Shocking turn of events, obviously gave absolutely everything.
So sad. |

By:
That really is very sad news.

Shame however the next race is on, plenty to bet on.
The shame of all this, I am one, will be gutted what has happened, yet, we will forget in a few days until the next one HAPPENS,we will say same things, shame on us all that bet. |

Devastating for all concerned, backed him in the Hennessy and the national,,always thought that if I ever was lucky enough to own a racehorse it would be one like him...my fiver ew will be saddest winner to collect on.

Alien Sex Fiend
whether we bet or not is irrlevant. I would like to think most on here love horse racing and get attached to certain horses. Yes, life goes on, when someone dies, whether human or animal, but ffs, show a bit of respect even if you dont mean it... |
|
By:
Could have won the Gold Cup and gone down as one of the very few to do the big double

By:
I won't forget Many Clouds as I had £25 @ 40-1 when he won the Grand National, and he brought me out of a losing run at the time. Very sad news.

Well said aberdonia.

By:
these horses give a lot and sometimes pay the penalty
it was known this horse had problems so why race him? |
|
By:
We should not forget any horse cricketnut2, do we cry more because they were a legend.
My last word on this matter as I feel like a hypocrite. |
|
By:
I don't think he was being disrespectful, just trying to put it in perspective. Dangerous sport, some of em will die.
|
|
By:
Went out swinging like a true champ there, wore his heart on his hoove, didn't know when to stop trying. Real shame. Was hard to not see him winning his 2nd National in April too.

I feel nowadays people go overboard when these things happen. Is it the PC Brigade again?? All these so called tears by Lydia will be gone tonight

Always quote Tennyson when these great chasers lose their lives on the battlefield
Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. |

One of the few times I have actually felt genuinely upset after a race that had nothing to do with the result. I had no financial investment and feel awful

|
By:
Bravest, toughest horse I've ever seen race. Deeply saddened that his light has dimmed and died so suddenly. he ground down and triumphed over arguably the most talented 3m chaser of his generation, and gave absolutely everything in order to do so--including his life. Forever a horse to go to war with. An equine hero.
|
|
By:
Same here, Fife. I think it was the manner in which he died, that made it sadder than usual.
|
|
By:
Kirstin , I shed a tear too and I am far from PC you stupid little prick.
|
|
By:
Kriskin,
what the fck has the "pc brigade" got to do with anything?. When Ten Plus died at the 3rd last in Dessie's gold cup, nearly 30 years ago i was gutted as well. And like Dunlaying i call a spade a spade. |
|
By:
he has a point about things getting hyped up to things that they are not but I'm as cynical as gets tbh and I'm upset about MC
![]() genuine raw emotion today, lost a star of the sport ![]() |

aber - wonders has answered my reference above in his first part of his post. Nothing else to say on the matter. Good luck

I think Lydia's upset was sincere, sounded that way

how far after the winning line did horse go down ?
did horse come to a walk or go down in stride not many do anything after winning a national so obviously a special animal constitution wise and very sound as he was having trouble after that race so will be interesting to hear the autopsy and see what can be learned . |
|
By:
we had a spell of about 10 years where every national winner never won another race
|
|
By:
![]() respect to Oliver for coming on |
|
By:
massive respect, summed it up perfect in that interview
|
|
By:
Only hope the anti horse racing brigade don't try to make something of his passing .....
|
|
By:
Would be an own goal for them if they did

They are bound to, it is their job.

Very very sad and on what we saw to day a Gold Cup class horse who managed to win the Grand National and the Hennessey off of high handicap weights earlier in his career.
He seemed to be walking around ok straight after the race but went down when they were reviewing the finish. The crowd just went silent. Probably a heart attack he was in trouble after a race at Kelso last year and needed Oxygen. A horse that gave everything that achieved greatness in 2015. |
