I watch a lot of football, probably addicted to it tbh...Out of all the major leagues, I just can't have Spanish football. I have tried but, yes they play a technical style but it is in its essence very negative. Arguably even more so than Italian football imo.

I do watch it from time to time. By me saying I can't have it, I mean its general style. It is far from the first league I would watch. Now the Belgian league, that is an interesting league to start following..

So you wouldnt watch Getafe v Mallorca then Winner Winner?

Having watched Getafe on sunday, i would strongly advise Winner Winner to never watch those mugs ever!

Getafe are not a bad side and have some decent players, there games can go a bit flat due to their sh1tty crowds though.

What I think people are missing in the league v league debate is that the culture of English football is affecting the teams.

These teams play against teams filled with long ball merchants and hatchet-men every week and dont know how to play against technical teams that they face in Europe. It worked for around 5 years but that was due to fantastic tactical managers imo, Benitez, Mourinho ect.

Guys like Silva & Carzola will be worse off moving to England as it will affect the technical side of their game, a move to Germany or staying in Spain would have been much more beneficial for them.

But the most ridiculous thing about it all is that the money hase'nt dried up, EPL clubs are hitting record spending every year and yet seem to be getting worse, whereas Valencia, Schalke, Dortmund & Malaga have spent very little (even losing some of their key players) and yet can outperform most of these free spending EPL sides, something is definitely not right!

The English sides would be better off limiting their spending and trying to raise youth, they may get still get beat in Europe but it would'nt be anywhere near as damning as spending £500m+ and struggling.

I'm just glad my team Liverpool have a Klopp type manager (of course not as good) who turns to youth instead of gambling on big names.

Whatever way you want to analyse football and why things have changed so dramatically/drastically you only have to look at Celtic/Rangers/Man Utd etc of the late 60s and the 70s.

Most of the players (Celtic particularly) consisted of players who were either English,Scots,Welsh or Irish.Celtic took on and beat the best in Europe with a team, all of whom lived within kicking distance of Parkhead.

I am by definition a Rangers fan,an accident of birth/religion/allegiance.The best "English" teams always had Scots,Irish and the odd Welsh player.Playing for pride in the team and also for their National shirt, not for money.

That is the short and definitive answer to why the UK has fallen behind........FOREIGNERS.

Blaming the foreigners is much too simplistic, in the old day the teams were full of English players but the NT was still average at best.

What I find most entertaining is that when the club teams from Serie A, La Liga & Bundesliga were struggling in Europe there NT's were still very competitive, what do the English have to fall back on is this decline continues?

They were warned years ago that football works in cycles but ignored it, with guys like Richard "EPL is where its at" Scudamore at the top who were oblivious to everything happening outside Eng-ger-land I guess its right when they say "you get what you deserve"
