I always thought you could be forced to give a blood sample at the copshop..
|
|
By:
People were always told to request a blood test 30 years ago. Whether true or myth, a doctor would have to be called out to take the sample, giving anyone borderline a chance to get under the limit in the time it took a doctor to arrive.

Brilliant write up by ICY …
Mr C…Total agree We’ve all got skeletons in our cupboard we’ve probably all had people that’s done you or something wrong and you take it once and say let’s move on and if it happens a second time then it’s hold on a minute… But a third fourth time etc then you deserve what you get surely that’s fair if he’s seriously hurt someone then he needs punished and made aware of his actions no mater who he is this should not be swept under the carpet… |

Sucking copper coins and smoking a ciggie were other ‘get out of jail’ ideas.

The cop programmes on tv eg Police Interceptors, Motorway Cop, etc, have never forced any driver who's failed a roadside breath test to provide a specimen at the Police station if the driver steadfastly refuses. But, the driver has always been found guilty of drink-driving, and punished accordingly.

Which planet was that on Impossible?

I remember driving home a few miles one new years day the morning after, must have been well over the limit, thankfully I got away with it but didn’t do it again and can’t understand the mindset of people who do it over and over.

Some people won’t drive after three pints but they will after eight or ten. They go from knowing what is right to not giving a feck.

his problem is not the fail to provide. It is this

Judging by how quickly our justice system works I wouldn't advise backing for the 2035 jockeys title.

are you allowed to drink in Qatar ?

I've never read such a load of absolute tripe as that email someone posted by "icy" whoever he is.
Someone said he's banned from twitter , if memory serves me right he is the vile individual who was red flagged for abusing jockeys . Death threats and the like , so an utter low life cretin. What's worse is some morons will probably believe what he writes - coached to within an inch of his life by a pr team, utter drivel.... Yawn yawn yawn. Half of the posters on this thread would be more suited to living in Iran with the morality police taking people away and executing them for any infringement which they perceive as suitably offensive. Thank goodness I live in the UK, though reading half the posts make me fear for our freedom in this country if that's the way some of the posters think.. . |

it's nowt to do with 'freedom' ffs one10.

you can't expect to just wo whatever the hell you want without consequences can you ?

If the identification of the jockey was accurate; the reports by various newspapers (not the Racing Post) of the motor accident is correct; the resulting injury to his young lady passenger is accurate; the refusal to provide a specimen to police when requested is accurate, then Mr Murphy should voluntarily stop riding forthwith.
At present I'd deem his professional position on and off track is neither untenable nor safe to his counterparts. I think the BHA ought to be proactive now, and not wait for an outcome of legal proceedings. Mr Murphy has a long history of transgressional behaviour of the track I believe should check himself into a Priory Clinic for rehabilitation immediately (if he's sensible). |

Why wasn’t he arrested at the scene,if you crash your car ,no problem, can refuse a breath test, which is basically the same sentence as being over the limit.
But if another person his injured, then this isn’t a driving offence anymore, unless the lady was only mildly injured and was stating there’s no problem etc. He’s refused, because He can now say he wasn’t over the limit, because obviously, another drink issue might be one too many. So a refusal gives him a tiny loop hole of denial. He is a great jockey, but he also is very well connected. Even when banned he was on racing tv as a presenter at royal ascot. It’s great people support their mate, employee, Everyone deserves a second chance and a way back, but how many chances. |
|
By:
He was arrested, and then bailed. He can still ride unless the BHA steps in and deems he'd be a danger on the track and to his fellow jockeys.
However, if he was a driver eg bus/lorry, his boss would immediately suspend him even before his driving licence has been taken away. He'll lose his job soon after no doubt. But, the BHA being the BHA nothing is done until he's found guilty of drink-driving and causing an accident. Even then it's only driving, not horse riding - the jurisdiction of the BHA - despite with a history of substance abuse and a ban for using cocaine. |
|
By:
Any mention of a drug swipe ?? I would have thought with his history it would have been a priority.
|
|
By:
He’s already guilty, failing to provide is same as over the limit, but yeah, technically nowt to do with riding.
But can’t say,we need to wait for the outcome, the outcome is a slam dunk given failure to provide. Given his previous,a tricky decision. Let’s face it,everyone knows he was over the limit, Only way he can continue is a breath test before every meeting, Mind you I can see his piles getting worse if that’s the case. |

If it was Kieren Fallon back in the day, the bha would have thrown the book at him.
|
|
By:
And rightly so.A horrible individual tbh,and don’t give me the brilliant rider nonsense.
|
|
By:
off topic but i can really only remember two flat jockeys in my lifetime who seemed 'unstoppable' at times aceform...
(might just be my imagination playing games with me of course)... a) Pat Eddery b) Kieren Fallon. |
|
By:
They’ll be up there in the top bracket hibb….
Terrible list tho…..Captain Black invention did a lot of damage….Rogers,Lynch and countless others… Murphy if found guilty should have the book thrown at him….pee taker… |
|
By:
i would take the other view of it tbh aceform...
it documented some of what was/is going on on a daily basis imv... but when you have authorities who don't really want to dig too deep then it has become pretty much a free-for all imv. |
|
By:
Quite honestly hibb if they had to dig deep they wouldn’t know where to start…
Imagine everything being brought to the surface… Authorities turn a blind eye every day tbh….. Look at the circus on the Thames…. |
|
By:
all they would need to do is pop on here and that would give them a good leg up where to start aceform...
it's blatantly obvious they don't want to dig too deep coz they know they will find plenty... even if it does take a bit of paper trailing... as i've said before... i know someone who would have been perfect for the BHA integrity team... didn't get a look in... laughable imv. |
|
By:
Take Newcastle AW,they don’t miss a trick tbf….they will have list of rodents tbh…
|
|
By:
Lol,and the gravy train scowl at fodder who complain…

The "circus" on the Thames? It's not a talent playground but who you know eg Mr Khan was a nondescript lawyer; a journeyman lawyer not liked or regarded/respected by his counterparts. Yet, he managed 3 terms as London Mayor. He's as thick as 2 planks, his voters are no better. How and why? It's brotherhood, from the immigrants in London. Even so many dislike him intensely. His legacy will be Ulez which is a very stupid, stupid and ill-timed tax on the poor esp in suburbs outside Central London.
