Aberdeen season tickets are already up on last season and considering the dross we have had to watch thats good going.

Now MAC i realise you are pretty fair minded but surely you can see this guy Green is another chancer, only he is more cunning than Whyte.

Mind you its not much of a choice is it.Bomber(show me the deeds)Brown or Green.

I still think Whyte and Ticketus will suddenly re-appear.

Charlatan and eejit; Please tell me to whom the Rangers assets should have been sold to and for what purpose? Are you suggesting they should be sold to a company who would knock down the stadium and build blocks of flats and/or a multi-story car park? Do you really believe that would be in the best interest of Scotland and it's taxpayers? The death of a football club that generates millions of pounds to our economy on an ongoing basis.

You are being ridiculous, obviously this is a special circumstance; obviously a huge club like Rangers cannot be allowed to go to the wall - in the same way the banks were not allowed to go to the wall.

I'd be fairly certain that if they offered those assets to any of Rangers' creditors on the condition that they had to be rented back to Newco there'd be a queue willing to pay a lot more than 1.5 mill.

Just saw Green's statement.
"“I think justice has been done. The club were fined 10 points,- Correct, but meaningless, it did not affect their 2nd placeit received an £190,000 fine, it was then put out the SPL,
No it wasn't, they are in the process of being liquidated it was then put down to the Third Division,-No it wasn't, a new club has to apply to the sfl it has had to pay all the Scottish club debts, which wouldn’t normally happen for a newco to be obliged to pay oldco’s debts.- Yes, and a newco should have competed with Spartans, Cove etc. for the league place, maybe that was the price?

The assets were sold to Green for next to nothing because he'd almost certainly already struck a deal with Whyte who'd be getting a golden handshake.

high_lander, if a company took money off people when they were already aware they were going out of business (as in the Farepak & Rangers cases) then I'd call that fraud and I'd certainly think it unfair they were allowed to exit with their private wealth intact. Only a tory would disagree.
...............

I agree Feck, but it's notoriously difficult to prove.

Oh by the way, "SPL lodge".....LaughLaughLaugh

Shuda: We have Mr Green in charge whether we like it or not, we have to give him a chance as he was the only investor to step forward in our time of need.
I seem to remember the tic support up in arms & full of suspicion when wee Fergus rolled into town all those years ago.
He did a good job for Celtic though some tic fans still harbour ill feeling`s towards him.

Liam : We will be called "The Rangers" by the time the Falkirk tie comes round, I see there are still tickets available for Celtic fans for Saturday`s game v Aberdeen.

If you are called "the rangers", just watch out that Hector maybe thinks you are the same company, and will want his 80 mill or so.

Can't see Celtic fans singing "not by the Hearts, the Hibs or the The Rangers". Better sticking with Newco or Sevco imo.

I think he has already proved it, rangers are appealing it.
Just remember the taxmans 11th commandment, "thou shalt not get away with it".

In regards to the 10 points, they went from 4 points behind to 14 (I think) which took away any chance they had of another tainted title. The momentum was with Celtic at that point anyway, but that was still a punishment in my view.

10 points seems to work well enough in England, maybe due to leagues being more competitive. Teams still work it to their advantage at times though.

What is the alternative? 20 points? Demotion of places? If Rangers had been demoted to 3rd or 4th then some would still say that made no difference. A fine seems pointless. Transfer embargo?

Discretion in this matter is not an option. Those in charge are gutless and incompetent. If they ever made a decision, they would be accused of bias from one side or other.

There has to be a hard and fast rule for everybody, so what should it be?

This whole episode has shocked me most in regard to liquidation/company law. The new Rangers get the assets while the public and small businesses pick up the tab.

What is going on with the big tax case anyway? It has gone quiet on that front.

LAWWELL VOTED ON TO NEW LOOK SFA BOARD
Posted on Tuesday, 19th July 2011 by Joe McHugh
Peter Lawwell has been voted onto the new look Professional Game Board of the SFA brought into force following last month’s AGM which outlined widespread changes in the running of the game.
With the old committee structure blown away two new bodies have been created to look after the professional and the non-professional side of the game.
Lawwell has been voted onto the nine man Professional Game Board which will be chaired by Rod Petrie of Hibs. All of the big hitters in the game are on the board including the Chief Executive’s of the SFA, SPL and SFL in the shape of Stewart Regan, Neil Doncaster and David Longmuir. SFA President Campbell Ogilvie is also on the board.
It is expected that the mysterious working and bizarre punishments of the old regime will be replaced by a new era of transparency and accountability with the presence of Lawwell and others almost certain to ensure that the recommendations of the McLeish Report are followed through.
Rangers recent takeover and boardroom turmoil means that there are no representatives of the Ibrox club involved.
Strangely four members of the Professional board will also sit on the board of the Non Professional Game Board with Regan, Petrie, Ogilvie and Alan McRae enjoying double dunts.

......................................................................

Oh Yes, I remember now.

BTW... Sky only agreed to the 5 year deal when "The Rangers" were confirmed as part of the package.

I never saw the banner in question on Subday, Im not sure it is a subject I want to comment on either. I am vaguely aware of what happened all those years ago but I would`nt hold the actions of some against a club or the decent members of its support.

Please tell me to whom the Rangers assets should have been sold to and for what purpose?

murray park should have been sold for housing (subject to planning sanity presumably as apartments with no accomodation on the ground floor since they built it on a flood plain judging by the time i walked past) or bought by the council or a private school (or two) or a university and used as a sports facility.

ibrox is more tricky but if it had been up on the market for £2m don't you reckon someone would have found a use for it? if you scrapped the whole thing what would the materials alone be worth, never mind the land that was left over (even if you were just going to stick warehouses or something on it)?

but feck's idea makes more sense as far as ibrox is concerned.
