I do not play cards HFT but remember reading about an Ex Online Poker Site Owner leaving in "software" that enabled him to fleece his opponents for chunks of money.

I have lost fortunes on the site and yet I cannot play on the Sportsbook... Not sure who makes the Trading Decisions but what I do know is that each alleged firm of "Bookmakers" is in collusion and have a list of names that will not be tolerated in having a bet.The FOBTS in the "Betting Shops" are on borrowed time and it will not be long before the rancid practices online go the same way... |

Raymond Bitar of Glendora, California, founder of Full Tilt Poker, was accused last year by the U.S. government of running his business like a Ponzi scheme. On Monday he apologized via videotape from a Los Angeles courtroom for promising the money the company held in player's accounts was safe. Full Tilt Poker allegedly owed more than $300 million to players across the globe, prosecutors said. Full Tilt Poker, previously the world's second most-popular online poker site, operated from 2004 to 2011 when the U.S. Justice Department shut it down and accused executives of bank fraud, money laundering and illegal gambling, reported CNET.com. The U.S. government charged Bitar and 10 other people connected to online gambling sites Full Tilt Poker, PokerStars and Absolute Poker in April 2011, reported IrishTimes.com. Bitar was arrested when he landed at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport in July 2011. Twelve months later, Full Tilt Poker surrendered all its assets to the Department of Justice, which then sold those assets to Poker Stars for $731 million, reported CompatiblePoker.com. Of that purchase amount, $330 million was administered by the Justice Department’s Asset Forfeiture Section to reimburse Full Tilt’s U.S. players. Yesterday in Mahattan federal court, Bitar was sentenced to time served and ordered to forfeit $40 million. Online poker is seriously dodgy no doubt about it. the idiots that go chasing their 1 outers and hitting them is too daft to laugh at, it makes you feel sick when some total clown chases it and hits it, sorry but you'd never see this many bad beats at a casino playing live, people who say "you play more hands online" talk total bo llox imo, play 5000 hands live and 5000 online and you will see more bad beats online trust me, the amount of times your premium hands don't hold (AA KK QQ AKsuited) up online is not right imo, they are being beat to people with 47off suits far too much, they give the idiots the outers to chase raking in the rake of course.
Its still fun but I wouldn't play for big money as it would probably clean you out, possibly through "tilting" at the bad beats you get. |

Another thing I've noticed online is the amount of times you will both get premium hands (you get QQ he gets AK), of course your both going to play the hand, both go raising and the amount of times you see a QAK flop is just silly, you've got your set but he's top pair, he'll go in whatever you raise trust me as he's got a monster hand also.

For the hosting companies it's all about the rake, hence the dodgy hands that go out. How many of us have held KK only to find the player immediately to the left holds AA? The beating of solid hands by crap is way above the norm too, which encourages poor players to deposit more and keep trying when they eventually lose, which of course they eventually will do.

The top players make a living because their knowledge and skill will see them through, but average to poor players haven't got a cat in hells chance, the top players will read the board better and realise with that QAK flop the other players most likely is playing a K or A so he will proably be more cautious when raising, the average players will think "I've got Qs so I'm all in" only to get done to a full house on the turn or river, the rake made from that one pot makes up a hell of lot, it is all about the rake online.
If taking poker serious I'd suggest paying it live, with real people, play online for fun, small stakes. |

The hosting company pry on the "idiot players", they want them badly, their the one's that will keep depositing after a "bad beat".
Anyone with half a brain can what online poker is after about a week of playing it, far too many unrealistic boards and premium hands being dealt out, esp when someone gets AA 3 hands in a row and gets beats all 3 times with them.... Go figure |

I'm critical of online poker but I seem to be handling it well at the moment, just beat somebody on heads up (low stake level 10p/20p blinds granted ) but took over £20 off them, I just seem to see a lot of unrealistic hands with online poker, I had KK 3 times in 4 hands, I had QJdiamonds 3 times in 5 hands, I had AA twice in a row. Like I said online poker is a little dodgy with the random card generator, but I've learned not to be overly aggressive on it and plays the hands to what I think there worth, make sure there's no flush draw on the flop, see if there's a realistic straight on the board that the opp could have, put your opp on something if they're raising over the top etc. Its all good fun but not willing to move back to medium stakes until I've learned the game a bit more. |

