I've posted this  in another thread but the thread title is too vague:

This has been happening to me a lot over the last couple of weeks and today is unbearable.

Moving from one market to another often comes up with the message:

Loading.... Please wait while the marker loads

Sometimes the market loads in 10 seconds or so but I usually just close down the tab and open Betfair in a new one.  Which  usually works, but sometimes I need to do this a few times.

I'm using Google Chrome and don't have many windows open.  My PC and internet connection are fine.

I would contact Betfair but they'd just tell me to delete cookies...

yes same problem here using firefox, very annoying.

beta has banners that take up unnecessary space, meaning I have to scroll for things like Correct Score markets, which I don't have to do on the old site.
On the old site, I can remove the banners, but on Beta, the market data is contained in the banner so if you remove it, you can't see what match you are betting on.

you could easily think the folk  coming up with these ideas  have had no experience of using a betting site in their lives Grin

as anyone thought that this could actually be something thought out from the beginning, the markets used to work well, the video stream used to work very well, especially in horse racing and of late its incredible how bad it is

my point is...(Betfair viewpoint) let's make the old thing slower and the new thing faster...so it would be another reason for the newer people to betfair to choose one over the other and the people that have been here for longer eventually consider to move to the newest faster thing, which is in my opinion horrendous (football beta), whatever you win in speed you lose twice that much on every other aspect of the actual process of placing a bet clearly and efficiently

just a thought

Atrocious here too.  Don't want to switch to Beta, but feel like my hand is being forced for the markets that have the option, as it's so slow.

All reminds me of when BT had an overall grip on telecoms services and they basically did what they effin well liked - you either liked it or lumped it .

Then came along competition - everyone with any sense left ,now they are begging folk to return .

c**** they were (probably still are )

Thanks for the replies, nice to know it's not a PC issue.

I don't use Beta.  It's ****.  As Investor says, too much space is taken up by unnecessary rubbish making it difficult to use.  Definitely not designed by someone who's ever had more than a £2 punt on something.

I've had the same problem with Chrome, Firefox, and IE.

I've emailed Betfair but no response.

I'm sure it's intentional to get people to switch to Beta.
By:

And that's the other thing, Beta is only an option on certain sports.  I'll email them again to try and get some sort of response.  I'll tweet them too, not that that'll get me far.

I don't think it's intentional, just that they haven't bothered to fix it as they are getting rid of the old site.

I actually noticed it for the first time a month or two ago when they shut down the site for some maintenance.  It wasn't that big a deal to begin with but the last week or two it's become a nightmare.

It has slightly improved since the weekend, but that's more likely to be because the site's obviously quieter during the week.

i emailed betfair back an forth . they told me basically its your problem as NO ONE is complaining to them

im scared of switching between markets in a match sometimes ...

i tried using another computer at the same time ... but it crashes on both computers

so its definatly something on their side

they want you to use the new site but its awful !!!!!

Well i want to try out the Beta and that won't let me place a bet; it either does one of two things for me:

(1) When i've pressed Place Bet, it gives me Confirm, which i press, and that just sends me back to Place Bet, so i go round in circles, or

(2) If Confirm Bet does work, i get Placing Bet and the little rotating circle for in action... but it never closes out and i have to refresh and on checking, the bet hasn't gone through.

Have emailed them, but in the meantime just having to using old.

They've not responded to any of my emails.  No response whatsoever.  This is a first, in the past they'd at least tell me to delete my cookies.

there is no reason for this site to be so slow except if the people behind it want it to be slow

just think... the stock exchanges and the billions of transcations that are made everey single day, poker sites with more than 200K players playing at the same time, bank sites with millions making every type of transactions every single minute

if anyone here believes that the problem comes from their own computer/internet connection or whatever than you have no idea what you are talking about and you are the perfect (dumb) customer Betfair wants

Some of us are 'loyal customers'. I can imagine others loading the betfair website, waiting 5 seconds, seeing it doesn't work, and saying 'this sucks, I'll just place my bets elsewhere'...

Just to say I have this problem too.  I was going to format my hard drive to try and sort it out.

That's the thing, I spent quite a bit of time looking into my PC just in case, but thankfully didn't do anything extreme.

I've just tweeted @betfairsports as I still have had no response to my email.  I'm @MrTempletonPeck , not that I use it much.
By:

I think it's a deliberate attempt to dumb down the site to even lower levels - maybe BF have done research amongst certain sectors of the pop' and realised them folk prefer the bells and whistles that BETA may provide .

I can't think theres any another reason

Just heard back from their Tweeter - they're pretty good on Twitter - and I should be getting a call to discuss the issue.  Will update once I've spoken with them.

But it is feckin awful  .

If something is of benefit to a company they will throw it at you whether you want it or not.

I don't remember BBC either asking me if i no longer wanted analogue - i hate digital and all it stands for. Pixelated ,slow pictures with stupid icons popping up .
By:
Coachbuster
When: 13 Apr 12 10:58
and then what happens - digital TV is so bad that it is almost unwatchable - so they can then turn round and offer you 'HD' at a price .

except HD is actually worse than analogue to start with .

I won't be discussing Beta, Coachbuster, just the fact the 'Classic' site keeps hanging with the message: 'Loading. Please wait while the market loads..."

The mention of Beta on this thread is to do with a conspiracy theory that Betfair are intentionally not fixing the classic site to force people to move to Beta. As Beta covers just a few sports, I don't think this is the case.

Apologies if I've misunderstood you.
By:

Fair enough - we shouldn't jump to conclusions .

I was on the phone and a helpful guy tells me they are adding the finishing touches to their sportsbook - completed in 7 days -  maybe that could be slowing things
By:
Lusitano71
When: 13 Apr 12 12:50
I'm sorry Templeton Peck but you are a naive person

just explain to me why that type of loading problems doesn't occur in the horse racing markets where there is no time delay for your bet to be matched, more people concentrated in just one market (win), and races take 2 or 3 minutes to unfold?
why that only happens in the football markets?

I love it when someone now says something against an entity that its main objective is to win money and their job is to figure out ways to win more money and you speak against them and automatically you get the "Conspiracy Theory" argument

you obviously still believe in the "fair" part of the Betfair name...I don't

I also don't live in "la-la land" or think that they are here with somekind of altruistic mission towards their customers

It's happening in many sports, not just football.

I've not had the promised phone call but have had a generic email telling me to download this:

Ok, I've had the phone call and their advice was to use Firefox and to frequently empty the cache/delete cookies, etc.

They've not had a flood of calls which suggests it's not a problem at their end, even though some of us on this thread have had the exact same symptoms for the last few weeks.

It could be a isp issue, I'm using bethere, so if you all are then it could be an issue with them.

What's odd is that for the last few hours it's been perfect, it's not frozen on a single occasion.  Here's hoping that whatever the issue was has gone for good...

I already use firefox, that doesn't work.
