With just 19 days to go...

Brendon Todd and Kevin Na earned spots in the Open Championship last Sunday based on their standing in the FedEx Cup.
Todd is 10th in the standings, while Na is 11th.

Open Championship exemptions were awarded to the top five players in the FedEx Cup standings after the Travelers Championship who were not yet exempt to Royal Liverpool, provided they were in the top 20 of the FedEx Cup standings.
Todd and Na were the only two players in the FedEx Cup's top 20 who were not yet exempt into the Open Championship.

Competitors at the Quicken Loans National, The Greenbrier Classic and John Deere Classic will be competing for more than just a trophy and FedEx Cup points.
They’ll be vying for nine available spots in The Open.

At the Quicken Loans National and The Greenbrier, the top four players not already exempt for The Open who finish among the top 12 and ties will gain entry.

The top finisher at the John Deere Classic who is not yet exempt for The Open will earn a spot, as long as he also finishes in the top five at the Deere.

Players have ALREADY QUALIFIED from completed events around the world.

Emirates Australian Open three places to the leading three players (not otherwise exempt) who finish in the top 10 and ties Rhein Gibson, Bryden Macpherson & John Senden.

The Joburg Open three places to the leading three players (not otherwise exempt) who finish in the top 10 and ties George Coetzee, Jin Jeong & Justin Walters.

The Open Qualifying Series-Thailand our places to the leading four players Hiroshi Iwata, Cheng-Tsung Pan, Yoshinobu Tsukada & Ashun Wu.

The Mizuno Open four places to the leading four players (not otherwise exempt) who finish in the top 12 and ties Dong-Kyu Jang, Hyung-Tae Kim, Tomohiro Kondo & Juvic Pagunsan.

The Irish Open three places to the leading three players (not otherwise exempt) who finish in the top 10 and ties Matthew Baldwin, Edoardo Molinari & Danny Willett.

IN EUROPE the next two weeks also offer further exemptions.

Alstom Open de France with three places to the leading three players (not otherwise exempt) who finish in the top 10 and ties

Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open three places to the leading three players (not otherwise exempt) who finish in the top 10 and ties

Scotland's Bradley Neil defeated Zander Lombard of South Africa 2 and 1 in the final match of the 119th Amateur Championship in Northern Ireland.

This was a great match before Lombard's wheels came off.

They were all square through 27 holes of the 36-hole finale before Lombard connected bogeys to go 2 down with seven to play.
They traded pars on the 30th hole, and then Neil outlasted his counterpart with a bogey-5 (to Lombard's double-bogey 6) at No. 31.
Another Lombard bogey at the 32nd hole pushed him to 4 down.
He recovered with birdies at 33 and 34, but needed to run the table to force sudden death.
Alas, matching 5s on the penultimate hole secured victory for Neil.

Royal Portrush and Portstewart Golf Club co-hosted the 36-hole stroke-play qualification, but the former took over for the match play format.

With the victory, Neil, who began the week slotted 38th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking
and placed T35 in stroke play at 3-over-par 72-72=144,
earns an exemption into next month's Open Championship.

See he's teeing off the 1st in a practice round (with goose bumps) at Hoylake today.

any locals got some course info? Penal rough? Hoping for a sterner test than last time. What has the weather been like? From memory 06 had no rain beforehand and killed all the rough and made the course lightning quick, hence Tiger used all irons.

172 on our market now .  Will they all play ?  Caveat obviously on Tiger who represents just over 5% of the percentage at 19 .  Assuming they all do , punters should have no problem getting laid , market at 102% at present .

Tom Lehman OUT.......will not compete in The Open Championship. AP.

The 1996 champion at Royal Lytham & St. Annes is opting for a family vacation before taking his older son to college.
Lehman's only other top 10 in 18 total starts in the major was a T4 in 2000.
If the age exemption doesn't change, the 55-year-old will be automatically eligible to tee it up in this major through 2019.
