Easy solution.

Fixtures published before season starts. Each game gets a number from 1 to 380 ie Chronologically from first to last.

Ref 1 gets games 1, 17, 33, 49 etc
Ref 2 gets games 2, 18, 34, 50,etc
Ref 3 gets games 3, 20, 35, 51 etc

Any ref gets injured, then a replacement from the second tier is brought in.

Publish the fixtures with the intended ref together before season starts.

It's a decent idea harry but wouldn't work because it would throw up the occasional game where a particular ref was in charge of a game involving his own team. Clattenburg for example could get a Newcastle game if it was done that way.

I was just about to post the same Biscuit.

I think it's best to leave it as it is at the moment. Let Gill & Fergie decide who refs their games.

Penalties given to United  4

    v Tottenham 5-2
    v Liverpool 1-4
    v Everton 1-0
    v Bolton 2-0

Only one penalty made the result. Rest of them didn't change scoreline.

can you explain what you mean bye this.

barrycool,

I only copied and pasted that set of stats from a forum to show how fans of one club could use any data to provide fuel to their argument. In this particular case the writer concentrated on penalties and sending offs. In other cases, like the opening post on here, people use the identity of the referee whilst others use the bloke who does the fixture list etc etc.

Fans can always find something to make their perceptions appear realistic.

I didn't write the comment about the penalty/scoreline but I believe the writer mistakenly seems to think that when a penalty is given then everything else that happened in that match would have remained the same. This is obviously nonsense.

Some of the decisions that went Man Uninted's way towards the end of last season were an embarrassment.
Man U 1 nothing up at old trafford against Fulham springs to mind, 2 or 3 games to go,last minute stone wall penalty for Fulham turned down which would have near handed the league to City. Then the penalties they did get the week later when Young I think it was who clearly dived was embarrassing again.

As a neutral seeing man city win the league in the fashion they did when they had everything against them throughout the season was a sweet moment for football.

The main crux of the article focuses on the apparent repercussions for referees who don't meet with the approval of Ferguson. Pointing out who's had the most penalties etc, doesn't really have much relevance.

Only ABUs can't understand how a ref is demoted after getting 3-5 serious decisions wrong.

That's actually one of the most embarrassing inept articles I've read in a long time. To even bring Hillsborough and the Guilford 4 into a discussion about refereeing in the EPL is simply embarrassing.

Apparently Sky are the only production company who would be allowed to investigate any wrong doings in the EPL, oh no, hang on a minute.

Apparently United get all the decisions, hang on a minute, 3 stone wall penalties and 2 close ones not given at OT last match.

Starting to see some serious holes in his article. My guess is he is a bigger ABU then Eboue and starfish.

If I was a united fan I would be happy with the treatment my team had received from the majority of officials

im sure they have had some decisons go against them, but on the whole dont think they can have many complaints over the years

I actually retract my statement. It is clear that anything anti United will appeal to the mass ABU market. I can't blame the journalist for writing what sells, the ones who are swallowing it and not even seeing it's serious shortcomings are the one's who shoulder the real embarrassment. Ironic timing the article post officiating costing United 3 points yet it seems readers are so biased they can't see the woods for the trees. It begs the question, are any of you educated in the world of logic?

All it takes is 3 or 4 decisions to go to one of the better teams way to decide a league title. The FA was set up by free masons. Man Utd are big business and people make a living from their massive fan base. It isn't hard to put 2 and 2 together. Alex Ferguson is a disgrace.

donny, I have watched United for over forty years and I can honestly put my hand on my heart and say that in no way do I even remotely believe that United have been favoured by referees. I can think of dozens of occasions where we have been robbed by bad decisions and I can think of dozens of occasions where we have benefited by bad decisions. But that is what they are, bad decisions.

When other teams and fans start talking of conspiracies they are already in big trouble. They should just fecking knuckle down and get on with it instead of self pity and whining imo.

Fans will always see it the way they want to.

At Anfield a couple of weeks ago we were into the eighth minute of added time with United hanging on. Nobody mentioned that did they? Had we been losing and scored in that added time there would have been meltdown on here, especially as it was much more than the board showed at the end of 90 mins.

Can you imagine if United had scored the "Aguero" goal??!!! People would have gone mad and examined where the extra time came from etc etc. In my eyes City just kept going, played to the whistle and scored before the ref blew for the end of the match. I wouldn't dream of whingeing about it. Good luck to them, we have been scored late goals for years.

Spot on Peter. What was it at Anfield, 7 added and into 8 and a half. Not a whisper of that on here. ABUs are just victims of mass groupthink. It's a crazy nation but the more they bounce the mad concept to one another the more bit by bit they feel they've added fact to the fiction and soon they'll believe it so much that they end up embarrassing themselves by trying to justify it, and hey presto you have an article of nonsense and the ABUs grasp onto it and the cycle starts again. No mention of the 8 and a half minutes at Anfield, the blatant pens not given to us versus Spurs.

i've been watching since 1970, over the whole time i think it evens itself out, but if fergie didnt see an advantage , no matter how slight, in making a statement, do you think he would make it

after all he is a master of mind games.....

whether it is to put that fear into opponents to make them wilt under pressure more quickly or onto referees, or even both, .... perhaps even he might not be 100% sure , but as it works , he can keep doing it !!!

if he becomes unpopular outside of club circles i doubt very much he cares, as the vast majority of the people he respects have even more respect for him.

Of course he is going to make comments if he believes it will help United. As a fan I would be annoyed if he didn't.

Other managers do it in their own way as well.

I think you will find 5 minutes were added despite Kellys injury which the referee stated was 4 minutes alone for treatment & being strechered off. There was also 5 subs & a red card. Don't let the truth get in the way.

And the game you referred to was the most disgusting referee performance of all time. A red which wasn't, 2 red cards should have been given to MU by the same criteria (Van Persies was the worst of the lot), 2 stonewall pens denied for LFC & another dive earnt a pen for MU. Yet Halsey has 2 PL fixtures.

Face it chaps we all know any ref that does not meet with Fergies approval is given very short shrift.

Other managers are ignored because they don't have clubs with large fan bases around the world like Man urd, it's not like they will lose their jobs if the manager of Wigan criticises ... no need to appease his cries of unfair play.
By:

When: 03 Oct 12 15:51
newco,

Yes I will always look at it from United's point of view. If United have benefited from an obvious dubious decision I will always accept that is the case but will take it. If we suffer from a dubious decision then so be it, we have to accept that too. Both are just bad decisions.

There is no point talking about conspiracies and whining about it for weeks, months and even years as some fans do.
