Brookie coming on for a run is pretty much common practice, as not many have 3mile gallops at home..

Thanks for all the messages of goodwill.
Pleased to have it out of the way - the ground was the worst possible for him as it was heavy and gluey particularly on the far side. (The official going of good to soft / soft in places was clearly a joke when you saw the earlier races. He likes good, and doesn't mind heavy but hates anything gluey as he is all about getting into a rhythm. Also had an anxious hour after the race as he struck into himself in the area of a tendon, but the cut was flushed out and all seems in tact. But happy with the performance, jumped well, galloped and Paddy didn't have to ask him for too much, had a good blow afterwards and as long as the cut doesn't keep him in his stable too long should make the King George. My impression at the time and on review is that the horses behind stopped to nothing, and that Tidal Bay with the benefit of Wetherby and a great ride from Brian Hughes stayed on past them. This wasn't an ideal start for a lot of the participants, you can never get them entirely match fit on a 5f gallop so it is the first race that tightens them up. That ground was very draining and I wouldn't be backing any of those that stopped next time up unless given a decent break. |

By:
Kirkland put everyone away with another ground description again and i ask, when is anyone likely to challenge the current state of affairs???
This will enter the formbook as such |
By:
Bobby good to see the horse in good form, regarding the ground, im sure that it didnt suit any of the runners and i agree your chap was flattening out after the last rather than Tidal Bay storming home. I have always thought that horses need a couple of months off after running on bad ground at Haydock.
Regarding the King George for Imperial Commander, he cant win the race, simple as that and never will. You would have more chance in the Welsh National. |

WD Bobby on w/end. Hope he makes a speedy recovery. Give him a big pat from all of us.

Congratulations Ian and a belated big thank you for the visit to NTDs stable to see your fella.
Best of luck with the rest of the season- still think you should come to Leopardstown! |

well done bobby
my impression is that IC was at or near his best, which bodes well for the rest of the season. i beleive if he can run to that level he will win the KG. |

Hi Canny Danny - we think around 85%, but as Paddy said he was pulling him up, make no mistake he sustained a very nasty cut which was causing him some grief - in my view he is odds on not to make the KG
By:
Not to make the KG?? Really?
By:
hope he's a quick healer bd. fingers crossed
(good to meet you carvills) |

Hi Reyes - It was good to meet up, anytime you are down let me know if you want a repeat visit.
CV - This is a bad cut, he was pulling himself up as it was clearly hurting. It is an inch long and very deep, it has exposed an area of the tendon sheath (with no damage - thank god) - but there is the risk of bruising and we will not be able to scan the area until the cut has healed, and that will be 2 weeks. In my opinion he is firmly odds on to miss the King George and head straight to the GC. |
By:
Thanks for the update Bobby. I hope he heals well and turns up to defend his crown in march. Best to play it safe as always.
By:
Lets hope he makes it!
ntd has some stong opinions on his previous KGs in todays Guardian. |

Sorry to hear about the cut Bobby. Won't harm his chances in the Gold Cup though and he will hopefully drift a bit in the market as others put form in the book. Don't know if you saw the TV recording but Paddy was very honest, perhaps too much so, in saying he had eased down too early. Sounds like it was a blessing that he did.
I'm glad he has the ride on Weird Al on Saturday. Hopefully it will provide compensation after seeing Little Josh's backside disappear over the horizon at Cheltenham. I'm sure the horse has the guts to pull it off providing he's recovered from a tough race when he caught Little Josh on the line last time out. |

The market on the KG is rather strange imho. IC has drifted, as you'd expect on the back of this news, but Kauto Star's price hasn't moved at all. I really hope IC makes Kempton, I don't think he has a problem going right handed and think it would be a great race. I could see the big 2 turning for home 15l clear and pulling further away all the way up the straight. The rest of the field has a similar look to last year, either not good enough, don't jump well enough, or don't stay well enough. Some of them manage all three.
But if IC doesn't make it, as seems likely, 11/8 Kauto looks like quite a Christmas present. |

Any further update Bobby Dazzler before i back Sizing Europe for the KG?

By:
Why would sizing turn round the form with Kauto DD? Had a fitness advantage last time and was well beaten.
By:
4/1 a place is better than 11/8 winner imo.... know way in the world was that SE best performance..
By:
BarryM , even though SE isn't a definite 3m-graded-race-stayer he is still improving , will be helped by flatter track and very consistent over fences. Would love to see KS win but at the prices SE at 16's looks the EW bet for me.

DDuck - the wound has improved rapidly so he went for a hack on the roads today. Seems very freh, fit and well. There is still a hole in the wound and that will have to fill before he will be allowed back on the gallops to canter - realistically that needs to happen by Monday if he is to make the race. If he is back in work by Monday we probably have enough time to get him into the condition we intended at this point in the season (may go for a race course gallop). Wound has made remarkable progress but still probably 50/50 as to whether he runs

anyone got a link for nigel's article.....

By:
pls dont rush him back bobby! i want him to be in the form to shut some people up :)
By:
We most certainly have not seen the best off Imperial commander
you have to take your hat off to his owner ,persevering with old fashioned n/hunt types rather that purchase the ex flat /french bred horses , i wish their was more owners like him ,we need more waywordlads, siver bucks, e.t.c and it will be a sad day for racing when see owners like him stop buys the true slow maturing types ,but you know what they say bobby all good things come to those who wait [;)] No point in rushing booby like that old chaser bob will be back wish you all the best m8 have you plans to have Anymore [proper n/hunt types ? |
By:
You can take it as read that he will not be rushed, unless the cut is passed fit for action by his vet then he won't be going anywhere
By:
BD.Was Sparky happy with him?
By:
grocerjack - yes, he tells me he feels good and fresh, but is limited to walking on the roads until the hole in the wound heals. Looked better again today, but time is running out
By:
Thanks BD . Good luck with the recovery .

Hi Bobby, you have proberbly been asked this before but-
have you any thoughts about having a crack at the National with IC. he has all the atributes needed for the test, he could join a very exclusive club if he could pull it off. |
By:
Grand National
![]() |
By:
let him win 3 Gold cups Canny B4 even thinking about the national, and then say he will never run in it....
![]() |
By:
Canny Danny - off a mark of 185 it would be an exclusive club of one. To be honest he has that many niggles and quirks I wake up every morning and pray he is sound. One race at a time, but the GN has not even entered our horizons.

old in its work! What he said was that their was at least a dozen horses over in N/Z Better than play school [:o] He said i cannot believe more owners have not purchased over their ,he wrecked £50 grand could purchase a top class beast ,he said they are as tough as old boots, its a wonder more owners have not thought about it .[;)] hope I/c makes the lexus if not all paths lead to gold. wish you all the luck bobby, big mart [;)] p.s D.barns is convinced play school was given something before the gold cup that ruined his nervous system ,It is amazing what lengths these bast---ds will go to to make sure gold cup fav want win ,lets hope he gets their safe and well, These people should be castrated i.m.o Wish you and I/c all the best ,and thank you for your honesty regarding your star,Integrity is rare among owners Consider yourself a gold cup candidate ![]() |
