Just drove along one of the many millionaire rows adjacent to where I live to see the most crass and openly opulent display of Xmas trees and decorations, all lit by electricity and all shamelessly displayed openly in front gardens and driveways. That same electricity that many of the much less fortunate than these greedy, smug, self-satisfied, I'm alright jacks simply cannot afford.
Absolutely disgusting. No doubt these self-same utterly selfish people will attend their annual watch night services to sanctimoniously re-affirm their christianity and their imagined love of their fellow human beings, shaking each others hands and embracing one another on their way out of churches. As so many of their fellow human beings freeze in their beds with little to look forward to on the day itself. |

Unbelievable scheduling from the SPFL.
2 mid-week away ties within 3 days of each other at our 2 furthest away competitors in the Christmas week. Aberdeen on Tuesday and Dingwall tonight. Crazy with no thought given to the travelling supporters. |

Ibrox has been selected by FOUR FOUR TWO magazine as the best British stadium.
Not surprised, magnificent building with an unsurpassed match day atmosphere. |
|
By:

Even when it was built new Ibrox wasn';t the best British stadium. It isn;t even the best Scottish stadium. |

Rangers
Capacity 50,817 Opened 1899 If you’re looking for the best atmosphere in British football, Glasgow is the place. For its sheer vibrancy, passion and intensity, on and off the pitch, nothing on these shores compares to the matchday experience at an Old Firm fixture. Few games in the world can equal it – arguably only Boca Juniors versus River Plate. Big European nights at Ibrox and Celtic Park are pretty special too, as various legends like Lionel Messi and Gigi Buffon have attested over the years. There’s very little to choose between the two grounds, and FFT does its best to maintain neutrality on all Rangers vs Celtic matters, but by the sheer nature of a list like this, there has to be a number one (inevitably dooming us to a deluge of angry letters). Ibrox just about takes top spot, even though its capacity is smaller by around 10,000, however the generosity to away teams in Europe, solidifies it as our number one. ![]() |

If you say so.The original statement simply bragged that it was "the best stadium". However, as you have belatedly brought up "atmosphere" I'll talk about it too and there is absolutely nothing to beat walking on to the pitch at Anfield. Different gravy. |
|
By:
even as a Rangers sympathiser (from when they had so many English players) that is a remarkable statement from 442 magazine...

LH presumably referring to a by gone era regarding Anfield for that matter...

Rangers FC didn't pay taxes to revenue to fund Her Majesty's palaces and armed forces wages and then were quite rightly liquidated, reformed by Charles Green as new club SECVO.
Lest they forget lads every post the loyalist bigot posts under any name we will remind them |

What stadium in Scotland comes anywhere near to Ibrox Honcho? Parkhead got a fantastic approach, paid for by GCC for the Commonwealth games, but thereafter it is in a state of disrepair. Rangers have spent millions in the past few seasons improving the stadium. |
|
By:
From any angle other than the front of the stadium Parkhead looks like a large Meccano build gone wrong.

Would have to agree with brentford on that although I haven't read the criteria used in getting to that position. Beautiful stadium now that the repair programme is complete and most of the scheduled improvements have been carried out. |
|
By:
But they weren't liquidated - they were allowed to keep their prime asset, without which recovery would have taken decades longer if at all - Ibrox itself. Unheard of.

Strange breed some of the celtic bhoys, they'd rather talk about the Rangers, and when challenged deny being celtic fans.
TBF I don't blame them. |

We still and always will hold the record league match attendance in Britain. (118,000) That aside have a Happy New Year Aka and everyone else who have contributed to the thread. |

Rangers, 1990/91 Before Graeme Souness’s arrival in 1986, Rangers hadn’t won the title in eight seasons; they then claimed 10 of the next 11. The player-manager, described as “out of order”, “obnoxious” and “difficult to deal with” by none other than himself, took advantage of English clubs’ post-Heysel ban to attract Terry Butcher, Chris Woods, Trevor Steven, Gary Stevens, Trevor Francis and Ray Wilkins to Ibrox. By 1990, English clubs were back in Europe and Souness had hung up his boots, but the titles kept rolling in. Souey recruited Terry Hurlock as his replacement and Mark Hateley as a targetman alongside Mo Johnston, whose shibboleth-shattering signing – he was Gers’ first high-profile Catholic – was perhaps peak Souness vs The World. |

Walter was a far superior manager. God rest him. |

Happy New Year Aka, are you happy with the appointment of Micky Beale?
I would have thought he was cut from the same cloth as Mark Warburton, happy enough to work on a shoestring budget, would that be fair comment. |
