Yeah Byrnes has been quite quiet actually this year. I haven't seen him run anything other than those mentioned above.

I think Shrapnel improved due to Elliott as he said he found he had a chip on something or another when they got him and they fixed that up.

Ruby ,I was very disappointed with Don Cossack on Sunday.

I would have grave concerns about Elliot's ability to train graded horses to perform consistently.Ok his profile only rose dramatically after Silver Birch's win in 2007,also won an ebor,done well with Carlito at times.

Can you think of a horse that he has trained that has performed consistently well at graded level??

Looks like Davy Russell is going to Kempton for Sir Des Champs in the King George from what I can see


What do you see that i am missing?? I took the 10/1 NR-NB Sir Des Champs for the King George as it is simply massive value in my eyes if he turns up but i still would be surprised if he runs at Kempton. From what i have read Mullins has been his usual self and not committed to anything so god only knows where he will end up

Only consistent horse I can think of with Elliott tho. He doesn't have a lot of top talent so....A Spreadsheet would have been a decent idea but then again it takes far too much work and they whole thing is skewed as some trainers have more than others and run the bollicks out of them etc.

Premier looking at Leapardstown Davy won't be riding many winners there unless its the Maiden Hurdle, he would hardly go down to Limerick so Kempton looks very possible especially as they will have a few bog horses for the Lexus. Sir Des Champs I believe would be perfectly suited to Kempton as he get some proper ground to race on. It might be sharp enough but he has a change of gear its just he cant show it on our terrible ground.

Weapons Amnesty will not be appearing in the Lexus but possibly in the Xmas Hurdle on the same card...

cheers ruby.i think he was entered earlier in yr but never ran.always thought Byrnes did well enough for em.weapons amnesty obviously but he won plenty with moderate horses like campbonnais.trifolium and sea of thunder did quite well I spose last yr and it looks like a good bit of training now to get Arnaud into fifth in Fred winter having travelled well along way out.other trainers with less success for giggy seem to be getting more horses now ala Nolan and Murphy in Wexford.

the jurys still out with midnight for me ruby....only one horse to beat plus the fact he also had a pacemaker , it took him all his time to win as well ...

of course hes a decent horse , but you were talking c/hurdle .....

Too lazy to go to anything today and nothing other than Rough Justice shouting out at me at a price.

Think I leave well enough alone and just enjoy watching it for once.

It's time for Gigginstown to start having a hard look at the way they run their operation. Leopardstown has been a complete embarrassment. Who buys their horses? Who makes the entries? Too many horses and too many trainers who are past their sell by date.Form figures for their last 30 runners; 0020000P02PFPP00003U01033020U2. 

Graham Wylie had two entries at Leopardstown and bagged two Grade ones.

Richie Ricci has had 5 winners from his last 9 runners including two Grade ones and a Grade 2.

Alan Potts has had a Grade one winner from only a handful of runners.

Even the much maligned JP Mc Manus operation has had a Grade one winner in the last few days.

Where is it all going wrong? Someone with an ego like Michael O'Leary wont let this continue.

Well when trainers like Martin and Byrnes are in on the action it really is time to worry

What a disaster of a Christmas.

First of all Sir Des Champs....are they schooling this fella at home?? his jumping has been terrible and he still nearly one yesterday. The engine is still there but one has to wonder is Mullins taking it too easy schooling.

Mouse Morris once again proves he is a fantastic trainer as he bring FL back from Newbury to nearly win the Lexus a cracking run and the Gold Cup is now a realistic option. What a superb trainer.

I have said before there buying of horses leaves a lot to be desired. They are buying too much Irish Point rubbish...they need to start actually buying point winners rather than stores. Some of there purchases can barely even win a race despite running a dozen odd times. Its ridiclous.

Where was Nolan and Murphy with there very expensive recruits this xmas. Hurt was terrible.

Their selection of trainers amazes me. MOL was quoted some years back that he would prefer to have just a few trainers. Dont like the idea of one jockey riding for an owner. I reckon for a number of reasons it is better to have a stable jockey on the horses. Their buying policy possibly leaves them with a lot of slow horses. With current policy they will never win a champion hurdle or a champion chase. Whatever there is something not totally right about the whole operation.
