After the OF game Celtics last 3 games are Hearts (H) - Dun Utd (A) - Motherwell (H)
Even if Rangers win the OF game I can't see Celtic dropping 4 points in those 3 games.

Celtic will win next week, they will be odds on too I think.

Really tough tie though Stew.
Leipzig currently in 4th place in the Bundesliga 21 points behind Bayern.
And 11 points behind 2nd placed Borussia Dortmund who we easily beat earlier in the competition.

However the annual table (2022 only) shows Leipzig on top on GD.
So 2nd half of the season obviously so much better than the first half.
However they did lose 2-1 to 6th placed Union Berlin at the weekend.
Coincidently they beat Union Berlin 2-1 at home in the cup 4 days earlier.
I would imagine with the league well over they rested a few players though.

The missing players are going to be our Achilles heel Aka.

I'll wait til after the Leipzig game before predicting the result.

Balogun will be suspended for the Celtic game.

On reflection, as I don't think we'll be doing a lot of attacking on Thursday, Roofe will be that much of a miss.
Sakala or Wright with their speed, whilst not as good as Roofe, could be better options as we'll be playing on the break.

They rested players for both games.  I backed Leipzig at 20/1 ew after the home draw against Sociedad, so have been following them.  They've regularly been smashed in the betting.  Into 1.46 against Frankfurt for example iirc.  Based on that any odds against outright is very good value, but last 3 games they've looked a bit jaded.  They're success has led to a jam packed schedule so Rangers playing them at a good time.  Still there's a gulf in class between the two sides with Leipzig 2 goals better over 2 legs, and I fully expect a full strength Leipzig for this match.

massive price celtic i make them a 4/6 chance, and i didnt fancy them in semi final at evens on neutral ground, very strange betting IMO as nothing has changed.

long term employees are the heart and soul of all clubs, players, managers will always come and go for money. Even more so the committee guys at junior clubs who didn't get paid a penny were the real club.

Europa League Final on Wednesday the 18th of this month followed by the Scottish Cup Final 3 days later.
We have 3 league games prior to that with both Dundee Utd and Ross County at Ibrox followed by Hearts away.
The leagues gone and 2nd place guaranteed so I'm sure GVB will play a lot of fringe players in these 3 games.
And Roofe back to full fitness will be a bonus for the team.

We've only played them once before in Europe and that was way back in 1960 in the semi final of the EC (They hammered us 6-1 and 6-3)

GBV had Wednesdays events very much in mind with todays line up.
Of todays starting eleven none, apart from possibly Ramsey, will start on Wednesday.
We played the last 20 minutes with 4 fringe players and 7 B team players one of whom, Alex Lowry, was MotM.
Hearts played a weakened team as well but did still have a few first team regulars.
To come back from a goal down to win 3-1 was a decent achievement.

Its a bit strange the europa final being before the scottish cup final

And that will need to be factored in because if you win on wednesday theres no way theyll be sober for the cup final on saturday

In 2008 Sonta was the same set-up and after the defeat by Zenit we beat Qeen of the South 3-2 after a mighty struggle.
Although unlike this year when we could rest players we were still involved in the league race and because of a fixtures pile up had to play Saturday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday in the week before the European final.

Fair play to sevco, they got to the final, put up a good display on the night and there doesn't seem to have been any significant crowd trouble out of 100,000 of them, a decent advert for the Scottish game, so well done, a pat on the head and a wee doggy biscuit for little sevco and chums
