Cheers kiw. They're giving it as good (g/f in places). Would have liked to seen it softer for him and for the one that just ran. Heading for a -8 at this rate

nice one george,I saw your thread and it read well, only trouble I had was I took 29/1, thought it might go in!

Thanks again. Funnily enough, I was just thinking before the race - I've got to stop doing these more speculative ones and just stick to the more 'solid' selections
![]() Just the one placer unfortunately, KC, the Hannon horse still looked green imo and could only manage 4th. |

No, hang on, one winner and one placer = 2 places. You were right, KC

KC, you may wish to look away now.....61 BFSP . Which tbh was needed to improve the thread's stats overall, so I'm grateful the race was run before they abandoned! |

Cheers knaves, it required a leap of faith given how far he'd been beaten on those two previous runs, but save his HQ win, his overall record screams a preference for juice in the ground, and thankfully there was enough for him this evening.

Data Protection, 5.40 Chepstow, 1pt win @ 4-1
Data Protection wasn't without market support when making his debut over 5f at Wolverhampton, and he might well have gone close to justifying it had he not found his path blocked in the straight. The change in surface is a complete unknown, but he looks like he has a good attitude and that may stand him in good stead if this becomes a relative slog for these juveniles. Satchville Flyer, 6.40 Chepstow, 1pt EW @ 40-1 A bit risky this as stamina is a concern, but at the odds a chance is taken. Satchville Flyer had been catching the eye on the AW during the winter with his late headway finishes, and he shaped better than than his final finishing position suggested last time out on his return to turf over 6f at Windsor when getting no luck in the run. He has won over a stretch 7f, and there might have been excuses on his previous attempts at a mile and beyond, so hard to be sure about his stamina limitations. Satchville Flyer seems to act well at Chepstow, running out an emphatic winner over 6f at the track last June on soft gound (albeit off a significantly lower mark), and when just held despite not getting the best of runs off 4lb lower than today's mark at the track over 7f last August. King Of Swing, 1pt win @ 10-1, 7.10 Chepstow King Of Swing hasn't offered much for his current yard and has come down the ratings as a result, but possible artificial surfaces / quick turf haven't been ideal, and interesting to see if the return to easier turf prompts an improved performance. Dora's Field, 1pt win @ 15-2, 7.40 Chepstow The notebook run was her reappearance in a maiden at the Craven Meeting last season when not knocked about and shaping nicely; she failed to win once entering handicaps, but she did run well at Beverley off today's mark of 69 to finish a head runner-up in a race that didn't work out too badly. Her best form has come with some ease in the ground, and the stable switch to Stuart Kittow is an interesting one, given he trained her half-brother and seven times winner Dove Cottage. Niven, 8.50 Killarney, 1pt EW @ 16-1 Niven shaped well on his seasonal return over 7f at Leopardstown, making nice progress in the straight from an unpromising position until finding his path blocked inside the final furlong; disappointing he didn't build on that pipe opener when upped to 10f at Cork last time, making only laboured late progress from off the pace. Connections now reach for headgear and if the visor has a positive effect then he's certainly fallen to a favorable mark, being 6lb lower than when successful over 9.5f at Gowran last season on heavy ground. There is a slight stamina query, but a chance is taken at a double figure price, with the ground having come in his favour. |

i'm going to take you on in the 1st at chepstow(5.40) george with MAY REMAIN.
caught my eye fto at windsor and there's winners come out of that race, being by mayson should have a good a chance as any handling soft ground(doubt there will be any good come this evening) shortish price the downside ![]() |

Good luck kiw, the RPRs give yours a bit in hand on the limited evidence available.
He looks an interesting one, bobbyjo, interesting to see how he goes in the market come race time. I'd say less is definitely more when you do these threads, madhatters, but with the change in the ground a few looked of interest and I got a bit carried away! |
|
By:
good luck with your selections I will definately have a look
|

Not been looking in much George, wd yesterday. I've backed Detatchment 3.30, thought it would be too short but drifty on here. Too early too be sure, but might have won here lto and dropped 2lb.
|
|
By:
Dishcloth, if past history is anything to go by, two consecutive winning days on this thread may be asking a bit much, but I live in hope! Good luck today.
Big eyecatcher lto saddo, and an unknown quantity. The 7s or whatever it was last night didn't last long. I see AH has put it up at the reduced price this morning. |

Back down to earth with a bump. The two EW selections both finished fourth, Satchville Flyer never looked like getting placed and just plugged on, while Niven looked like he might win as he loomed up travelling well in the straight but didn't see it out.
Of the 3 win selections, only Dora's Field raised my hopes, but she ultimately found one too strong. Which all means 7 points lost on the day ![]() May Running Total P/L : +45.85 Win stat: 5/35 (14%) Place stat: 12/35 (34%) Points staked so far: 57 Overall Running Total P/L : +23.3 Win stat: 12/110 (11%) Place stat: 33/110 (30%) Points staked so far: 189 Points won on multiples: 3.25 (included in overall P/L) |

Master Carpenter, 1pt EW @ 16-1, 2.20 York
Master Carpenter hasn't won for nearly two years, his last win being the one time he raced over todays's C/D, in the 2015 John Smith's Cup when rated 9lb higher than he is now, under today's jockey Philip Makin. A number of his runs since have come in small field Group / Listed races in which he hasn't been disgraced on occasions behind useful sorts. So it's interesting to note that he's only had three opportunites since that major handicap win to race in big field handicaps, one being the 2015 Cambridgeshire when a mark of 110 might have been too much, and the other two such runs have come this season, when not disgraced in the Lincoln when probably at a disadvantage racing near the stands' rail, and last time in the Spring Cup at Newbury when a below par run can perhaps be excused on account of the good to firm ground. He has to be of interest returned to this course and distance for the first time since that John Smith's Cup win, with his Lincoln run perhaps better than it looked, and the handicapper giving him a chance. |
