Hmm Ormito if given a better ride, should have gone extremely close.  like i said before the Vase form was strong and the dante not so.

I had a fiver on at 16-1 on ormito for that race.  at least probert could of angled the horse not into the back of the other one. v annoyed.

Didn't Algometer get beat by the Dante 4th ? The pace of the Goodwood race would have not suited Algometer either so he did well to finally grind out the win.

You can't take that race seriously in regards form lines unfortunately.

i agree hbore, but the pathetic pace of the race was way better than the Vase

A form boost for UAR and Midterm and post the win of Algometer (2nd to Midterm) over Prize Money and Ormito (4th to UAR).

Wings of Desire will be taken to Epsom for a trial run and then a decision will be made.  IMO the horse is too imbalanced and will lose its natural speed around the undulations.  Gosden will probably dedide to run it anyway, but wouldn't be too confident.

Pretty odd schedule from Team Midterm today.  I assume there was absolutely no way they could have possibly done an X-Ray and got the results before today's midday deadline?  Leaving him in, paying at least 3 grand to do so, then immediately ruling him out...blimey...I wouldn't mind being 50p behind these boys Crazy

Ulysses, a horse that finished behind Algometer who is trading at 89/1 here is being backed again into 17/1 - how absurd is that? On the other hand Port Douglas (PD) who has decent juvenile form and has since improved when upped in distance to 12f from 8f and ran the present Derby joint 'fav' to a head giving 4lbs is on 28/1 - sheer lunacy I say.

Impossible - I would keep Ulysses on side if you are playing in the derby. Has always been very highly regarded.

x20 By the nature of the race .All of the Derby runners are highly regarded. Its whether he really is a 16/1 shot.
Won his maiden race comfortably having had a warm up race but the next 3 home where all unraced.

But as Impossible says absolutely crazy that he is virtually 1/2 the price of Port Douglas .

Backed Shogun at 44,50,65,85 and 95. Hope he runs tolerably well today and lines up at Epsom and a little trading can be effected.

Nothing shocks me when it come to Mr Grimsdale.

This is the man who one Monday morning told us "We see Workforce as a mile horse" (he wasn't going to supplement into the Derby)
By the afternoon, once Reggae Mike had got over choking on that statement (as the "we" clearly didn't include him) the horse was miraculously back in the Derby frame...not to mention the Arc at the end of the season.

How Grimthorpe still runs the show for Abdulla is beyond me.

Anyone got news on Cloth of Stars?  Any further info would be appreciated whether or not this goes to Epsom.  I rate this a slight danger and need to know if it runs or not to cover my book.

Have a look on the Godolphin website, Greed.

Anyway, never mind Port Douglas, how the hell is Ulysses shorter than Moonlight Magic who won one of the usually stronger recognised trials and may well still be unbeaten but for scoping badly following a race on heavy going? Plus he has absolutely the 'right' type of pedigree.

Ulysses would n't be that price if his stable mate was n't out of the race no matter how well regarded he is.

Moonlight Magic my only bet in the race thus far

Thanks Rease and will do.  I can only assume PD is doubtful  for the Derby and there is no other explanation for it.  If you look back on my posts, before the Vase, I had Port Douglas as clear favorite as opposed to 1-3 US Army Ranger. UAR had only really done 4 weeks of serious training and schooling in its whole lifetime, and looks wise PD was way ahead physically at that time.   Balance wise, based on the Vase run USAR and PD are going to handle the Epsom bends very well without losing speed and energy.  I have also warned ppl about WOD as it just doesn't seem suited to the track IMO.    I have 25s on PD , but if entered I can can see it going off around 6-8s.

you could argue Deauville - which the trainer said was not 100% fit pre race, is overpriced too.   i mean it looked like it was going to win by a distance 2 furlongs out yet just ran out of juice and just lost by a nose to the derby favorite.

That's why I think the Dante form this year is sub standard eg Deauville beaten easily in Group 2 company last season, Foundation had had a difficult passage and Midterm injured in the race. I'd be absolutely astounded if Deauville or Ulysses win the Derby.

so if AOB wins the 2000 other than AFB today, will that be another 3-1 fav for the derby?

Ulysses for the Derby has about the same chance as Leicester city FC winning the Champions league next year. possible....

On the contrary I'd imagine, why? Coolmore would want a a very good miler for Royal Ascot and that will be AFB hence TG more likely Epsom or France bound.

why? because AFB has run on worse ground (yielding) group 1 over 7f.  Just a small shower on the curragh and the fact aob is thinking about pulling it shows he isn't confident it will stay 1m. Those are small signs showing AFB will campaigned over shorter and TG over 1m and 1m2f.  Of course wouldn't surprise me if AFB won by 6l or trailed in last today, this is racing.

By:
impossible123
When: 21 May 16 16:31
In this ground the chance of AFB beating GG has reduced significantly in my book, and now could be the right time to lay TG at 7/1 here as I still believe TG is more likely to be campaigned over 8f - 10f rather than 12f.
By:
GREEDISGOOD
When: 21 May 16 16:34
Im totally with you .   this ground is no better than the ground encountered at newmarket .  it seems very very strange for AOB to be concerned , this clearly shows AFB aint a natural miler at the age of 3.
