Surprising that Gigginstown didn't even have a runner in the Grade 3 chase at Thurles yesterday,decent prize money and only 5 runners.

I think they are going to have to change their buying policy and buy some speedier types,also need to streamline their operation and  use less trainers.

Having an early look at Cheltenham,not much potential for such an extensive operation.

Novice Hurdles-Un Atout been weak on here recently but definitely has potential and perhaps Don Cossack's last run might not be his true running.

Yes he could run in the stayers,seventh favourite on here(23.0).Would you rate him that highly Wildman??

Bog Warrior has never raced over further than 20f and looks like he needs cut in the ground-

After race at Naas Sat, 11th Feb, 2012 (1st) I wouldn't be adverse to missing Cheltenham this season as he is definitely a winter ground horse. It was a relief to win - we were gutted at Christmas with what happened (fell at Leopardstown). He had been jumping so well up to that and it's good to get that out of the way with and get him back winning. He got a fair scare at Christmas and it knocked him for a bit. He started back the right way but I don't know where he goes now. He is a horse who I wouldn't subject to running on good ground, he has a real round action. A J Martin

An enigma of a horse,no doubt he has ability but doesn't completely convince me about his appetite for a battle,has he had breathing issues??

As for his most recent success at Punchestown,visually very impressive but it was Solwhit's first race for 2 years.Most are saying that the form is solid through the consistent staying article but I would  dispute that form because it was half a mile further than he had ever run before and in heavy ground,Simenon is a good ground horse being handicapped in bad ground and I would rate the performance through Belle Brook.

Trip is an unknown but this year the ground at Cheltenham could be soft,the horse was badly trained last year,he may have hurt himself but his confidence is gone chasing.Wise Oscar winning at Fairyhouse is probably not relevant but the fact they backed Solwhit is,they obviously thought he was back to his best,what are his options they have nothing to lose and as DJ 876 points out they have nothing else for that race.

I think MOL has said the trust of the operation is to produce staying chasers with the objective of winning another Gold Cup and if that is achieved through either Sir De Champs or First Lietenant they will regard the season as a success. They haven't been firing in the winners recently but I still think the basics of the operation is sound. The have far less deadwood than J.P.McManus.

Nice to see Midnight Oil show something decent today. Martin's in the bumper was ridden from the back of the field and never really was given any chance to win by Carberry. In fairness Winner is 2 stone better than he was today so no complaints.

LAST INSTALMENT, unbeaten in four starts as a novice chaser, has met with another setback and will not be seen in action this season.

The eight-year-old jarred a tendon when landing the Grade 1 Dr P J Moriarty Chase at Leopardstown last February and has not run since.
His trainer Philip Fenton on Sunday confirmed that the Gigginstown House Stud-owned dual Grade 1 winner’s comeback will be delayed until later this year at the earliest.

Fenton said: “Unfortunately we discovered a bit of heat in Last Instalment’s near-fore tendon and he is going to need plenty of time off. It was the other front leg that was the problem last season and we’re just hoping that we will have him back at some stage next season.”

Last Instalment achieved the first of his Grade 1 wins in the Topaz Fort Leney Novice Chase at the 2011 Leopardstown Christmas meeting.

Un Atout. Anyone have an opinion on him. like what I have seen so far. Will it be supreme or Neptune the plan if things go ok?

Toostrong was finally found in Mullins yard and badly needed that effort. One wonders still being so green and inexpierenced why they waited this long to get him out. Most horses need better ground but he looks like he was not enjoying it very much. Jumped decently for his debut.

Last Installment injured again and goes just like Dunguib. Forget about him now.

Haven't seen anything Tascro but I trust Noel Meade to plot out his campaign. I thought he should have run him more last year but Meade knows what he is doing.

I think he be aimed at Punchestown personally!

i backed today wildmanfromborneo , i was a little late getting there so never had a chance to watch him in the paddock ..he seemed to jump well enough , till making a mistake 3 out ...your pal greenstreet said to someone near me as we left the old stand that he'd never seen punchestown as heavy ....willie diakali was impressive ..i thought he was running with the choke out early ..but he jumped for fun and could have gone around again...

i thought otherwise ,  it seemed to me he popped over them at a really fast pace ..i found little fault with that performance ......thats what racing is all about ..opinions ....he has a lovely stride on him ....

Un atout is a superstar..... He is wheel barrow job every time he runs. He will be carrying buckets of my money in the future. Great week for the twam ....Tofino Bay is some leapper. Irish grand national for me

Wrath, Drunken Counsel and Air Marshal all new horses for the team.

Hopefully now they will crack on over the weekend and get a few more winners. Operating at a 20% strike rate and made 878k British pounds in prize money. Well on there way to breaking last year record amount.

They keep going up and up....now we have all be critical but at least its the right direction. Big losses were Weapons Amensty and Last Installment, few operations in NH game would be second thinking about the game after that.

Bog Warrior is a Cheltenham horse and looks tailor made for the World Hurdle and he has got there in the exact same way as Big Bucks.
