If only all fans had the same class as Norwich Rob.
That defeat may mean his team get relegated, but he has the class to praise the victors despite being unlucky in the game. |

mover-you have made a comment about the amount of Liverpool winning the lg to be fair almost if these have been started by utd.city or Chelsea fans

No judge them by what Dalglish,Rodgers,Benitez and Stevie G say.
![]() A massive advantage to not be playing European football helped Liverpool win the league . zeez eez facts chaps whether you like it or not and that does devalue it as an achievement. |

I dont mind Liverpool winning the league, fair play to them if they do. Obviously Id rather City won it and its not over yet. Im not having any of this nonsense about them doing it on a budget or by not spending anything cos thats bollox!

the truth of the matter is that they were the richest english club due to them being virtually the only club recieving significant tv moneies because of their european success, and of course success begat success.
Manchester United outspent us quite significantly during the 70's & 80's, yet won next to nothing, & they regularly smashed the British transfer record. & the so-called 'tv money' back then accounted for virtually sweet fa during that period. It was cash generated from gate receipts that determined how much a club could, & couldn't, afford. So please don't try & justify your own club's excessive spending over the past 10 years by saying that it was no different to us in the 70's & 80's. If the FFP rules were back in place then, we'd have sailed through them because we were a well run club that didn't spend what it hadn't earned through it's endeavours on the pitch. More than a bit different to the modern day Chelsea. |
|
By:
Liverpool have spent money, but Chelsea and city have far bigger squads who should be able to cope with the fixtures,as for a devalued league sounds the sort of thing the classless cfc manager would come out with.

If City win you aren't ashamed by your profligacy. If Liverpool win you are - especially after spending £100,000,000 on Willian and Salah to stop the underdogs posing a risk to your dominance.
The main problem with Chelsea is that Mourinho has not backed his strikers, they look shot as a result. Very poor management to crush such a crucial part of your squad. Saying that I wouldn't worry too much, Victor Moses will let you see his medal. |
|
By:
from what i have read on here the majority of chelsea fans have been magnanimous albeit a little premature as nothing is won yet.
Hunter is 1 of 2 things, he is either on a fishing trip in which case he has bagged plenty, or a very sad bitter individual who takes football far too serious and acts like I did as a teenager when Michael Thomas scored THAT goal at anfield, the thing is I moved on and grew up where as he is still throwing his toys about. |
|
By:
Im not sure I agree with that inca. I know City have some really expensive players but you take a few out eg Aguero, Silva, Toure, or Kompany and it is like watching something totally different. No doubt if I could put my finger on why I would be a manager
Maybe its just not possible to replace some of them and even if it was replacements that good just arent going to sit on a bench. All of those Ive mentioned have missed quite significant parts of the season through injury and there has to be more chance of injuries as a result of more games played. |
|
By:
Trust me monkey I am in no way ashamed by what you call Man City's profligacy. Ive seen every other top club in England do it at sometime in the past 40 years so if City (or should I say its owners) blow a few hundred million on some crap player I dont really give two hoots as long as they replace him with a better one

HUNTER esq is on no fishing trip,HUNTER esq agrees with Rodgers,Gerrard,Benitez,Dalglish,Mourinho and Wenger in that not playing in Europe and being knocked out of our cups aided Liverpool in winning the league and therefore it does devalue that achievement ,there really is not an argument to be had.
Anyone who fails to see that is living in another world. |

so mr meaner shows up everything that is wrong with this place.
can't debate anything, puts in the man u spend as a compleat red herring, then wants to accuse me of trying to justify chelseas spending 30 years later, by saying i said something which i never said [i've got news for you meaner all the spending is within the rules, unlike the brown envelopes that were doing the rounds in the seventies]. the top and bottom of it is that lpool got mor money off tv in the seventies and they used it. and the more success they got,the more money they made. anybody who says that is'n't so is way off the ball. |

..then I am living in another world....

There seems to be this every growing resentment for clubs that spend money. It's nothing new, it's always happened! It's just there's some new clubs doing it. I love it that City are the most expensive team in the world - great! Stick that up your pipe Real Madrid and Barcelona. All we need to do now is get the best players for the money, which might be a bit trickier
What would the EPL be like without City and Chelsea? A lot less competitive is the answer! |

so hunter has gone from devalued, to abnormal, now we're back to devalued.
as with most of his postings he's all over the place. i wonder what he'll come up with next? |

Brendan Rodgers's net spend over the past 2 years has been £53 million, & he has taken a 7th place side to the top of the league. Not only that, he has taken 7 less players off the payroll from the squad he inherited.
Chelsea's net spend over the same period has been £123 million, & yet they currently lie 5 points adrift of Liverpool. Has anyone actually considered the fact that it might just be because Brendan Rodgers is a very good manager ? Anyone ??????? |

