He mentions us in his Mirror column every day, very sad man.
This is what he wrote yesterday ![]() "FC Nordsjaelland, Chelsea’s Champions League opponents tonight, are clearly not as bad as most of us think. If they were, they’d be in Manchester United’s group. Chelsea are at Nordsjaelland and United are at Cluj and it’s hard to say who has got the easier task. On reflection, probably Cluj." OBSESSED |

When you think of Riley and Webb just to name two who gave Utd decisions and how often they got Utd games this does have some truth in it. The big stain on Fergies reign at OT is the pressure he put on refs and the FA to favour him and his teams.

Charwell the bitter deluded scouser, excellent work at pointing out so decisions to suit his deluded agenda,
No mention of Newcastle at old trafford last season? The 1-1 draw in which Newcastle were given a penalty in which Rio Ferdinand clearly won the ball,The Referee that day?Mike Jones He's refereed united quite a few times since,Why no mention of this Mr Braindead?? |

English refs are the worst in the world and the world's highest paid footballers have been taking advantage of the English referees' craving to be on first-name terms with them for many years. That goes double if the player is English - a situation Aguerro alluded to this week.

Degsy,
Any comments on this; This is taken from the season Liverpool blew the league title; Penalties given to United 4 v Tottenham 5-2 v Liverpool 1-4 v Everton 1-0 v Bolton 2-0 Only one penalty made the result. Rest of them didn't change scoreline. Penalties given against United 3 v Fulham 2-0 v Liverpool 1-4 v Hull 4-3 Penalties (except Hull) were in matches where United lost. Number of United players sent off 5 Scholes v Fulham 2-0 Rooney v Fulham 2-0 Vidic v Liverpool 1-4 Vidic v Liverpool 2-1 Ronaldo v Man City 0-1 United lost every game in which a player was sent off (except City). Number of opposing players sent off 2 Robinson from West Brom (0-5) Wilkinson from Stoke (0-1) Let's look at Liverpool now. Penalties given to Liverpool 5 v Villa 5-0 v Villa 5-0 v United 4-1 v Newcastle 5-1 v West Ham 3-0 5 wins. Penalties given against Liverpool 2 v United 4-1 v Wigan 1-1 Only Mido's penalty cost them one point. Number of Liverpool players sent off 0 Number of opposing players sent off 10, YES 10 !! Barton from Newcastle (3-0) Folan from Hull (3-1) Friedel from Villa (5-0) Vidic from United (4-1) Vidic from United (2-1) Lampard from Chelsea (2-0) Adebayor from Arsenal (1-1) Valencia from Wigan (3-2) Zabelta from Man City (3-2) Cahill from Everton (2-0) More than a quarter of league matches with Liverpool playing in advantage of one player. Nine wins, one draw. So what does all that mean? Naff all imo. Maybe that is because some people don't always look to blame anything and everything after a loss. Yes we can have a moan about a decision but United lost to Spurs because they were excellent in the first half, we dominated in the second half but missed chance after chance. Might have had a penalty but didn't. It happens doesn't it. Some clubs blame the ref, some clubs blame the FA, some clubs talk about conspiracies against them, some clubs blame SAF, some clubs blame lack of funds, some blame the woodwork. One club blames all the above......... |

Biscuit if I could be bothered to research I am pretty sure I could put up "10 indisputable facts" about any club in the country to support an argument.

By:
PMSL, just checked out some of the facts above. You got to laugh, nothing else you can do.
2. Mike Dean, referee, when Blackburn beat Utd 2-3, hasn't refereed a Utd game since. #FACT Not true at all- Mike Dean has refereed TWO United matches since then, Arsenal away Jan12, Southampton away this season ![]() 6. Martin Atkinson - Involved in Utd's defeat to Chelsea, criticized by Alex, hasn't refereed Utd since. #FACT Not true at all- Martin Atkinson refereed Spurs v United at White Hart Lane March 2012 ![]() 8. Howard Webb has been United's most used referee since the defeat to Manchester City. #FACT Not true at all- Mark Halsey has refereed United in as many matches. Halsy (5), Webb (5), Foy (4), Oliver (3), Jones (3), Dowd (3), Dean (3), Marriner (3) ![]() Embarrassing stuff. |
|
By:
Just another one to put into perspective;
9. More than 18% of the penalties Webb has awarded in his 8 year career have been to United. #FACT Webb has refereed 384 matches and in that eight years has awarded United 10 penalties, that is 1.25 penalties a season on average. He also averages one penalty given to United in every 360 minutes of football when he has referred them. |
|
By:
Lets see how Mr Ryan Shinzi Wayne Antonio Rio Webb does on Sunday then
|

By:
Not much of a riposte degsy, would have expected a bit better from you mate.

