Brian Harman @ 400/410s - sticking with him from last week.
Matt Jones @ 230s - lost his card last year but was T5 at the Puerta Rican Open on a sponsors invite last month and last week T32 after opening with a 77,the last two years he's finished top ten so the lay out suits his game and for me is value. good luck all. |

well i must confess to having backed Dufner. In my defence i did get 33s with ladbrokes yesterday. The guy is too good not to win soon & obviously this course is perfect for him. I would have drawn the line at 28s or lower though!
In addition am on; Chalmers 80s Another with great course form & solid form this yr. Stroud 100s - Was on him last week on a course he hadn't played well on in the past & he put in good performance. Here he has played well before and also played well at Sawgrass [another Pete Dye design last yr] Duke - 175s - Nearly won this a few yrs back when pipped by Watney. Solid this yr & great e/w value. Every - 66s - Solid as anyone of late & although he has not played here before his ball strking should suit the course and conditions. On all e/w. Good luck everyone! |

I appreciate your point Maggot. Can't argue with those stats, but for me Luke is not in the same form as last year despite his recent win. Same can be said of Simpson and Stricker has been battling a neck injury as I understand it.
Bradley and Dufner playing better this year than last and more consistant. Keegan will win again soon but Dufner no value at the price IMO, although I would love him to win. Just don't like the odds for what some of the above have achieved this year thats all. It's all about opinions and we are entitled to have diffent views. |
|
By:
Dufner's much better value for 1st round leader - 40/1 ladbrokes
Also on outright: Howell III 40/1 Overton 70/1 Duke 175/1 McNeill 100/1 |
|
By:
Yes Doug, I agree that their odds are not necessarily appealing, but that is not quite the same as saying that they are out of sorts.
You are right. It's all about opinions, and good luck with your bets. |

Webb Simpson is the one guys. 2nd last year and is on the way up. Value at 26. Playing very consistent golf which should be gud enough in a medicore field.

Petterson had his arm cut off?...in form and now 42s,bit surprised at his drift..

Weekley out for Daly it seems. Not a big loss - the Boo train has been running on empty lately.

And Joey McLister in for Neal Lancaster in a real bombshell.
Ok, I may have overstated that ![]() |

Flushed with success laying at odds on in running, had a bit of a pop at eric's team. Should be a lot of fun if nothing else.
Anyone any views on Palmer's picks (Simpson, Dufner, Howell, Tringale and Fowler) Couldn't have Fowler myself, but the others look reasonable. Good luck. |

I find that Donald tends to do the business when you least expect him to.
|
|
By:
Well if Eric has added some longshots I've just had a few quid on here on 3 hugestlongestevershots.
John Peterson - LSU Amateur who won on N/W last yr. Billy Horschel - Monday qualifier, decent wind player& played well here last year. And... David Duval - most weeks I could give him half a game [probably a slight exaggeration!] but every now & again he produces something out of the blue. Hoping that the performance of another fallen past Open champ last week might inspire him. All 1000s, Wish me luck! |
|
By:
Yeah good luck indeed.

Had a few small EW's...
Agree with Duke 175 Curtis @ 80 Crane also @66 Half an eye on Hansen.. BTW..The jetlag thing is worse if you travel West to East. Entirely plausible that he did the whole thing the other way given China is on the other side of the world to the states. |

Q I have added Daly @ 510s seems a huge price for somebody who has shown some form lately
also watney team of 17 now ![]() |

By:
Any weather updates?
Any advantages for morning / afternoon starters? Cheers. |
|
By:
that should have said 520s but who is bothered
watney @ 40s |
|
By:
Crows Eye, agree their fairly speculative as the price would indicate & obviously looking for a decent trade rather than expecting a win!
I would say though that there will be far worse 1000 shots than Peterson this year. The guy is quality and has a massive future. He will have big support on his turf and as the likes of Cantlay & Spieth have shown over the past year or so it is not impossible for a quality amateur to hover around the leaderboard for a couple of days. |
|
By:
Can't say I've ever seen a 1000 shot come in on the golf but it's going to happen eventually!

Really fancy Ogilvy this week, with a little on G Mac also

There are some very strange prices about this week where some are very short due to good course form whilst others who also have shown a liking for TPC Louisiana are big prices. Jason Dufner seems remarkably short for someone who has yet to win and has often shown a real problem over the weekend getting the job done. I will admit my first pick Charles Howell III has often been guilty of not crossing the winning line more often than he should but at least he has done it twice. He is on record as saying he loves this event and has always supported it as he was given a sponsors exemption when he first came on tour. He was 7th, 5th and 2nd at the old venue English Turn and has also shown a liking for the new venue - 2nd in 09 and 4th heading into the final round last year.mainly due to some really good putting (something he usually has a problem with). He comes into this week in really solid form this year and at an event he really wants to win and has shown he can play then despite reservations he has to be backed - 0.4 ew 50/1
I really don't get the price of George McNeill this week - we were on him at 55/1 when he won a weaker event in Puerto Rico - an event in which he was 5th last year so why on earth is he 125/1 in an event he was 6th last year? He was also 2nd twice last year and that just about sums it up - I just don't understand the price!! 0.5 ew 125/1 John Rollins has three PGA titles to his name but he has always struggled to cross the winning line here in Louisiana - in 02 he was 2nd heading into Sunday and finished 16th (different course) and in 09 and 11 here he was 3rd entering the final round - indeed he could be a good player to back and lay. He has been in pretty good form this season and his stats have been very good for a while - maybe he can take a leaf out of Ben Curtis' book and cross the winning line for the first time in a while.0.25 ew 100/1 |
|
By:
@ CrowsEye - Lowry won when he was 1000-1.
I saw Calcavecchia win once after trading at 1000-1 after one day. It doesn't happen often, but once in a while is enough to pay the bills ![]() |
|
By:
@ TMM - McNeill, like Wagner and Mark Wilson, is under-rated by the punters. He has a couple of wins up his sleeve, but still there's no love.
|
|
By:
I will listen to the masses and back McNeill, to go with Gmac and Toms,Good Luck.
|
|
By:
You would be surprised at how often a player hits 1000 and wins or goes close.
Huh last week is a perfect example. He didnt win but traded sub 3. Estes was certainly a big price and went low on sunday. Other winners off the top of my head are Rory at Quail Hollow, Petterson in Canada. I remember backing stallings at 500 during the final round when he won. Sneedeker this year would be another. |
|
By:
I did particularly mean pre-off 1000/1 shots.
I know well the folly of IR pricing. |
|
By:
Bateman must have been perilously close when he won.
Lowry is the only one I can definitely say I've seen win at 1000-1 before the off. |
|
By:
Oh, Harry Fraz is out this week. In comes Steve Flesch as his replacement.
|
|
By:
Jeppe Huldahl in europe a few years ago was another
|
|
By:
Not the price i was hoping for but Bubba is my most likely winner. Cant see him being phased with his Masters win, he will just play his usual game which seems to work well round this course. I expect no less than top 5.
|
|
By:
I've got a feeling Mikko Ilonen won or came very close to winning after being 1000 early on day 1 about 3 years ago.
|
|
By:
David Toms
Chris Kirk Yul-Song Noh |
|
By:
Good luck with Bubba Shaky. It seems to take a while for newly-crowned major champions to get back on track (thinking G-Mac, Oosty and Charl), but Bubba might buck the trend on a course he likes.
