For Howe its a punt. Your average manager is lucky to get 3/4 seasons at a club and that includes them having a decent start at the club.
Its no major shock to me if Newcastle start badly this season that fans start calling for Howes head. IMHO if he knows there will be a minimum spend and only 1 or 2 half decent signings, i'd bin off Newcastle and take the England job. He's guaranteed at least 4 years (worst case scenario) and unless he stinks the shop up (Unlikely as he has shown he is a decent coach), he will get another PL job at maybe a West Ham level. Hes a very good coach/manager but he has been strung up with this PSR bull5hit. I also get the impression he didnt get on with Ashworth and faling out with DOFs usually marks your card with owners like Newcastles who don't like being dictated to. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Yeah, agree with that Racing. Though I think Newcastle fans would back him in a difficut start.
But the changes at Newcastle must concern him. Reported that players can now be signed without his agreement... and worse, he seems to have been blamed for the club's injury list and some 'injury expert' has been brought in to oversee training sessions and tell Eddie what he is doing wrong. I'd advise him to take the England job. As said, even if it doesn't go great he'd likely get a West Ham, or even Spurs level job in the aftermath. The England job might not come around again for 6 years and if Newcastle ends in a sacking his career might take a turn for the worse. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

This is the most inactive market I've ever been involved in.
I blame the FA; no info coming out about the process even unoffically. Remember the 2006 one, we had an official 4 man shortlist, and there were regular updates about the interview process, Martin O'Neill's power point presentations etc Then they offered it to Scolari, who wasn't on the shortlist.