Totally agree with you about online poker.... Listen to some of these fu cking bad beats that I got last night, and I've just come off the Ladbrokes chat after having it out with them, got some idiot drone mind you who was just reading from a script A2345 beat to 34567... the 7 was on the river... he was chasing a 7 ffs K flush done to a A flush... he needed runners to get his flush as his A was a spade but 6 was a diamond, he went chasing runners and got it on the river Quad 7s beat to quad 9s.... he chased the quad 9 all the way and got it on the river. 78910j straight beat to 8910JQ straight.... he needed the Q and went chasing it all the way to the river and nailed it. and finally but not the last as I could go on all day about bad beats online... AAA1010 full house beat AAAJJ full house... yeap, you guessed it he went chasing the J and hit it on the.... RIVER!!!!!. Lost nearly £100 in that one session, he was hitting more river cards, the amount of times my A hight was leading only for him to hit one of his whole cards for a pair to do me was ridiculous. have since withdrawn the rest of my funds (I'm about £40 down) and un-installed the program and will not be playing online ever again, will stick to live poker thank you very much My advice is get your funds withdrawn then get the program un-installed, as its a big fat scam, don't give me that BS about playing more hands either KOD, the bad beats I had above was in one session, the last 3 days has seen my good hands bad beated on the river about 30 times, its all for rake and that's it. It has something to do with the players being so bad but how many times do they give them their 1 outers, 2 outers on the river??? if they played live they would maybe get them 20% of what they get online... random?!?! get fu cked Took me a month to realise what online poker is and thank god I've got it out my system, could have saved me 100s if not 1000s. online poker = scam Racingstar said it best the other day.. This is the best one on Wednesday I had AK he had 106, I raised pretty big, he called, flop 9 2 J, I raised, he re-raised, I raised over him again he called, turn a 10, I raised he called, river was a 6, I raised he went all in so I folded... You telling you'd call a big raise pre-flop with 10 6 ?????????????????, premim hands don't hold as much as they should online. No doubt KOD will arrive in a bit to shoot me down, but would anyone on here call a biggish raise with 10 6? Its funny, and I am actually laughing at how bad online poker is, no longer angry which is good, as anger makes you go back, I'm now resigned to online poker being a scam, which is good as it stops me going back. |

Ghost had the right idea but I'm suspicious he's also gone through what I've gone through, which is bad beat after bad beat, the only way to know what me and maybe ghost have gone through is to play it, learn it first as you wont know what we mean, then play it after you've come to understand the game, play 20000 hands live, start building up a knowledge of the game and then go online, the difference is massive from live to online, I'm thankful I'm not easily swayed to keep going back to chase losses, as you could your house playing it.

It seems bad beats are the "standard" online, which is not right, being bad beated with some of the hands I had is "standard" is it, full houses being done on the river, flushes being done on the river, sets being done on the river, straights being done to higher straights on the river.. if that's standard and people accept that it shows how brainwashed people have become, I accept bad beats happen but not at the consistent level that happens online, AA hardly ever holding up, they only seem to hold up when they fold, which keeps up the SR of them holding up, but how often are they cracked when they call the bet?, I'd say 70% of the time, and that's "standard".. nope not for me, its not standard its a rake money making scam, and it seems only a few of us see it for what it is which again is pretty sad.

How often would get those big hands live ffs, never mind them being beat to better hands I once played for 8 hours straight in a casino and never once had a full house, I had a straight about twice, I had sets but only a few times, flushes were very hard to come by, but yet I won plenty of pots. Yet had sets, straigts, QUADS!!!, flushes, full houses regularly in 2 hours last night............ Standard |

You know it was players who uncovered the Ultimate Bet super user? As I said thousands of players monitor them. Sites like PokerTableratings collect billions of hands, they find bots (player run) from statistical analysis of betting patterns. There is no way that a mainstream site could rig the deal without being discovered.
