A fond farewell from me today as this will be my last post. It's been fun and I may make the odd
post in future just to keep in touch.
The closest I came yesterday was Chachamaidee who didn't quite seem to see out the mile but probably lost the race at the start as it lost many lengths and had to come from too far back.
2.30 Reckless Abandon 2 pts win
Beat Annunciation fair and square first time out and should confirm form at the weights. Hughes seems to have passed over Cay Verde which is a bit surprising so he must consider Annunciations's chance is better.
3.05 Momentary 4 pts win
This race has traditionally been a graveyard for Oaks contestants so I will pass them over and go for Momentary who beat Shirooco Star at Newbury and that one did best in the classic. It will...

I managed to find Most Improved at 9/1 yesterday and it would have been a bonanza day if Al Khawaneej had got there. Still blasting away today as follows:-
2.30 Sovereigh Debt 1 pt win
A very difficult race to assess but this one did well at the course last time albeit on softer ground. A form line through Tidentime gives it a bit of a chance.
3.05 Chachamaidee 5pts win - Max
A cracking race which looks like it will be fought out between the selection and Emulous. Form can be linked through Sahpresa and Alanza and the five pounds that Chachamaidee receives today could be the deciding factor. Henry Cecil is also in great form and this represents the bet of the day.
3.45 Planteur 1pt win
It was a toss up betwenn Farhh and Planteur here to take on So You Think and I just ...

Quality racing today with the start of the second best meeting of the year only surpassed by Glorious Goodwood. Fiercely competitive racing at a track that many don't act on with the draw conundrum thrown in for good measure. As this is my final week I have my first maximum bet for two months today !
2.30 FRANKEL
No bet but cannot take this one on so just watch and appreciate and hope nothing goes wrong.
3.00 ORTENSIA 1PT WIN PONTY ACCLAIM 1PT WIN
Impossible race which may go to a low drawn horse and the two I like best are Ortensia and Ponty Acclaim. Ortensia has the right profile as this race is often won by a foreign horse. I thought it had actually won at the course but the wins were at Ascot in Australia !. Ponty Acclaim has a possible chance on a form line through Caledonia...

A bit disappointed Valmina didn't hold on for the outright win on Saturday but it was a welcome winner nonetheless. I have posted here for the last three months and am deciding whether to continue with the blog and will decide after Ascot. As far as today goes :-
5.30 Wolverhampton - Harare 2 pts win
The market seems not to have fully recognised the performance of this horse as it currently trades at 11/2 or thereabouts and should really be a bit shorter - around 3/1 in my opinion. True it is now an eleven year old but the last two efforts have been those of an improved horse (under this rider) and it has won of much higher marks in the past. An open race but worth a bet at the price.
7.55 Warwick - Mid Mon Lady 2 pts win
This ran really well in the Zetland Gold Cup last...

Another blank day yesterday and all attempts to blast myself out of trouble have failed to date. I will continue to up stakes and hope for the best. Probably not the best policy but fortune favours the brave and I still have some accumulated profits although a lot less than before.
2.50 Sandown - Sams Sharpe 4 pts win Weapon Of Choice 4 pts win
The ground was desperate when Weapon Of Choice got back up to beat Sam Sharpe over course and distance in April and it looks the same again today. Sam Sharpe has a pound less to carry and it was it's first run this year when it got beaten. Weapon Of Choice comes from a stable in form and it a real battler and I find it hard to split the two. Both trade at 13/2 on here so two big bets on both and fingers crossed.
3.10 York - Nameitwhatyoulike...

3.05 York Local Hero 2.5 pts ew
This dual purpose horse has been running really well this year and is sure to benefit for the step up to 1 mile 6 furlongs. The form behind Grumeti and ahead of Dragonera at Ascot is really solid and he was doing all his best work at the finish. Looks sure to be placed today and 6/1 is available best odds guaranteed with VC which I have taken.
4.45 York Polish World 0.5 pts ew
Looks wide open this one and at the price I am prepared to have a small bet on Polish World who was the only horse to record a time faster than standard at Newcastle last time. York favours front runners so the course should suit. I would have preferred a lower draw but at 33/1 its all in the price.
Good luck

More of the same yesterday with Lindoro travelling well and moving alongside the leader, trades at 1.5, and then gets outbattled to finish second. That makes my last seven selections 3rd,2nd,3rd,3rd,2nd,2nd and 2nd.
I haven't had a huge amount of time to look at the cards as I am out today hence the early post so just one selection today :-
5.35 Newbury - SPARTAN SPIRIT - 2pts win
As this is an amateur riders race it is probably not wise to get too heavily involved but I understand this jockey has had some success previously so is probably as capable as the others. Spartan Spirit looked very useful when winning on his comeback run at Kempton and then was ridden a bit too confidently when beaten there next time up. The softer ground here will be different but the trainer's...

You will get nothing but honesty on this blog right from settling at sp to giving an account figure every day. This month has not gone to plan as a result of ground conditions, poor selections, overstaking at times and perhaps a little bit of bad luck - I will let you decide. However there is plenty of time to recover and achieve the objective of a profitable month.
There are some big price fancies running today but they probably won't win and it's winners I need right now so I will just stick with one bet today:-
4.20 Haydock - Lindoro 4 points win
Has been running well lately and the last effort behind Oratory was its best yet. Has yet to win at a mile but seemed to stay well enough at Carlisle and this is an easier track provided it doesn't get too soft. The Osteopath would ...

Mud,mud glorious mud !
I thought we had got away from this aweful weather but it looks like we will have to wait until Ascot before it brightens up. A move back to profit is required but I can't really go in too strong with conditions as they are. Like yesterday a modest punt or two today :-
3.00 Salisbury - Kingsdine 1 pt win George Benjamin 1 pt win
I feel fairly sure that one of these will win. My preference at the prices is for Kingsdine who has run well in both of it's races this season in better class. Although it has won on good to soft it does have rather a daisy cutting action and my fear is that it gets cut down by George Benjamin late on. A cautious point on each should give a return.
5.35 Salisbury - Sarangoo 0.5 pt each way
I will stick with the Saunders...

Two big misses on Saturday which again illustrates the thin line between success and failure.
Hakuna Matata battled to the front and hit 1.12 in running only for Le Chat D'or to get back up - a turn around of 12 points and instead of a profit I am left with a double figure loss for the month to date.
Today is really a powder dry day with the likely non runners and ground changes so just a small interest :-
3.15 Folkestone Chandigarh 1 pt win
This looks a match between Llewellyn and Chandigarh as they look like the only ones that will go on the ground. Llewellyn was good last time but may have been flattered by Benandonner running below par. Chandigarh won here in September after managing to get across to the stands side rail and at the prices is worth a small wager to do the...
