I tried to back Ulysses for a right few quid on here quite a while ago.
The Sportsbook decided this was my MAX:

For the record, I'd be very surprised if this horse won.

It's quite blowy at the moment but rain definitely tomorrow of about 9mm, then cloudy right into sunday. I think the ground will be near perfect for Minding in the Oaks on friday but not so good for Harzand on saturday unless the heavens open again. It could be fresh weather so wrap up well if one is Epsom bound.

I predict UAR will win the Derby doing handstand and be 'fav' for the 'Arc'.

Imp, the weather is too unpredictable, but at least it has cleared slightly this past hour. I don't care who wins as long as AOB wins, as he yields me the most profit.  who do you think will be the pacemaker?  I reckon Shogun.

would be interested to see who moore chooses and if USAR wears blinkers or not.  He did nothing once he hit the front at Chester.

Aidan's been getting cute with the gear of late but I think we're still a long way away from slapping blinds on the Derby fav, GIG.

Doesn't look good in the 2017 stallion brochure, old chap.

AOB should have supplemented AFB as a pacemaker!

Joking aside I think Beacon Rock will act as a pacemaker along with Biodynamic unless Bravery runs; Shogun and PD will be just behind to ensure a decent pace a maintained for UAR who'll I reckon will most certainly be Moore's mount, with Heffernan on PD and Donnacha and Anna O'Brien on Deauville and Idaho respectively, I think. And there will be no headgear for UAR - he's not a tearaway but just green.

It has been drizzling - the roads are very wet - but it's stopped now; it's still blowy, and just a matter of time before more rain descends again - all in all a miserable day is ensured for all in this area, I'd imagine.

Definitely very wet when I left for work this morning!

Don't forget though lads it's a hill made of chalk and it might not rain again after today.

I'm a few miles away from the Downs now GIG.  Schedule for a bit of rain tomorrow afternoon now too, but then dry with temperatures climbing.  Saturday looks like a nice sunny warm day.  I suspect the ground will be absolutely perfect by then and no need to water either.

Isn't the latest weather of far more significance to the Oaks?  Day less to dry out, race run over a bit further, fav that might not get home....

You mean stamina may come in to play a bit more rather than starting the oaks from Langley Vale :-)

I'm in Epsom and it's still pouring down....

Aiden keeping his options open and leaving things as clear as mud for punters  as all 7 derby entries left in French Derby as has Massat.

Was it you Headmaster who highlighted Braverys run in the Irish 2000 guineas stayed on very strongly and is way overpriced if Epsom is on his radar and not Chantilly.
Loved his Grand Dam sonic lady who was a crack miler in her day.   Also the 1st horse on the front cover of the inaugural edition of the Racing Post

Yes Geoff, I'm VERY green on Bravery.  Not your typical Derby-winning profile obviously but this is an odd year.  His Irish Guineas effort reminded me of Qualify's the year before. I really hope they run him.

With the rain that's come down, and more rain forecast, I've had another speculative (hopefully this one runs, connections were doubtful) on Algometer. Good attitude, will stay, will do wonders for Archepenko as a commercial stallion if it does go in...

Its forecast to be so warm, and mostly dry for the rest of the week, that however much falls today, its still going to be good to firm imo.

Last Tuesday the ground at Epsom was given as SOFT.  Before the rain arrived today it was described as GOOD, G/F PLACES. So in 7 days it moved 2.5 notches.

Current description is "we've eased to good, possibly on the slow side in places but it has taken the rain pretty well."

Further showers are possible on Thursday, but the end of the week is forecast to be dry and warm.

By Friday (3 days) it will probably be given as GOOD. On Saturday, with fresh ground on the inner, don't be surprised if the G/F in places is back in.

Every year people are surprised by how quickly the chalk turf dries out.Official descriptions for both days in the recent past

I'm with the people who say it dries quickly at Epsom.
If you look at any loose ground (e.g. the car park entrances) you will see chalk the size of marbles in the soil.
Soft today Tuesday will be good on Thursday.
The rain just means the clerk of the course and the ground staff can put their feet up and relax.

I've looked at 5 different forecasts for this week in Epsom

Some have no sunshine until Sat/Sun

Posters on here yesterday said will be no significant rain yet pouring most of today and some forecasts say same tomorrow

Port Douglas drifting alarmingly ? Maybe off to French Derby ?

Deauville seems only horse of O'Brien's holding up in price over the last few days.