Liverpool title win an irrelevance...
Liverpool title win an annoyance.... Liverpool title win against EU equality laws....didn't play same number of games as opponents.. ..take ya pick ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

yes mr meaner...quite a few on this thread.

it may well have something to do with the manager, as it may well have something to do with the forwards, and it may have something to do with the fact that they had an easier schedule than some.
past experience tells me that it's normally a number of things coming together at the right time that wins titles. |

so mr meaner shows up everything that is wrong with this place.
When you start banging on about tv money being a significant reason for our domination of the 70's & 80's, then you should be thankful I'm actually engaging in a serious debate rather than laughing at you. Who did your club pick up on the cheap that compares to the likes of Ray Clemence, Phil Neal, Kevin Keegan, Alan Hansen, Steve Nicol, Ian Rush etc during the aforementioned period. All key players during our domination of England & Europe, yet all players that were available to any club that had the scouting system to find them. |
|
By:
Funny enough, the last time Liverpool won the league they werent even in europe back then .....They should scratch that title aswell

By:
it may well have something to do with the manager,
There's no 'may' about it mate. Brendan Rodgers is an excellent manager, irrespective of whether we win the league or not. He's f***ing shook up you guys & all the others who think that playing FM Manager with an unlimited amount of cash = success. |

By:
..I agree...a very good manager and the potential to become one of the greats....the potential.

...cant believe how much he has improved Henderson..was a carthorse not long ago...now he looks to a bit of panache...
..and had improved sterling and sturridge also....as well as sorting the suarez thing out....impressive. |

I think I might have to go travelling for a while if this is what its going to be like listening to Liverpool fans. They havent even won it yet!

Chelsea's net spend over the same period has been £123 million, & yet they currently lie 5 points adrift of Liverpool. Yet despite all that Liverpool have actually posted a slightly bigger loss than Chelsea over the last financial year and a couple of million less than City. You can say what you like about other clubs spending money but it's a fact that Liverpool spent 50 million beyond their means during the last published accounting period. Something that leaves them vulnerable under FFP for UEFA competitions incidentally. |

BRENDAN RODGERS believes missing out on Europe could prove to be a “blessing” as Liverpool FC target Champions League qualification next season.
The Reds find themselves seven points adrift of fifth placed Arsenal with just six matches remaining and the Gunners also have a game in hand. The Anfield boss is refusing to concede defeat in the battle for a Europa League place, but says if Liverpool do fall short then the disappointment will be eased by the benefits of being able to focus solely on domestic action in 2013/14. The Reds’ European exertions this season placed a strain on Rodgers’ squad as they played a dozen games prior to being knocked out by Zenit St Petersburg in the last 32. And Rodgers admits the priority next season must be trying to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League to book Liverpool’s return to the Champions League after a four-year absence. “There are two arguments,” Rodgers said. “As a club we want to be in there. We really enjoyed the European football this season after it had been missing for a year and I know the supporters love the travel. “But you could argue that a season free of European football would give us a greater chance of finishing in a much higher position in the league". Now what is the argument again? |
|
By:
the argument is some brain dead idiot saying that because lpool didn't play in europe, which may or may not have been an advantage any title they might win will be devalued.
a view that would only be held by some bitter and twisted small minded individuals. more fair minded people will take the view that it was one factor in a number of things that went towards any success they may or may not have. |
|
By:
So we have the ramlings of the forum clown v the likes of Rodgers,Gerrard,Benitez,Mourinho and Wenger too name but a few .
There is no doubt it was an advantage even the manager has been quoted as saying it . |
|
By:
If we win it the magnitude of such an achievement should not be lost on anyone. They would be the only club ever to win the league without playing in Europe that season. No club has ever managed to do that.
|
|
By:
Don't think anyone is arguing that Liverpool weren't helped by not playing in Europe they are disputing your stupid comment that if they win it the victory would be devalued. All the people you claim support your view on the first point would laugh at your 'devalued' comment.
|
|
By:
hunter
THAT IS NOT THE ARGUMENT. nobody is saying that it wasn't an advantage.it was one of a number of factors what they are saying is that the views of people who say that anything they achieve is devalued is totally wrong, small minded, and reeks of sour grapes. |
|
By:
mex you are wasting your time with this clown spouts peoples opinions but states no facts
good luck tonight by the way, would be good to see an english club in the final. |
|
By:
Also full credit to all the Liverpool staff and legends who has played Mourinho at his own mind games. He tried to derail the challenge with his "they have a big advantage" quote, and Brendan turned it into his own mind games. How people have fallen into the trap beautifully, classic Brendan

|
By:
That is the argument I started the thread
![]() .At least we can be in no doubt that not playing in europe probably was decisive in why Liverpool won the league. Even the manager is saying it. If you want to argue that it does not devalue the achievement ,you can. But it does ![]() |
|
By:
Hunter, why has no other team won the premiership without being in Europe. If you are going to use this argument, at least answer the question.
