I am surprised we didn't see a lower score. The course is great, very interesting, trouble everywhere, but very playable. It did not look that hard, you would have thought somebody would have hit those fairways.
I thought Webb-Simpson looks in great form and a huge danger, could/should have been a couple better. Mickelson had some miracle escapes and possibly one of the greatest bunker shots I have ever seen. Tiger was awful and looks injured. Rory still in it and a little unlucky finding divot marks on two consecutive holes. Donald is the interesting one, if he is ever going to win then this course must represent his best chance. Webb-Simpson and Donald from here. |

Not even completed the first round yet, long way to go... Donald has had a good start but is prone... as is Simpson, lay lay lay.

This is wide open & there are some juicy odds for players not that far off the leaders, picking which ones though is the snag!

I should also say but it obvious Scott is a huge danger, he did have some luck though, 2 hooked drives could have been anywhere. Outsiders thought Tim Clark could have been a couple of shots better.
Can't see WW , his game is along way off where it has been, he is the best lay for me. |

Deplaster, Grace for me level par 250s and gone though the hardest holes, seems a juicy price, or so I hope.

Westy was extremely unlucky to get a DB. Up to that point he was playing well. Fate never seem to be on his side.

Ski, his putting was poor again, had a chip in to save him 2 shots and that miss into the grandstand was the worst shot of the day.

His putting is always poor.....if you took out the DB then -3 based on his performance was a very good score.

Any word on Tigers injury ? Looked like a mild "arm " strain playing out of tough rough , but he was flexing his neck and shoulders as he walked , something bothering him slightly . Not looking like someone in the zone so far , would hate to have taken short odds about him .
