Yes very impressed with both openers although both looked like they might not last. Good tic tacs and cricket from England. They have obviously thought about it and have been practicing the sweep.
Good to see. Well done England. |
By:
Tbf to Harmison I might have taken that points deduction out of context
Bottom line is we have greener pitches in England |
By:
Will Jacks did not want to tour without a Central Contract? Fair enough although disappointing
By:
Yeah Harrison ashley said it is wrong to fine a County for a spinning pitch, apologies Mr Harmison!
By:
I also read reports that this is a black soil pitch and another report that said it is red soil
By:
it's certainly not red soil...
By:
I thought if a black soil pitch, more bounce.
Have to say I am disappointed to see Bumrah bowl so little. I prefer a faster pitch Not blaming the umpire for that decision I like Pope. He looked sketchy when he started but his confidence is growing |

It looked leg side to me first up.

Goddam
Just contemplating under 319! They are talking reverse swing in the radio. I think they might be right! |
By:
Ironic Bumrah just tucked me up but I love watching him bowl, one of the great sights in Cricket
By:
TV comms behind on the reverse issue. Siraj on now
Ok they are on it now but Jarrod Kimber noted it first! |
By:
That stump went flying!
By:
top class stuff from the Bumrah...
By:
Damn, some bowling this.
Well played India, flipping things around. |
By:
Foot's in the air, for me but impossible to give.
By:
Excellent from Pope and Foakes. Both look very comfortable
By:
quite a blessing for England, a Pope ton...

Second innings ton!
Excellent application. Spirited performance by England. Not going to jinx it yet….. but |
By:
Foakes showing his worth too, excellent technique.
By:
yep good stuff... a classic fold was on the cards...
By:
Second innings ton from a guy who averages around minus seven in second innings digs in Tests, at that!
By:
...who also looked hellish for 11 balls first up.
Sublime. |
By:
And just when the hope firmly took hold again, Foakes gets grubbed.
Ah well, far better viewing than yesterday... |
By:
could do with Monty and Swanny and you'd give us a real chance..
By:
Yup, too true.
With the best will in the world, I cannot imagine Rehan and Hartley keeping a lid on anything - and Leach is crocked. If we could get 50/60 overs at them we'd be in with a great shout but long hops and beamers won't allow that. An utterly inexplicable 2nd innings Pope double ton and we can have a serious chat |
By:
what a knock from Ollie...well played Sir..great effort from England in the circs
By:
148* by Pope is the highest by a visiting batter in second innings vs India in India since Alastair Cook's 176 in Ahmedabad in 2012 which incidentally came in the first Test of India's last series defeat at home.

England have scored 57 runs with the reverse sweep so far in this Test - the most in a Test by any team since records began.

Yes they have certainly done their homework in the Brains Trust.
Dare I say it… I will not jinx it. The pitch is slowed but spinning more now and the surface is being disturbed. Indian batsmen can play on this surface but if the pitch does not did it will break up. Whilst we need to put runs on the board batting time is also important and Foakes did a great job. India earned their wickets bowling bug threw them away when batting. Luckily it would appear Bumrah saved me from an under 319.5 back I think England got to 60/1 bug J cannot back them at 6 |

By:
This hs exciting
I love this game Stan |
By:
This is crazy
Engerland at 6.2? I am just going to watch and enjoy |
By:
This is awesome
Bit of bounce here ![]() Morning, WD |

Comms put the mockers on Rehan. Good knock.
Same again from Hartley, svp |

Morning Apt
A little cheeky from Bumrah. I like a bit of devil bug that was a low blow imho I just love watching him bowl though Smart man too . I wound gave taken the new ball. Ahmed looks decent but needs to tighten up on both his batting and bowling. He is a prospect and really hard to pick. I think the tail will perish shortly now |
By:
I like KP
When he is big talking bollo he has a good understanding of the game imho |
By:
I think India are rattled, bowlers and Captain
It will be interesting to see how they prepare pitches for the rest of the series. India have the better seamers too I just would like to see faster pitches |
