magnificent stuff stewarty in getting to the semif final I dont think I've said otherwise. I remember nearly missing a flight cheering penalties on for walter's team to make final in Prestwick.
So 100% respect from myself, no arguments here, I can assure you of that

Agree Sonta. After the OF game Celtics last 3 games are Hearts (H) - Dun Utd (A) - Motherwell (H) Even if Rangers win the OF game I can't see Celtic dropping 4 points in those 3 games.

Really tough tie though Stew. Leipzig currently in 4th place in the Bundesliga 21 points behind Bayern. And 11 points behind 2nd placed Borussia Dortmund who we easily beat earlier in the competition.
However the annual table (2022 only) shows Leipzig on top on GD. So 2nd half of the season obviously so much better than the first half. However they did lose 2-1 to 6th placed Union Berlin at the weekend. Coincidently they beat Union Berlin 2-1 at home in the cup 4 days earlier. I would imagine with the league well over they rested a few players though.

Balogun will be suspended for the Celtic game. So we better hope there are no injuries to the back 4 on Thursday.
On reflection, as I don't think we'll be doing a lot of attacking on Thursday, Roofe will be that much of a miss. Sakala or Wright with their speed, whilst not as good as Roofe, could be better options as we'll be playing on the break.
Always remember Sunday the 22nd of May 2005 Stew. Anything is possible.

They rested players for both games. I backed Leipzig at 20/1 ew after the home draw against Sociedad, so have been following them. They've regularly been smashed in the betting. Into 1.46 against Frankfurt for example iirc. Based on that any odds against outright is very good value, but last 3 games they've looked a bit jaded. They're success has led to a jam packed schedule so Rangers playing them at a good time. Still there's a gulf in class between the two sides with Leipzig 2 goals better over 2 legs, and I fully expect a full strength Leipzig for this match.

massive price celtic i make them a 4/6 chance, and i didnt fancy them in semi final at evens on neutral ground, very strange betting IMO as nothing has changed.

Should GVB take a chance on Amad Diallo to lead the line in Germany. A chance to finally shine? I think sometimes we concentrate more on the opposition than our own record in Europe. Getting more confident by the hour.
I also see that we've reopened contract talks with Alex Lowry who's been a standout for the B team this season.

We should forget about the league. It's only Europe that counts now unless you count the Scottish Cup. Personally I would give Hearts the trophy now if it meant we got into the final. Wishful thinking I know but we can do it.
MALAY, no problems I may add, I know you weren't having a pop and if it goes bad for us both I have plenty of relatives/friends in Hamilton that can get us season tickets for the Accies.

stewarty b, ta but i've never been in the new stadium, i loved the old douglas park, even went to wtach clyde occasionally there, i suppose it's all progression but not for myself. I'm rarely in Scotland anyway and particularly not Hamilton.
Europe massive for you, as was for Walter, Ally and underrated lad mcdowall in coaching when you reached final against zenith, and MON when he got to seville, did Celtic win anything that season ? not sure they did.
Enjoy the occasion as said previously great work to get there, without a doubt.

Congratulations to the Rangers Youth team on winning the Scottish Youth Cup. They beat Hearts 2-1 at Hampden last night in a game that was televised live on the BBC. Good game to watch with both teams committed to attack. `

OOPS missed out the £2.8m semi final payment and the near £1m 10 year co-efficiency bonus. Takes the prize money to £13.2m and the gross income to £29.5m.

Leipzig played a league game last night and lost 3-1 away to Borussia Munchengladbach. In 5th place and chasing a top 4 finish to guarantee a CL group place they seemingly played their first team. Seems astonishing so close to the Ibrox tie.

Just read that Jimmy Bell, our kit man, has died aged 57. A bit of a character by all accounts and popular with everyone at Ibrox including the fans. RIP.

The same again tomorrow night would be fantastic. One game away from a European final, some achievement no matter what the result.

long term employees are the heart and soul of all clubs, players, managers will always come and go for money. Even more so the committee guys at junior clubs who didn't get paid a penny were the real club. Does Junior football exist anymore in scotland though or is all lowland league ?

