As no one can argue that the effect of the column is anti-punter, Duncan...

I have a lot of respect for Hugh Taylor and he often produces thought provoking arguments.
However, his figures are not realistic as they are achieved by using prices with some Mickey Mouse layers.
In the real world you would struggle to get more than twenty quid on.  Also some of his e/w plays
that have been successful would not be possible unless you're betting to small stakes, as bookies do
not lay them.

unless you can actually get on its just paper profit and I believe he only gets on because he is allowed to get on.

the bookmakers want him to get on so he keeps writing the column and getting people to follow him at under the odds which is what they actually lay the selections at in reality.

sprat to catch a mackerel.

if hugh done the same selections but didn't put them up on a website he would never get on at the same prices. guarantee it

if hugh taylor was really shrewd he would actually tip the wrong horses and then back the ones he realy liked close to the off when there was loads of liquidity

Hugh is really shrewd...he also comes across as an honourable and honest character who would feel like he was shafting his employer and the public if he did that, twits

he is too smart not to know that nobody is getting the prices he advertises consistently ie they are losing. he still accepts payment for the column though. right?

Kevin Pullein is just as bad, worse in fact. The selections he gives are impossible to get at the prices he recommends. less than 5.5 first half corners with bet 365 etc. its cobblers. the only person who gets on is KP. Tipsters in the RPost have an arrangement where they are allowed a monkey on the night before. By the time KPs readers see his column on saturday the prices dont exist anymore, hes taken them. if you phone the bookmakers they will tell you the selection was layed to a moonkey. what they dont say is, it was KPs monkey! This is not fiction, its fact. Pullein told me himself

That is correct thompson.

He knows fine well anyone following him will be losing.Doesn't stop him picking up his cheque (wether he wins or loses)

Very honorable guy that. As said before the only 'twits' in this are the punters who follow his selections and under cut prices from the bookies.
By:

thompson half of these so called 'tipsters' don't even bet.

Their income is from their articles or tv appearances.

Its all designed to bring in money from the punters like everything else in the gambling industry.

Hugh seeks value, these days that is a lot harder than say 10 years ago.

In this day and age a horse is normally too big for a reason, hence the likes of Nevison virtually packing it in

its not that difficult to make a profit taking best industry price, half the time i think 365 are putting up silly prices just to get the mugs in (a bit like bog, 4/1+ etc) so many punters who used to lose regularly are now getting closed down, hugh is ok but lets not get carried away

Oh dear..

Hugh Taylors selections are at mythical prices...

Not being someone to bore the forum it is quite obvious that you cannot make a profit following him because the price has already gone.As an avid follower of the market I have usually backed his selections (!) 20 minutes before they have been posted.So..Certain people must have a bit of early knowledge and are backing to lay....(allegedly)

Well guys, as many layers will testify, it's certainly not easy to tip 40 consecutive losers !------------however, I have posted at length before about the hundreds of words of nonsense that this "nice" fella writes in his summaries------it all sounds marvellous to read, but it's now proved to be tripe on 40 consecutive occassions,(not for the first time either)-------and what most galling to me is the total lack of apology or explanation for a 40 runner losing run, and then the burst of triumphalism on the ATR site when he eventually finds a winner.-------------however, I have to now start believing that the law of averages will kick in shortly, and I may well have a little burst of seriously backing his next 10 tips, starting tomorrow, regardless of the price I get------------he couldn't tip 50 consecutive losers, surely, could he,could he  ??  Blush

regarding the "getting on at the bookies"
we are a group of mates about 20 of us that only back between april right up to the arc, we have won the last 5 from 6 years and have never had a problem getting on, until this morning 3 of them (all on line) had their limits reduced to a tenner by the same bookmaker. no problem in the shops though.

Hugh Taylors selections are at mythical prices...

no they are not...if 99% of the population went in to the bookies before Hugh puts up his tips and wanted to back those selections, they would be accomodated at least to small stakes...Hugh's popularity and the vagaries of the bookmaking industry see to it that the prices dont hang around once made public but that is no reflection on his ability as a tipster...

he's on a bad losing run currently but has been there before and those prev losing runs are includede in +1250pts to end of April

By:
Rider
When: 28 Jun 12 17:32
well lets say a horse is 1.01 to win a race, I'll tip 1,000,000 pts on it
to win, it wins and now i'm +10,000 points, so

Hugh  +1250
Rider +10000

valuebetting, the stats have always been on the ATR website...that figure was from when Hugh started on the site sometime in 2009 upto April this year
By:

When: 28 Jun 12 19:04
i'd say over 90% of the bets are 1pt bets, Rider...on average 2-3 a day....no idea fig for ROI.

What a load of bolloc..ks Duncan...

if 99% of the population went in to the bookies before Hugh puts up his tips and wanted to back those selections, they would be accomodated at least to small stakes

Just how would an avid follower of Hugh know the selections before they were posted..

He is Hugh not Dr Hugh (for avid followers of the time traveler)....

Any stats on the ATR website are meaningless because as I have stated on many an occasion...(in true FENMAN STYLE)

THE PRICES HAVE GONE BEFORE THEY ARE POSTED...

I particularly like it when he posts the same selections as that Laddies apologist Segal and still posts the price that has gone 14 hours earlier....
