For me its one horse...

KINGS PALACE
9/1 I do hope he turns up!

He has run 6 times at Cheltenham and won 4 of then, interesting aspect is that in the bigger races at Chelt festival RSA and Albert Bartlett where he really disappointed, so that's a concern.

But my view is to back him early in the season and avoid later, I think he is a better horse fresher.. if he turns up don't think the step back in distance will be an issue... and feel he is not a Gold Cup horse, but a Ryanair horse... think he is better to stay in this league, than to take on the Don Poli and Conygree types.

The other one I like is JOHNS SPIRIT 16/1 - Think his last run was unlucky had stuffing kicked out of him... but will be a different horse next time... Cheltenham suits him reall well, and will be on a lower mark than last year.  Hopefully Richie McClernon on board... and can hopefully make amends from last years very unlucky defeat.

3 milers often do well in this contest, I really like Johns Spirit as at his age he still entitled to still improve.

My shortlist is:

Johns Spirit
Boondooma (has won over 20f over hurdles)
Cocktails At Dawn
Dell Arca
Gitane Du Berlais
Irish Cavalier
Salubrious

Great to see the decent jumpers back, had dabble on Irish Cavalier at 16s.

Really surprised to see Johns Spirit available in the 20's on here. Would expect it to be in single figures come race day. Are there doubts over it running after the knock it took last time?

Way the weather's going looks like it will be soft ground or heavy. Starting to worry it may be called off.

It drains really quickly at Cheltenham. Can't remember a meeting called off for waterlogging in recent years there.

Not that much more rain forecast after today so I would guess good to soft.
By:

When: 07 Nov 15 19:46
It's currently good to soft with not much rain forecast this week as it stands. Talk of it being abandoned is ludicrous.

The more I look at it I keep coming back to John's spirit. Everybody knows how much he likes the gig & to me his rivals/'potential improvers' at the head of the market look high enough in the handicap. Only caveat to that would be monetaire but no idea whether it'll run or not. Best of luck but I'm sticking wi John's!

Agree, he has been placed and won a paddy power, they even let the handbrake off and let him run in graded races where he performed ok. He is rated 1lb above his last PP 2nd. 3rd in a melling, 5th in a ryanair. Usually horses that win this go onto to run in a melling or a ryanair.

I very rarely back a Jonjo runner as he is filth but this looks an ew steal too me.

Does anyone have any knowledge if Little Jon might be aimed for thisConfused Has been well supported for runs in the past and might just have needed a season to mature possibly 4th last time bring him spot on for this and 25/1 off a feather weight if getting in currently number 41 like, don't no the safety limitConfused

not looked at the race properly yet, but I must say Tom Scudamore's comments and demeanour both on the Morning Line and at the end of C4 Racing yesterday did n't fill me with confidence that King's Palace will actually show up.

Perhaps they're just keeping their cards close to their chest as per...

Ok, interesting you say this ... I was in the paddock before the Rising Stars Novices chase at Wincanton yesterday.

I spoke with Luke Harvey before he introduced the 'best turned out' judges. I missed 'Get On' the previous night and recalled Luke had put out a tweet talking about #KingsPalace (look for yourself under the hashtag) so, I asked him what happened on 'Get On' and what he thought ..

He said, precisely as you did, that Tom Scu was short, non-committal and indifferent to his turning up in the Paddy Power.

I said, 'weird ..' what would hey have to hide etc. etc. and ask Luke if those were the vibes he got - Luke didn't know what to make of it but said it wouldn't surprise him if David ran Kings Palace in the Betfair at Haydock instead. That was the 'impression' if any that he got, even then though he told me he couldn't be sure of it ... He said he thinks they'll run Monetaire ...

Interesting. Known for playing their cards close to their chest.

Just not like them to lose and not 'use' a handicap mark though. Either that or they genuinely have a sighter on Cue Card Etc. through the beating of Dynaste and they think Kings Palace is the second coming ... there again why waste a mark in a race they repeatedly target again and again ...

I think there are some 'scars' on their minds at Pond House though. I think they felt a bit embarrassed at the Grands Crus incident. The horse was hyped, backed (for Paddy Power !!) as if defeat was out of the question and went off at 7/4 ... the rest is a real shame but it is history.

Don't forget KP is owned partly by the Johnson Family - their Patriarch had a massive soft spot for this race.

Kings Palace is 'uneasy' for buttons on here I know ... but I wouldn't surprise me if he ran, it would be a bit more of a surprise (but not much) if he didn't ...

Art Mauresque is another im interested in after looking at the market on here. Can still get on at 20/1 before 5 day decs but if anyone wants to back this i would do so before 10am can see this being offered at 16s afterwards

just noticed PP have shortened AM to 12/1 on their website..suggests they know its running...have taken a little of the 20/1..still not sure of its potential but def looks the part..perhaps this has been plan all along by PN..def worth a small bet at this stage

I think AM will struggle to reverse form with Irish Cavalier myself, even if he is 7lb better off.

