Plenty of 3 milers have won the pp
Imperial commander, exotic dancer...... Like you said he would need to improve. |

When are the entries out for this?
By:
Module @ 16/1.
No idea if he is an intended runner but with a shedload of rain about in the next few weeks to soften it up I'd expect him to be close to favourite on the day. |

Still no idea if Module is an intended runner but the weather forecast is for a nearly non stop rain this week and next so very soft ground is highly likely. He reminds me a lot of Tranquil Sea who sluiced up in really bad ground.
Not much liquidity but I had to take some of the 25/1+ on here just in case. ![]() |

Changing times and Our Father for me....

Anyone with a view of the realistic chances of Simonsig, Dynaste or Flemenstar appearing in this race? Whilst it may seem an odd option to put Simonsig in a handicap, one might take the view that racing off 162, he is well handicapped. He earned his rating winning the Arkle not being right and is probably better than this.
Hendo tried to win it with Long Run after his novice season and failed off 158 though the trip was probably too short and it all happened a bit quick for him. Al Ferof hosed up off 159 though he came from a vintage crop of novice chasers. |

I don't think anybody knows at this stage.

By:
be very surprised if any ran

Festivalfanatic : DYNASTE is only entered if plan A doesn't work according to David Pipe in today's Stable Tour in the RP. Was available to lay in single figures for the past few days but not any longer after those comments. Trainers and owners do change their minds of course but i think it's safe to say in this instance that DYNASTE won't be running here .

Thanks cc
Pipe senior used to love a tilt at this race, or maybe it was the sadly departed David Johnson....it was usually one of his. Simonsig would interest me off 162, even if he was carting top weight. |

Keep your eyes on NDLT

Our Father looks a good fit for the race.
By:
Going off Pipes comments, Salut Flo seems the most likely of his. In regards to Our Father he says he isn't even back in the yard yet, he's still at Timmy Murphys and looking at 3M+ chases like the Hennessey. Don't think he would have the pace for a Paddy Power personally and 147 seems a bit steep. 3 miles and a small field I think this horse needs, something like the 3 miles chase at Newcastle on fighting fifth day if he were mine
By:
Thanks sc1883 looks like iv dun my dough....Looks like the badger ale for Our Father a race pipe targets could go well in the Hennessy but always seems to bounce after his 1st run of the season so maybe the Hennessy will be his 1st run...
By:
our father definitely looks like one of those that has one run in him per season and I can see the reasoning about him being a hennessy horse but that race he won at Cheltenham for me fell apart it was run at a crawl he didn't fence that well and sire collonges was giving him 8lb he has since been well beaten off a mark of 147 our fathers mark at present for me the hennessy will get him out of his comfort zone will make too many mistakes and I cannot see him winning a hennessy

Module for me too but I'm 0/20 in this race so take that tip how you will

Colour Squadron is one of interest off 140, was given (lets just say) funny rides last season!
By:
Had to have nibble on Champion Court @ 26s, good record at course etc, should run well if making gig.
By:
Could it be a slightly sub-standard renewal this year? Not excited by anything really.
By:
Agree joci, hopefully im wrong but their is no exotic dancer/imperial commander/al ferof lurking in the waiting.
Going to give the Irish entries extra interest when they come out. |
By:
nobody knows what may, be lurking I was at Carlisle on the Monday of paddy power week when exotic dancer trailled in last of 3 beaten 28length behind turpin green he won the power like he had been just thrown into the race off the last bend, I had bet vodka bleu and couldn't believe it as for imperial commander I bet him but not a lot of what either horse had done before winning the power could tell you how good both would become

Funny that, i backed ED to win the KG & GC before he won the PP

Is the Venetia Williams horse KATENKA a definite runner if so very big price
By:
Agree that this will be a sub-standard renewal. I've backed Champion Court some time ago, but suspect he will need good ground to have a serious chance,
I've also been topping up on John's Spirit for a few days now. Won over C&D as he liked last time out, raised a reasonable 10lb for that to 139, handy form last season (behind Katenko for one) and would have finished much closer to Rajdhani Express at the Festival if he hadn't been blocked a couple of times. Form of that race has worked our pretty decently and he's proven over all sorts of ground. The trends would say I'm mad given that its been 12 years (Shooting Light?) since a horse won both showcase and the PP, but he's young, improving and I still believe on a very handy mark, so I'll take that trend on. |
By:
Yep, his profile fits.
I always follow that 2m4f chase that john spirit won with much interest. I think Poquelin won it then was placed in the pp after. |
By:
jerseyboy
Katenko, is a good horse, but needs mud, & probably more mud. I doubt he is well treated by the handicap man at the moment. The stable has a habit of winning races with the like of Katenko when least expected! |
By:
Johns Spirit for me too. Looked an improver last year, didn't work out. Because of that still looks well h'capped .
By:
Makes me laugh when people are saying it looks a poor renewal, the entries aren't even out yet ffs lol!
By:
I think Ballynagour and Colour Squadron could be well treated. Looking forward to the entries.
By:
always a better race when the 'names' enter though.
