dizzy42
When: 14 Nov 12 14:27
Transferred votes from D3 unlikely to make a major difference to any act IMO, but I agree more likely to go from one boy band to another...

Not sure I agree. The boybands will be getting most of their support from young females. These girls will have chosen to support their favourite band because thet fancy one, or more, of that band. For D3`s young female supporters to now vote for Union J could be compared to Liverpool fans supporting Everton, after Everton have knocked Liverpool out of the Cup. Hatred, rather than support, for a large number of them.
By:

As a Liverpool fan i would rather support Everton than any other teams based on the fact both teams are from the same city. If England failed to qualify for the world cup but Scotland did then i would support Scotland as they are part of UK rather than the Germans.

I can see tim's point and yours ski.

I tend to go with tim though in that silly young girls would tend to love their own act and hate the other rivals so would migrate to others with their votes rather than Union J.  That said Union J must pick up some of them of course.
By:

Well you said it Lou......'silly young girls' - so silly that they will blindly support the next good looking guy and the 4 solos guys are ugly compare to UJ guys.

I will ask my intelligent niece (16) to ask the 'silly young girls' at her school and see what they say?

Perhaps ski I take your point but I still think there won't be that much of a crossover myself.  Could well be wrong of course.

Fair enough ski, not a bad point to ask a lot of youngsters and get their views if she can.

It's not a question of right or wrong, no such a thing by the way, but a discussion of the possibilities.
By:

When: 14 Nov 12 15:39
Whilst OD 'singing' last week didnt do any of the boybands any favours even allowing for a probable bounce boost I am not convinced that UJ will escape the B2 this week Ski. They did receive a fair amount of praise from judges and to my ears put in one of their better performances on the sat show but in all probability still ended up bottom of public vote. The very fact that all 3 boys are still in will mean they should be saved but in my mind it will be by the judges and not the public.
