have backed masterstroke ante post and happy enough with that but what with the heavy ground ,no harm in having another string to your bow ,the one who is interesting me is bayrir whos trainer says he needs cut and deliberatly wasnt 100/% fit last time behind sainois and might have another 5-6 lengths improvement in him . around 20s he may offer value am getting on .

where do you get the live pmu shows?
By:
After 2 races with the fresh strip in use, the going alowances I'm using indicate that the ground is riding soft and not heavy. About the same as Workfoce's Arc.Doesn't change my earlier conclusions, but maybe more hope for Orvefre being able to go on it.

Orfevre won the Japanese derby in similar conditions to Longchamp! Who dares wins.

bayrir made his racecourse debut in may and quickly made up into a usefull colt winning a french group2 and then a group 1 in arlington ,2nd to saionoos in slowly run prix niel where he raced on the outside and the winner nipped up the inside and supplemented by connections and as a lightly raced improving 3 yo a big run wouldnt suprise and a nice price .

anyone got a link to latest PMU prices? If that 25/1 about Sea Moon is true it's cracking value. Not a good draw, but the ground is right up his street and I think he has a big G1 in him at some point.

Where can you get a bet on the PMU, shame you can't back SNA on the PMU as an individual, have to take the group price.

Any witnesses, did SOUMILLON think he had it won and went easy on ORFEVRE?
By:
Well done to the winners. Thanks for all the fun on this thread. Enjoyed it.

By:
wtf, sick as a parrot! ffs, picking the 2nd and 3rd, cant **** believe it!
By:
Absolutely gut wrenching. Gutted and some !!!!!
By:
Can't believe that, he had it won and Soumy managed to hit the rail near the finish as well! Gutted is the only word for it!!!

No Bazz he strectched to a 3 length lead but collared on the line because his horse was tiring, basically think he went a little too early given how testing it was. Oh well.
By:
Soz for the double post, I'm shell shocked with that finish!
By:
oh ffs, aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! i thought id won,
![]() ![]() ![]() |
By:
in hindsight could have held on to the 2nd a bit longer and probably did think he had it won (didnt we all) just emptied ,and cest la vie ! !
By:
What a shame for Nathaniel and especially Danedream. That was her chance to match Ribot´s two Arcs and the KG, ruined by some sick donkey in Cologne.
By:
Maybe the wide draw contributed to it aswell. No doubt in my mind Orfevre is the best horse in the race though.
By:
As I posted earlier on this thread, SOUMILLON does have an arrogant side to his nature, so we have that to contend with on top of other competitors.
The number of times I've been done by poor judgement from gallic jockeys, BARZALONA needs to be sorted, yet I don't see any body teaching him GOOD habits and throwing out BAD habits. |
By:
Orfevre looked desperately unlucky ,appeared to mess about in front.Run the race 10 times and he'd probably win it 8/9 times.
By:
Clearly the best horse in the race - gutted like most
![]() The horse hung in the last furlong if he'd kept straight would have won. If Soumillon had waited a bit longer he'd have won but that's easy to say after the event tbh. Obviously the ground was far from ideal but clearly emptied in that last furlong. I agree with sint that the draw certainly didn't help, he simply covered too much ground |
By:
Sint, I think your spot on. Ofevre got in to a bad position from his bad draw, had a lot to do and was asked to do it a little too early. Arguably unlucky, but it should be pointed out that Peslier gave his horse a brilliant ride and had her in the right position all the time to win the race.
By:
Soumy got there too soon and IMO he idled in front, he is a bit quirky but clearly the best horse in the race. The draw and ground conspired against him and he still managed to pull out an awesome performance. He did drift quite badly onto the rail even with Soumy trying to stop him going right!
Still can't believe it! ![]() Well done to the ones that backed the winner. |
By:
The best horse lost but I don't believe that the draw was a factor. He dropped him in and he came there tanking. Never seen a horse go from go to slow so quickly. He handled the ground OK but on good ground he would have won a minute. If you want a reason for the loss it was him hanging so badly which cost him more than he was beaten by.Thank goodness for those backers taking 1.02!
By:
Very unlucky for all who were on Ofevre at gd prices
![]() He was the best horse in the race. I`am just glad to see the false fav Camelot get beat, having layed him at 5s & 7/2 ![]() |
By:
Sandown - I only laid Orfevre at 1.03
![]() ![]() Too stressed to remember laying the field at 1.01 ![]() Ironically, the short lays on Solemia weren't taken! |
By:
Although not a definite, the most usual reason for horses hanging is tiredness.
Personally don't think Soumy did too much wrong from that draw - most before said draw wouldn't matter and that Soumy could keep him wide and point in final furlong - that's exactly what he did |
By:
im tilting here, just had a few hundred on Vadamar in the Prix Du Cadran.
spencer riding for M Delzanglas im still in shock with orfevre, i mean wtf, solemia! how the **** has that won the arc? it makes it worse knowing that the ground and draw has effectivlky lost me a bundle on orfevre. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
By:
The draw helped in a way to stop Soumy going down the rail, it was the perfect ride up until the last furlong! It was a fair old shift to the right when he hit the front and he kept going right. Maybe those powder puff Japanese jocks ain't that bad after all!
![]() The Japanese must wonder if they are ever going to win this great race! I really feel for them, so close again. |
By:
Those with soft ground form include Masterstroke,Orfevre, Solemia.
Good call Sandown. |
