Hi sandown, if the ground was much softer than usual I feel he would run and half in price

A very difficult year it will prove in the group races this year, you could throw a blanket over them, the last minute conditions(ground)of even more importance than is usual(and it is always vital)

Still wishing for something not yet seen, I could be waiting for a long time? I was waiting to see the Luca Cumani trained El Vip take stage , but not even entered in a maiden yet? A pivotal by a more than good enough dam, but late progress-er. I have never been keen on Pivotal but this mix could work(another random guess)

Keep out of the Ante post markets!

I've heard Ryan Moore is riding Deaville - is that the general understanding ?

Who or where from? If so, it is not public knowledge; I'd have thought Moore would most likely be on UAR unless The Gurkha is a definite runner. But the betting does support what you've heard - Deauville has been backed.

I'd be astonished if even Aidan knows this far out, but Tom Segal gives Deauville a fair shout in the Weekender, if that helps.

What a load of codswallop. Not a kin chance is Ryan Moore riding a horse (Deauville) in the Derby that has been beaten in its last three races.

it's not a normal Derby year, especially at AoB. But it's not codswallop as the person I met should know.

I agree that if Midterm runs at Epsom he will be shorter than he is currently trading but not as short as he was. He would have to be priced as a horse with considerable potential who did as well as could be expected in the Dante with a hamstring injury. It's an open year with no one horse dominating so if the horse is over the problem and Stoute judges that he can do himself justice in the race then he has some sort of chance. I'd guess he might be priced at around 8-10/1.

Strange that the Gosden filly gets pulled out of the Oaks fully 2-3 weeks out yet with Midterm it will maybe go to the wire. Obviously the injury is not as bad as that for DMS. It suggests as much hope as there is doubt to me. 50/50 anyway. If he is progressing then he will have to have a full gallop a week before the race so we might know then if he comes through it.

The Gurkha hasn't been declared for the Irish 2000.

TG is doing a slow shuffle.....out, with UAR heading the opposite direction.

I definitely read a piece by Tom Peacock that was retweeted by Graham Cunningham which said a decision has been made and Galileo Gold will definitely be sticking to a Mile this season.  It quoted Palmer and was black and white.  So it was surprising to see the horse come in for a bit of support this week.  Went to check and I cannot find the piece anywhere now, don't know if Hugo thought he was off the record and had a word.

Anyone else see this?

Had £5 matched on the TG at 21s, US amry ranger has certainly been strong in the market, thought they would wait till Sunday before determining what direction TG would go in as a blow out by AFB might mean he sticks to a mile

Ah - looks like it wasn't a proper closure: that's tomorrow at noon.  I think they've taken a few out though.

After the market re-opened I am now looking at a negative balance based on Betfair scratching Sky Kingdom from the market. I had backed and laid off ages ago but it has taken the profit I greened out and left a negative. Anyone had this experience before as I guess the adjustment will last until Derby day. Weigh anchors.

@madhu not sure on this one, so you took a green across the book based on backing and trading a single runner, you should just get an all green book which is released come the derby day. it might have something to do with the maximum field and a possible balloting out

Thanks so much for the reply Fallen Angel. Nice to know there are still reasonable people on here after seeing so much tripe lately. They are getting back to me to explain the reasons so will let you know. Kind regards.

Madhu - they don't settle as such (or release cash) in markets like this because of the risk the event will be cancelled or that the horse will be supplemented.  You'll have to wait until 2 days before I'm afraid.

Fascinating race at Goodwood tomorrow: Ormito against Algometer. A good run from Ormito must surely make USAR strong favourite for Epsom; a good run from Algometer might rekindle interest in Midterm.

Surely if your using Ormito as a form line then Cloth Of Stars the favourite

Geoff m, my post had nothing to do with my views on the form. However, I wouldn't be taking Ormito's run in France literally, as he was keen on soft ground over ten furlongs.

Madhu, when was the last time you spoke to either the trainer, owner or jockey of one of the leading Derby fancies ? Dismissing everything as tripe shows your ignorance.

IMO it is easier to gauge USAR with its direct training partners in Deauville and The Gurkha.  And I said those two ,previous to their last races were the markers. The Vase form was good but a little unreliable as USAR was too green and PD should of won by 4l + on level terms.

If you want to buy your Derby winner you can internet bid here live
Goresbridge sales live link
http://www.irishhorse.com/bloodstock-sales/

The last lot went to an internet bid that the auctioneer said was from Malaysia.
You could overhear a woman in the crown questioning that. Laugh
