Shocking If Betfair saying they will definitely get rid of old site. Literally business suicide. The new site is unusable for so many. Will just simply bet less...how is that growth Betfair?? I tell you what you need to do....fire the guy running your IT Development Team, truly absurd new site. You want people to use your new products, but doing this way with a Las Vegas Casino stye page, may lose you it all.

I have just had it confirmed to me by email from the BF help desk, that the old site will be definitely deactivated by year end.
No ifs, no buts.

It's a pity the old site will be closed down before year end.  I was hoping they'd wait until the end of the football season when things quieten down.

You all will probably have noticed, but I have started a new thread solely for discussing specific issues with/improvements required for the new site.

I've been told senior people will be following that thread so please use it.  Preferably for specificities and not general moans and groans.  They are listening and hopefully they'll act on our thoughts.

They haven't listened for the past 3 months.
They clearly don't understand the significance of the endless previous points raised

I wonder if they monitor the "revert to old" clicks?

I'm slightly optomistic in thinkning that perhaps if they do close down the old site, the new one will speed up and perhaps the IT people will have listend to feedback/grips and ironed out all the annoying aspects.  Betfair are really fortunate they don't have any serious competition, Betd4c should be milking the current situation and offer the fastest user friednlt exchange.

Really worrying if they are going to get rid of the old site before fixing the new one. I have no confidence In the accuracy of my in running bets on the new site and so many other random things turning up such as pages that I last viewed 5 minutes previously pop up without warning in the middle of a race Hopeless.

This is going to sound like a major whinge, but its really getting annoying now.

When is this company going to do what any good company does and LISTEN to its CUSTOMERS. If you are having complaints and problems with your business, you don't guess what the answer is. There is a simple source of finding out - the CUSTOMERS will tell you what the problem is.

The new site, for me, is impossible to use, because I require a dark coloured screen, and the text used on the new site is black which even with browser overrides cannot be changed, which means that I cannot use it - so if they scrap the old site, I will no longer physically be able to use Betfair after ten years as a CUSTOMER.

The old site was functioning perfectly well before they introduced this Beta - which lets be fair was introduced to keep up with other companies and the times and was nothing to do with site functionality. Probably some newbie came into Betfair and thought they'd try and implement a new contemporary web design, and have now effectively messed everything up. They thought they'd try a new system to make it easier from their end, never mind how difficult it is for the people that pay their wages. Who are they?

The CUSTOMERS.

Basic business sense.

I'm smelling a hidden agenda here.
There's been far too many fundamental issues raised with nothing done about it, that it's becoming a bit suspicious.
The new site is so obviously flawed that you couldn't possibly consider ditching the oid site, yet they are.

My guess is they're trying to stop the traders. Make it so people are putting one bet on and using the 'cash out' if necessary. Leaving the way clear for their superbots, skimmers and crack traders (who no doubt will have access to a smooth as silk site with no delays).
Probably wrong, but there's got to be some big plan. Unless of course it's just simple incompetence.

I was beginning to think the same as Curlywurly, there must be some ulterior motive.

Can't imagine Betfairs 'Sharp Minds' customers would use a website that is so slow and difficult to use with a constant "play roulette or slot machines" pop up permanently flashing away.

I'm a 4-6% customer so effectivly not really that important in the scheme of things, but like Srishaplan I've been a user for 10+ plus and using the site almost every day.  I've never been so peeved with Betfair, I even opened a Betdak account in desperation last month.  When the site first started hanging and playing up I thought it was me, I deleted and sped up my laptop (Its a 6GB model), then had my router replaced, the customer service lady told me there were "no problems" as nobody else had complained.

Why can't they communicate better and keep us updated with what is happening

there is no active communication from betfair about the new site. they didnt give us any reason why they felt the need to substitute the old site with this new stuff. what is better on the new site?

There was a bloke on the radio, Five Live, the other week. He was from a company that had won a top customer service award. They asked him how his company had managed to win having had many bad news stories previously. I think the question was something like 'so how did you find out exactly what you were doing wrong'. His answer was 'we didn't have to find out. If there are problems, the customers will tell you what the problems are. You just have to listen'.

Now, I know Betfair ask the customers, but do they listen and act on what they hear? Or do the people who are told to ask the questions listen, but when they report the answers, they are ignored?

The old site has been much better today, but that's nothing unusual as it has good days and bad days.

Communication has been dire.  There a plethora of issues raised and they're either met by silence, a thank you for informing them, or the helpdesk telling us it's a problem at our end.

From the messages I've had with them, they do seem genuine in their desire to listen to us and improve the site(s).  But, as we all know, we're not seeing enough improvements implemented.  In fact, we don't even know if any of the fixes we're asking for will ever be made.

To be frank, if the new site is not fit for purpose by the time they close the old site then it's up to us to contact major shareholders with our concerns.

If the old site goes, so will I.  I have tried and tried the new site but I just cannot get used to it and actually HATE it.  I would rather take my chances with BD or just use Pinnacle where I can.

It's a daily irritation most of the time but when it fecks you over whilst trading an event like it did tonight and cost me fifty quid it's becoming a liability I won't be able to continue to use.  (I had lay to back on a greyhound race)

What the fk are they playing at?????  They had the best betting interface ever created and they've gone and screwed it up, they are in denial about the functionality.

You just have to look at how fast the markets load on the 'multiples' site to see how fast Betfair used to be before they overloaded the system with other things.

They don't want to keep the loyal customer by the looks of it....good luck to them if they going with that strategy. I will not lose any sleep without Betfair, will just use another site, that's the attitude these guys have pushed me to. No respect for their customers at all..... everyone telling them site is wrong, yet they are adamant they will get rid of old one before new one is ready. Lovely attitude Betfair, keep it up.

theyre aiming for a younger market and you can't blame them .

i much prefer the old style ,as does everyone else over 25,30,35,40 etc  ,but you really need to ask what teenagers like - that's their future !