These "facts" appear to have been taken from Rafa's little piece of paper.

|
By:
not sure what you want me to say pete , we all know Webb is a closet manc
|
|

The other 6 that are true are more than enough

Ok, let's just remind ourselves of these facts as I now have the Alan Wiley quote to answer his "fact" too, updated version.
2. Mike Dean, referee, when Blackburn beat Utd 2-3, hasn't refereed a Utd game since. #FACT Not true at all- Mike Dean has refereed TWO United matches since then, Arsenal away Jan12, Southampton away this season Whoops 4. Wiley, called "fat and unfit" by Alex after Utd's draw with Sunderland, "agreed to retire" that season. #FACT This is what Wiley said when he decided to retire after 11 years despite being offered another year by their association. “Sir Alex? I have either refereed or been a fourth official at Manchester United games on five occasions since then and there have been no problems. It’s always a handshake and hello. “To be fair, Sir Alex wrote a letter of apology in which he made it clear he was keen to also apologise to my wife and daughters too. “None of this has altered my view of Sir Alex as a manager. He’s unbelievable. He has that incredible skill of rebuilding football teams. “But he maybe stepped over a line that day.” 6. Martin Atkinson - Involved in Utd's defeat to Chelsea, criticized by Alex, hasn't refereed Utd since. #FACT Not true at all- Martin Atkinson refereed Spurs v United at White Hart Lane March 2012 Whoops 8. Howard Webb has been United's most used referee since the defeat to Manchester City. #FACT Not true at all- Mark Halsey has refereed United in as many matches. Halsy (5), Webb (5), Foy (4), Oliver (3), Jones (3), Dowd (3), Dean (3), Marriner (3) 9. Embarrassing stuff. |

I have to say mr wiley showed a lot more class, dignity and humility than SAF in the whole episode
I think he was an embarrasment, to himself and his club, and also the game of football |

Point 8 is true...........as of this sunday
![]() And is the 18% quoted in point 9 still true? |
|
By:
10. United's CEO is on the board of the English FA. #FACT
David Bernstein (Manchester City) is Chairman of that board. They won the league, Balotelli didn't get as big a ban as even Mancini expected. is that relevant re Bernstein's position? Not in my opinion. |
|
By:
RP its fans like yours who are the embarrassment putting up facts which are mostly lies or at best a barrel load of sh1t.
|
|
By:
Biscuit,
"And is the 18% quoted in point 9 still true"? Sadly even that is wrong. Bear in mind Webb has given United 1.25 penalties a season on average (Is that a lot?) The correct figure is 16.6% |

An old mate of mine (Billy Birch) was once a promising, up-coming young referee in The North West Counties league, which is based in Manchester. He consistently received high marks, & as such, he quite often reffed big games in the league - In August 1995, his progression was furthered by the fact that he was given the opportunity to be a linesman at the Manchester United v York City League Cup tie. United, despite fielding a very strong side, lost 3-0. Early on in the 2nd half a York player was brought down whilst clear through on goal. My mate Billy flagged for a penalty, which was duly converted to make it 2-0. A bit later on as United were preparing to make a substitution, Ferguson asked Billy if he was a Scouser. He confirmed this to be the case & asked Fergie why did it matter to him, to which he said nothing & just turned away. At the end of that season, somewhat amazingly, his licence was revoked, with the reason being he didn't have the required amount of marks. However, he has documented evidence which proves he had considerably higher marks than a lot of other officials who were kept on.
Regardless of whether or not you're a United fan. I think there's 2 things that most people can agree regarding Alex Ferguson. 1 - He's a great manager who's achieved an incredible amount of success that is unlikely ever to be surpassed. In doing so, he's produced some wonderful footballing sides during his time in management. 2 - He's a nasty, spiteful, vindictive man, with an enormous chip on his shoulder. |

RedRebel,
Firstly I was at that match and yes United did have a fairly strong side out although we had players who many on here won't even have heard of. We had Kevin Pilkington in goal, Pat McGibbon in defence and Simon Davies up front. York fully deserved their win and even though we won the away leg 3-1 they deservedly knocked us out. I am sorry but your friend's ommission could be for any reason whatsoever. Being scouse wouldn't be the reason but I am only guessing..... |

bitter liverpool fans with their chip on their shoulders..... here´s another set of numbers for you to analyse....

he wont be too bothered but he ll never have the affection that Matt Busby gets, he was a decent man even though he didnt make it easy for 1 or 2 of his successors

Just in case anybody is wondering what SAF did say in his post match interview about Alan Wiley who was the referee;
"He was not fit enough for a game of that standard," Ferguson said after the game. "The pace of the game demanded a referee who was fit. It is an indictment of our game. You see referees abroad who are as fit as butcher's dogs. He was taking 30 seconds to book a player. It was ridiculous." Ferguson was wrong to say that and rightly apologied verbally and in writing. He was also wrong about Wiley's fitness as was shown afterwards. |
|
By:
harry,
Now that was embarrassing and not one of SAF's finest moments. Greed at its worst imo |

Why do we automatically assume that there is no corruption in the premier league? it goes on almost everywhere else, why not here too?
The simple answer is that English people just don't want to believe it. Then there's the greyer area of what 'corruption' actually means. People don't seem too upset that ManU can be half a billion quid in debt as long as the money they don't actually have is spent on buying players (and not match officials). To be honest, I would think 'corruption' would be far more likely in the lower leagues. And even then it wouldn't be 'throwing matches' corruption, it would be 'booting the ball out of play at the kickoff because you've got £50 on Betfair for the time of the first throw-in' corruption! |

what about when he cancelled the loan of the man u players to Preston? a despicable act, where fergie decided the careers of the young lads were less important than his own self-interest. Drunk with his own power
|

By:
degsy, the BBC issue has been done to death.
Not sure SAF ever went to court for "sh1tting" on the hard shoulder. But you lads don't seem to mind making things up. He was charged for driving on the hard shoulder of the motorway and his solicitor disgracefully got him off it by saying that he had a stomach problem which required him to return to the training ground to use the toilet. I don't believe that for one minute tbh but the magistrate did and it follows a whole list of celebrities who get off at court. |

By:
sugarfoot,
spot on mate. I think the writer was wrong with those comments because we all know that the game is often changed depending on events and penalties at a certain time etc are very much in that category. |
