Interesting comparison with Messi going to Mallorca. When Maradona went to Napoli he had his pick of clubs in the world's strongest league - Milan, Juve, Inter and he chose a club that offered him the greatest personal challenge. Fair play to him for that.

I feel that if Messi was playing in the PL the English media would be hailing him as a God,but because he is playing in another country his worth is somehow diminished.I find that most of the people who try and deny how good he really is are united fans(for whatever reason)I watched Maradona, Pele,Cruyff and I really do think Messi is the best ever!

Players are judged as the greatest etc when they have finished playing but Messi is right up there and possibly has around 10 years left if he stays injury free.
Tackles used to be more cynical when Maradona,Pele etc played but it's now turning into a non contact sport making it easier for the flair players to show what they can do. |
