There's only one way to settle this, lads, a Colonel vs Saint Hugh tipping challenge from today until the end of October, with P+L settled at ISP.
I believe both gentlemen have put up 2 selections today. You up for it, Colonel? |
By:
in which case my 'whatever, colonel' was pretty much spot on, wasnt it?
By:
lol nice idea George..But i have already put a thread up this year which will in all likeliness blow him out of the water if i never had a bet for the rest of my life and he punted for 50 years..I have also hit a 800x initial stake after that run.i cannot put up such selections now because it would be a "conflict of interest" for my syndicate..All the best..

It was Dunc, that is why i was laughing..gl
By:
Duncan, I'm guessing that Hugh Taylor is a friend/colleague of yours...??
By:
Or boyfriend Millhouse??
By:
never met the guy, millhouse, and have no knowledge of him personally at all
..and, yes, you are exactly right with everything you say about the column ...and if the colonel could have the odds on all his fancies halved and still turn a profit, i take my hat off to him too. |

Strands doesn`t really understand.
By:
nmr hugh says first sel halved in price before it was on atr.thats according to his twitter feed.(flynns boy 3.10 yarm weve got no chance
By:
these horses shorthen in price because other people have spotted they are overpriced...Hugh isnt the only person with a formbook and video recorder....not simply a case of there being a leak at ATR
By:
weve got no chance
That's absolutely 100% the idea... |
By:
some of these markets open at 4pm the day before.
Coming in 18 hours after every other thief has waxed their plums doesn't seem to be working... |

I agree, being a night owl I'd love it if he started putting his column up the night before, as he seems to do a lot of the work day before. |

+1000pts |
By:
they priced up run of the mill handicaps at 4pm the day before 3 years ago?
indeed.... |
By:
losing run only started a month ago...profit majority of months prior to that
By:
have to admit the current climate affects the price everyone gets.
It affects Hugh he's said it himself, his first pick is sometimes gone in price. Waterford Star was a good example the other day. 100/30 opening doors. |

The bookies changed their prices within seconds of todays selections, his column therefore is pointless as its supposed to be about seeking value, there is only value if you can actually obtain the price which is now near impossible, with this in mind it might now be more worthwhile to lay his selections seeing as most of them end up much less than the price quoted...
If he is up nearly 1000points since he gave out tips whats the profit/loss on laying his selections at sp giving that most are much less than the price??? Would that be more profitable??? |
By:
his column therefore is pointless as its supposed to be about seeking value....sadly this is true
Would that be more profitable???....dont know...afraid you're going to have to work that out yourself |
By:

If you lose money backing them, you don't have to be Holmes to know that someone is making money laying them ;) |

had to laugh at the corals rep on ruk.
"they backing cityscape" for some reason. they must think we all stupid. |

07 Jul 12 13:12 I lay his tips (let the sheep get on first)...made me enough in the last 15 months to buy my mrs a brand new Porsche cayenne..that should answer anyone's question Just whizzed thru Hugh's tips off ATR site for Jan-June 2012 to see how you would have fared with a £100 lay on every selection at BSP (ie even if Hugh put up 3pt Win i still treated it as a £100 lay not a £300 lay). These are the figs before you take into account upto 5% commission on each of hundreds of winning lays:- Jan +2540 Feb -1835 March +1232 April -5393 May +1135 June +2271 Total -£50.00 So you would have made a 50 quid loss BEFORE all the commission you have paid on the winners is taking into account Hope that Porsche isnt a gas guzzler, colonel! |
By:
Key word old boy "BSP"...And yes it is a gas guzzler..All the best..

Don't agree with everything Duncan has posted on this fred, but his last post is a belter. ![]() |

By:
backing under bsp on his tips is piece of pish..they normally have a set pattern..It aint rocket salad kids..
By:
Like anyone would lay at bsp duh..
By:
Duncan give it a rest for fooks sake...
Hugh does what the Seagull does and picks out a bit of value... Not too hard... The hard bit is getting on especially when those in the know have had their cards marked before the selections go online... Nice work if you can get it..... If only I could have a website where I could post my selections having backed them earlier... Coming soon homefortea.co.uk |

Cityscape was a strange one for Hugh today! Surely, all the value had gone before today, and if he'd known the CoC was a C o c k, he wouldn't of put it up anyway. Good to Soft? No way Jose!
