Sarge I , like yourself , bet Biden to win and become president

That’s all

As did everyone else who bet Biden
Or Trump

Do I have to explain to you again
You didn’t bet on a ‘projected president ‘

You bet in who you thought would be president

Too difficult to understand?

Won't say too much more on this as don't want to indulge your trolling too much, but it doesn't matter what you *think* you were betting on. The rules are the rules.

You can still read it yourself and confirm that lfc is lying.

"This market will be settled according to the candidate that has the most projected Electoral College votes won at the 2020 presidential election. Any subsequent events such as a ‘faithless elector’ will have no effect on the settlement of this market."

Johnbetting only if the projected college votes are right will you get paid
They are not always right , if they are wrong and Biden doesn’t win the election

Then ( if you bet Biden ) you are not going to get your money
Why ? Because you lost and were wrong

The market rules are dependent upon the projected votes being right
Understand ?

Look at it this way :

If the projected college votes changes from Biden , to projected college votes for Trump
Then those are the projected votes that will count

Sorry

Look at it this way.

If the actual electoral college votes aren't the same as the projected electoral college votes, there must have been an event which happened subsequent to the projection, to change them.

So what do the market rules say?

Oh look.

Any subsequent events such as a ‘faithless elector’ will have no effect on the settlement of this market.

So no. We are betting on the projection, as per the rules.

On a side note, if we were betting on who the "Next President" will be, as you claim despite what the market rules say, then Mike Pence should be about 25, not 1000.

Trump to leave office before
end of term is about 10 on here!

Struggle to see them bypass pence
if that were to happen.
By:
lfc1971
When: 27 Nov 20 22:53
John , that is any subsequent event to the projected college vote
Once we know the projected college vote
The projected college vote can change and that will be the projected vote that counts

Then it’s any subsequent event after that

I know it’s subtle

Take a little time and think about it, you’ll get there

If the projection can change up to and including the meeting of the electoral college then it isn't a projection, is it, it's just a result. What is the point of including the word projection? What "subsequent events" could be intended by the term, if there is no "subsequent" period of time? The "projected result" has a clear meaning in US electoral politics, and it isn't what you seem to think it is.

You're like a man looking out of his window and claiming to be a brilliant weather forecaster because he can tell you the current weather where he is. It's not a forecast if you don't declare it until the thing you're forecasting has already happened.

It’s not difficult , they use the word projected because they haven’t taken place yet

That’s all They are projected , its a word

There’s no point reading words if you don’t understand words can
By:
lfc1971

They will always be ‘ projected ‘ until the vote takes place

Try again LFC.

They don't say "This market will be settled based on the projected winner of the horse race" just because it hasn't happened yet, do they?

If

"This market will be settled according to the candidate that has the most projected Electoral College votes won at the 2020 presidential election."

just means

"This market will be settled according to the candidate that wins the most Electoral College votes at the 2020 presidential election."

Then why put the word projected in in the first place?

Surely every betting market (apart from this one) is usually about things that haven't happened yet, otherwise it's a funny kind of betting.

lfc1971
When: 28 Nov 20 00:27
Yes , once we  know the projected electoral college votes
That can change ...as I think I’ve explained
By:
lfc1971
When: 28 Nov 20 00:36
Why do they use the term projected as a means to settle
Well it’s a question of time, unlike a horserace where you don’t have to wait very long
You know the winner quickly

So they use projected as a means of settling the bet in a reasonable timeframe
But ... it still has to be correct

Sometimes that takes more time

@lfc1971 - you seem to have misunderstood this market.

That's ok, the name "Next President" is misleading. As others have tried to tell you, you are actually betting on the winner based on the Electoral Vote total, which currently is 306 to 232 in favour of Biden.

What the rules said, although Betfair have apparently back-tracked on them today, is that even if 37 Electors switch from Biden to Trump, it would make no difference to the bet being settled as a win for Biden. It also makes no difference if Trump resigns and Pence takes over as next president.

You are betting on who the majority of Electoral College votes "should" be cast for and that will clearly be Biden.

Trump might leave so that Pence can pardon him. He technically cannot pardon himself.
