Anyone know what Poyet's results have been when he's managed teams against Newcastle? This is how I judge managers!

Welcome aboard, Gus.

i think gus poyet is a done deal
By:
I'm laying, its just paper talk so far.
By:
Poyet would be an idiotic appointment but then look at the people who are making the decision.
By:
i would be surprised if they go for poyet, he is way inexperienced to take on after such debacle
By:
Has a very good reputation in the game tho, for the way his teams play football and the money is looking positive, although thought he was going to be next man in at Fulham??? Would Gus move to the grim north ?
By:
Why would Poyet be an idiotic appointment? His managerial record is very good and he's won more trophies as a manager than Zola has.
By:
What "teams"? He's only had one and he was dismissed from that for gross misconduct (upheld on appeal).
Tony Bloom and Patrice Evra wouldn't agree he has a very good reputation in the game. |
By:
Ps. I'm not saying he'd be a better appointment that Zola, just pointing out that "idiotic" is way too strong a word for someone with a good managerial record like Poyet.
By:
He won the League from about 14-1 pre-season at his first attempt and then made a more than respectable showing at the next level up. Not a bad performance at all.
By:
what is this good managerial record?
By:
But if Bloom and Evra don't like him fair enough, they know a lot more than I do. Just pointing out what he achieved results wise.

why isnt dimateo fancied by the market? still the papers are saying that he is the first choice of the sunderland power brokers. what is his expectation? surely this kind of job is ideal for him
By:
Sunderland looking for a young head coach who stays away from player transfers, not sure Poyet and his ego will accept that. Although I've read Short was considering Poyet last time out so I would assume he's definitely near the top of the list.

By:
Winning League 1 is not the necessary credentials for avoiding relegation from the Premier League with a bunch of players brought in by an agent turned director of football.
By:
By:
Like Cross has said, it's his to turn down... all you can ask now is will he accept??
By:
i think the market needs some big pocketed market manipulators. i dont think most of the money flying around is "in the know" money
By:
Not enough liquidity, those ITK are already on at fancy prices, look at the graph.
By:
what are ITKs

Di Canio apparently hired Italians as his back room staff so it would make sense for the club to hire an Italian who might be tempted to keep those staff on rather than the club having to pay out the remainder of their contracts if they get replaced.
By:
Di Canios back room staff have already gone the journey with him....the two Italians who are still there...head scout and director of football were nothing to do with him.
By:
grayhawk is a mitk imo
By:
If they want a foreign manager who has got a good record and won League 1 at the first time of asking then they need look no further than a young, motivational Italian coach recently out of work called Paolo Di...oh hang on...
By:
When all's said and done Trackman i would have to agree with you.................................................................

Has anyone made any "my mate saw Mr x" at sunderland airport yet ?

"If they want a foreign manager who has got a good record and won League 1 at the first time of asking then they need look no further than a young, motivational Italian coach recently out of work called Paolo Di...oh hang on..."
Marychain...Di Canio didn't win League 1, he won League 2. I'm sure you know that really though. |

Poyet 1/5 on Skybet, but still Evens with Coral
By:
I don't understand why they keep changing managers. They're never going to win anything.
I would understand if they were actually trying to win something, but finishing mid table in the moneyship or beating Newcastle is regarded as the holy grail. Pulis would be the ideal choice as he's brilliant at finishing mid table while serving up fantastic entertaining football. |
By:
From my fact gathering thus far I think Zola is their number 1. I would guess Zola probably won't go for it though, doesn't appear to be the type of character to leave his current team/contract like 99% of the rest of the managers around.
Shame great odds on him... |

Gus Poyet is residing in the Marriott Hotel, Sunderland tonight. Fact.

I dumped my position on Meulensteen.
I can't bank on Short, Byrne and Cosi fan tutte doing the right thing. |
