Very well done!
It's very unlikely AFB will be running over 8f again; TG will be unlikely to be going for the Derby I think and most likely be earmarked for races from 8f - 10f. The winner, Awtaad, unlikely to go for Epsom either. |

Tell you what - if there was ever a year you'd want to risk aiming a 10f horse at the Derby its this one.

thx mate, just like you said: things to learn from this 2000 guineas: AFB will campaigned at 6-7f, the gurhka will go france, awtaad has his breeders cup mile written on the trophy already. end of

Nobody notice Bravery there? Bred to win a Leger, that was a very fair run. On gd/sft or worse at Epsom I'd be very happy with the 25/1 to frame

What a fascinating Derby it is this year! For my money Awtaad has every chance of improving on better ground - Sire and Damsires best ones on the whole were good ground horses. If I were a connection (lol) I'd be watching the Epsom forecast carefully ...
|
|
By:
being serious, Awtaad is a 5-1 for the St James Palace Stakes that is a very very good bet.

Who'd be a racehorse owner! 5-1 for The St JPS and your Cape Cross colt (Sea The Stars, Golden Horn (he won't stay THEY said) and Oiuja Board) is looking like a world beater in a weak Derby year ...

Was anyone watching the Aidan O'Brien interview at The Curragh on RTE2 TV?
I wasn't paying attention and Aidan was mumbling but I though he said something about The Gurkha and the St James Palace Stakes. I don't want to spook the market. Can anyone clear up what Aidan said? |

Nah, thought about the 50-1 pre -race for the derby and decided against it, as a proper miler the beast wouldn't go near the derby, as it would ruin it like many before. It won;t be 5-1 nearer the race that's for sure. I advise ppl to take the 5s on the st james palace available.

The chances of Awtaad going to the Derby and staying the trip are similar to that of TG, and Minding going to the Derby combined.

Just dutched the Godolphin pair, COS & MM to go with my Idaho bet. Race is obviously wide and I can't see either of them being double figures on the day. But tbh it feels like a guess-up. It is that type of race this year. Let's play Lotto.

Very unusual for a Derby winner to be having his 4th start of the season...therefore, even if he runs, Awtaad will be up against fresher and more primed horses. Waiting for Ascot makes much more sense.

I'll go out on a limb here, WOD won't run. Once Gosden sees it can't handle the track on its test run it will be pulled. As for derby being competitive, is just a question of which AOB horse wins...

What is the obsession with using initials instead of horse names? Do you think it makes you look clever or an insider?
I know most runners and struggle to figure it out. |

By:
it's just a strong opinion. nothing wrong with that.

Nothing wrong with a strong opinion at all. But you have too many that clash with each other.

Your opinion can't be wrong?

it's called being lazy. everyone does it on here. |

so it is a value lay at 3-1. if it runs you can just lay off for no loss. there is nothing wrong with tat tactic,

60% chance of running. Not a fact not a rumor just IMO that's all. You ca'lt really lose anyway as the SP is likely to be around the same come Derby day. As Gosden said , WOD's Derby entry depends everything on its test run next week.

For someone who started a therad titled 'Why on earth do people back antepost these days?' you seem to have rather a lot of antepost bets?

There is a quote somewhere. The derby supplementary will made straight after the test run, that was made v clear. This derby is as open as the 1999 derby so laying WOD at those prices is fine. If it runs I'll just cash out, no harm done.
|
|
By:
Let hope WOD does not end up in the car park on tuesday when the cameras are on!
If WOD is doubtful UAR would be about 1 point shorter without breaking a sweat; Ulysses, a horse with terrific pedigree but only won a maiden at odds of 4/11, is currently at 12/1 and still being backed says a lot about this year's open Derby. |

Worth a listen. Also: "We'll go to the morning at Epsom and I've already got the work instructions from the trainer Frankie Dettori! I'll let you know how he handles the track afterwards. If he gets on the wrong lead and winds up in the fairgrounds we're in trouble!" So if you see him on one of the waltzers, safe to assume he's out of the Derby. Gosden's main concern is his lack of experience rather than his ability to handle the track. |

No it won't and no it wasn't. Only an absolute imbecile would throw 75K into the ring 6 days earlier than they need to. |

By:
reaseheath, gosden doesn't sound v confident. reaffirms my suspicions about the horse.
|
|
By:
Disagree, I think he sounds excited about his horse but respectful of the opposition, I agree and am looking forward to the race more than usual because it's so open.
I don't like WOD's price and won't be backing him but I've yet to hear, see or read anything that suggests he won't act on the track other than your own idle speculation. Beginning to think you're on a wind up? |
