Tim will be OK, even if he lost, he's won a bit
down the years.

Some of the others though, yikes

Tim only wins when the person/candidate/party he wishes to win is successful. He probably got absolutely hammered as he would never have put a penny on Biden in a hundred years against Trump. Insider Trader probably took a hit also but not in the same league as Tim.

You would think chance a fiver, ok. Maybe even £50 if you have money to throw away, ok. However, there is someone on there with £2K on Trump who clearly hasn't even read the Betfair rules

There were also the threads of those betting on harris
and pence, again with zero knowledge

I say the same thing regularly, if you can remain unbiased in your politics betting, it is a licence to print money because there will always be plenty of folks who will never ever ever bet on certain parties to win irrespective of the odds.

yhtl.  Betfair isn't following it's rules so how can you be sure if Biden died of COVID they wouldn't have settled on Harris?  I asked for confirmation that they'd settle on Biden as per their rules and they wouldn't give it.

Yeah, it's like the books cleaning up for years
On England games, and local bookies laying local footy
teams way under the odds.

If only we had some sort of readily available unbiased
polls to guide us...

Be interesting to see if PA and GA markets are suspended at 5pm UK time
By:

When: 13 Dec 20 22:39
England had as usual qualified for the World Cup. They had a decent team but expectations as usual were way too high. I think the average price was around 9/1. An independent bookie in Scotland went 12/1 and laid England for roughly 20 million.

^^ seeing as state markets are based on the popular vote which was certified days ago, tomorrow's activities should have no relevance.
By:
CLYDEBANK29
When: 13 Dec 20 22:48
They weren't settled days ago though.  Betfair has implied they are settling on the Electoral CV on 14th Dec
By:
CLYDEBANK29
When: 13 Dec 20 22:49
seeing as they have said this, if they were professional, they would be aware when the Electors meet and suspend accordingly
By:
dave1357
When: 13 Dec 20 22:53
well obv, but as you know tomorrow has no relevance to their rules and if some GOP nobs start saying they won't recognise the electors, can we trust them to settle?
By:
politicspunter
When: 13 Dec 20 22:58
We can't trust them at all but they will probably pay out in the next couple of days or else the Gambling Commission are going to be inundated.
By:
CLYDEBANK29
When: 13 Dec 20 22:58
No we can't trust them, but they have strongly suggested it does to them, so I rate it odds on that they will.  If they were to suspend the GA and PA markets it would at least offer clarity and some level of integrity and aptitude, but I make that scenario odds against.

Yep, Hard to say who they might get the worst grief from, the Biden backers who they won't pay out to otr the Trump backers after they pay out on Biden Grin

That twitter thread of those Trump backers might provide us with a few good new laughs though

That's the thing,  the only reason the last six states haven't been settled is because of the flashing lights. So there is no reason for them to be doing states independently. They should really suspend all markets as soon as the first EC vote is due as it's like the judge announcing the winner of a photo in a horse race.

That Twitter thread is funny, but tbh it's mostly sad as it's people that don't have a clue and are following some mugs advice and parting with sums they may not be able to lose. That 2k bet Jesus

Could it be that these folks simply watch Fox News and read twitter Trump fraud conspiracy theories all day, every day ? They seem isolated from reality and are certainly going to be financially damaged if not perhaps mentally.

Or worse still, do they perhaps think they are betting on the "Next President" ie the one after Biden?

Oh dear, yes, that's possible too.

Market does state 2020,but they might
not even register that if new to betfair.