Europa League Final on Wednesday the 18th of this month followed by the Scottish Cup Final 3 days later. We have 3 league games prior to that with both Dundee Utd and Ross County at Ibrox followed by Hearts away. The leagues gone and 2nd place guaranteed so I'm sure GVB will play a lot of fringe players in these 3 games. And Roofe back to full fitness will be a bonus for the team.

Congrats Aka, a great result for rangers last night, to be honest I didn't see it coming, but it was well deserved on the night.
Will you be able to make the final, sure to be a great occassion, and having beaten two better German teams, there should be nothing to fear.

Cheers GH. Despite my score prediction I thought it a tough ask given the Leipzig were the form team in the Bundesliga this year. I'll be watching on the tv wishing I was there but my travelling days are over.
We've only played them once before in Europe and that was way back in 1960 in the semi final of the EC (They hammered us 6-1 and 6-3) Funnily enough we hammered another German team Borussia Munchengladback the following season (3-0 and 8-0) on our way to the CWC final.

A nothing game tonight against Ross County at Ibrox and expect Rangers to field a few B team players again. Still no team news but expect Leon King to start and maybe even Alex Lowry. Not sure about Adam Devine or Charlie McCann who both played for the B team in Monday nights Glasgow Cup Final so might be a chance for others.

4-1 it ended up last night but no sign of Kemar Roofe. In a race to get fit for Sevilla but must be a gig doubt to make. Ryan Jack though will be fit according to GBV.

No Aka. I spoke to friends and family in mostly Lanarkshire and the Glasgow area and between them all they possessed 4 guaranteed tickets.
My only chance would be travelling to Seville with a deep wad of Euros in my pocket hoping to get the right tout and pay a small fortune.
I'm not prepared to take that risk. I couldn't bear to be in Seville and not in the stadium and to be honest there are Rangers far more deserving
than me to be in the stadium.
Do you know what tv channel is showing it?

Thanks sevey. Looks like the pub for me but it's a case of which one. I've a pal who lives half a mile away so will probably follow him in albeit still not comfortable with the covid situation. I can't believe I pay BBC the licence fee and the best they can offer is woman's football and rugby.

GBV had Wednesdays events very much in mind with todays line up. Of todays starting eleven none, apart from possibly Ramsey, will start on Wednesday. We played the last 20 minutes with 4 fringe players and 7 B team players one of whom, Alex Lowry, was MotM. Hearts played a weakened team as well but did still have a few first team regulars. To come back from a goal down to win 3-1 was a decent achievement.

And that will need to be factored in because if you win on wednesday theres no way theyll be sober for the cup final on saturday

In 2008 Sonta was the same set-up and after the defeat by Zenit we beat Qeen of the South 3-2 after a mighty struggle. Although unlike this year when we could rest players we were still involved in the league race and because of a fixtures pile up had to play Saturday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday in the week before the European final.

Fair play to sevco, they got to the final, put up a good display on the night and there doesn't seem to have been any significant crowd trouble out of 100,000 of them, a decent advert for the Scottish game, so well done, a pat on the head and a wee doggy biscuit for little sevco and chums

Hopefully we can have a Seville wall where people can buy a brick and get their name inscribed on it. We could also have a Seville Suite in Hospitality. And maybe commission a play about the The Road to Seville. All great ideas, I wonder where I get them from.

Celtic lost in Seville in 2003 Sonta but their fans still celebrate getting there. I'm sure once the disappointment dies down we'll do the same. Was a fantastic achievement just getting there.

it was a very poor match in quality for a European final, Germans deserved their victory but were not that impressive either. Good to see all the fans enjoyed their trip and no trouble.

For their good natured fans, and I have several friends who are fans, I have sympathy. How's it going Aka? I just cannot get over Seville. My good lady told me to give my heed a shake. I have nothing to offer but blood, sweat and tears.
It was like putting a good few quid on a horse and getting beat a nose. I've had many phone calls from fellow bears but it looks like I've took it the worst. Speak later to the top Rangers man on here.