PN has stated in todays stable tour that he is an intended runner along with Sound Investment, his only 2.

Think John's Spirit currently 16\1 4 places is a sound investment will be primed for this
By:

When: 09 Nov 15 14:15
Wonder if Nichols will put Harry Cobden on one of his  for the 7lb claim. Assistant trainer said after Aintree win Sound Investment may be ridden by claimer. Only gone up 4lb for that win.
Art Mauresque is a novice who isn't very novicey, seems to see his own stride into a fence. Wouldn't worry about being claimer ridden. Either one of them get 7lb taken off they would have a real chance.

have it between kp already on ew 12s and irish cavilier 14s ew also, best 2 horses in the race potential wise for me anyway

think boondooma may be vunerable over the last two 7lbs more and extra half mile think he will go very well thou, prob add him if can get 10/1 sat morning.

Kings Palace, Irish Cavalier & Art Mauresque for me. It's interesting that Present View is still in given his poor run at Ascot.

I have decided to go with SPLASH OF GINGE. Trained locally. Won twice over fences at the track - once on New and once on Old over this distance. Each time he is stepped up to G1 he gets smashed. Not quite G1 level but handles himself well in Handicaps off this weight. Dropped a few pounds recently. Had a pipe opener end of October over 3m hurdles. Fits all the key trends. A little under the radar for this which makes him attractive option for me. Good luck all. The other one I like is GENEROUS RANSOM and case for him has been made by a few on here already.
By:
ACStafford
When: 09 Nov 15 15:38
Wouldn't be at all surprised to see Splash of Ginge run well, but the one that's taken my attention at the moment is LA VATICANE. Has a lovely racing weight and completely unexposed. He appears to be Pipe's third choice for the race (is he an intended runner?), but I like the look of his profile. I reckon Little Jon may prove better than his current mark too.
By:
Can't Catch Me
When: 09 Nov 15 15:46
Yes I've added Little Jon today at 25/1. Well in with Irish Cavalier based on their festival run and I know connections were really gutted that day as they didnt think he produced his best. He could be very well handicapped.

Also like Generous Ransom, but leaving it at 3 selections and just think he wont be quite up to winning this, even if i can see him running into a place.

Kings Palace at 12-1, Irish Cavalier at 16-1 and Little Jon at 25-1 will do for me. Just hope KP turns up....

Good luck everyone

I would also like to add little Jon but he needs 5 to come out, apart from ptit zigg do we know any others that won't be confirmed for the race? It could be significant if twister pulls out any of his 3 above little Jon to get him in

These also looking dodgy - cloud creeper, bennys mist, shanpallas- if this is the case and twisters fancies its chances then surely 1 or 2 of his others will fall by the wayside

Interesting that La Vaticaine is shorter and he's below Little Jon in the pecking order... That horse also has the option on Friday too.
By:
SEATHESTARS....NO1
When: 09 Nov 15 21:38
A couple of firms have La Vatican priced up as 4/1F for the Paddy Power Handicap Chs on Friday! A race Astracad also is priced up for at 12s. So although LV is one spot below Little Jon, Astracad is 1 spot above him so its possible both could go for that insteadConfused

NTD only has 2 others in it other than Little Jon, it is possible both will come out if NTD fancies him but can't see it myselfConfused Double Ross has come down the weights since last term and it could be possible this is his target this time around though he did wait for the betfair at Haydock last season after also being (Am almost sure he was) entered for this. Though i don't think he has come down the weights quite far enough to warrant even speculation (it was a bad race he won over CD beating the monkey that is Cedre Bleu on bad ground that was off 140 current mark 153.

It is possible he be omitted from the race, as far as the market is concerned the other Splash of Ginge does seem a likely starter, his only other entry is the Hennessy but where he is friendless on that market there is quite a few spikes on the graph for this race for him.

So to clear things up a little, If NTD really fancied LJ for this it is possible that he could take a leap of faith and pull both out in the hope that LJ gets in and risk him not having anything for it but imvho if both DR and SoG are fit and well 2 or the 3 will go to post on Saturday.

Head on block time i dont think Boondooma will run. Just a feeling and out to 10s on here already. Thats quite a hike up the weights too from last time and didn't beat a lot.

One of the outsiders i do like would be Darna, but again he might be omited from the race. He has won first time up last season too and was subject of a price wise tip at 40s at the festival when winning then being BD at Aintree. Will KB start his season rolling in this? If he does i think he needs a 2nd look. No idea how well he was going at Aintree when BD with out looking. I will look if on Saturday morning hes in it
