I still think that England will probably bat until tea tomorrow with about 300 runs to show for it. SA will either collapse which is highly unlikely or bat until the fourth day lunch break to get 350. Draw looks favourite from there.

By:
very much doubt it sage but if you really fancy it get on it at 5's!
By:
I would have thought Vern could bowl straight and get some success.
Good pitch for LBWs and chips in the air. |
By:
Jumped the gun at lower but just had some 4.6.

Nice to see the draw price in play late on Day 1. Too often it's double figures
by now. |
By:
Back to 4 already. What has changed in 2 overs!
By:
I would have the 3 outcomes at about the same price at the moment. SA have at least as good a chance as England surely?
By:
Batting last a problem sage (if SA do!)
Scores tend to get lower on this ground as the match goes on. |
By:
Good luck to you Sage!
You might well get sub 3's if this goes on! I just want England to bat SA out of this for now. I have the draw covered. Glad I did now! |
By:
You might be right sage although I don't want to jinx anything the draw must fall as SA price is on the run. 400 still possible from here although highly unlikely. As I said as long as we get 300+ I think I will be happy. I don't care about time or the run rate. This all augurs well for the next Test too as long as we are not in the field for two days.

love the brass band
love the draw plunge |

1t session tomorrow (as always) will potentially determine the game ... if England still batting by lunch 300+ will be a decent score .. 350+ & they surely won't lose. Spin is the key factor as the game progresses ... its a dry pitch & the turn likely to be more pronounced. If the Saffers are chasing 250 or more in the final innings then I can't see it
By:
I would still guess England 300-330, SA 320-350 and not finished the first 2 innings until day 4 lunch or later. Very slow scoring but not much help for bowlers.

Does anyone know if his fatness Mr. Ian Smith also commentates on Rugby? Been watching a lot of rugby lately and can't help but notice there's a comm in some games with a very similar voice.
By:
It certainly is Mr.Smith he has being doing rugby for some years
By:
F*ck me look at the draw
is it raining down there? |
By:
Popped in to see whether anyone was answering that question, rather than asking it!
Lots of trading yesterday for a nicely green position on the 4th wicket then a fairly poor one at close. |
By:
Its corrected now but down at 2.62 seemed premature FS especially as its apparently been spinning more on day 1 in SA than any other recorded game since 2007 or something. I read that in a tweet but I've lost the tweet.

& Aus are bowling in India!

Loads of chunky draw back orders lining up.....there could be a 2nd wave of draw love any second. Or it could be pure manipulation.

It seems it has been raining!#

Never heard anyone suggest rain was in the offing!
Shafted some this has. |
By:
Covers came off and now being put back on!
By:
Rain was mentioned several times yesterday for this morning.
By:
I have laid off some of my draw bets in case the ball moves around this morning.
By:
Raining heavier now!
By:
Restart 15 mins.
By:
Here we go. the first 5 overs will tell us a lot.
By:
The barmy army are still awake this morning.
By:
wow! 2.5 the draw already! Why? A full day play likely and the overcast conditions could paly a part later. I have laid off a bit of my draw bets from yesterday and will continue to do so.
By:
confident start by england this morning ... quick runs & the total soon starts to rise which is dispiriting for the opposition
By:
That was a steep draw plunge we've just had.
By:
Agreed. I will be laying the rest of my bet soon if it goes below 2. You never know what England's bowlers might do as we saw in the last game although without Anderson and Archer they look very light to me. hang on is it raining again?
By:
Very hard on Rabada to miss the fifth test for celebrating a clean bowled. Imagine if they imposed that on footballers. Every scorer would be sent off.
By:
Stupid and over zealous. That wicket meant a lot for him and for SA on a dead wicket. I love all that!
By:
Almost as if some know its gonna rain again.

Sage you are a Profit ! |
By:
I also did say this England innings could have a huge impact on the game at Joberg! Even moreso now. I would have had SA as favourites on that wicket!
By:
Pope look a real find for England & with Sibley the batting might be on an upward curve ... bowling is a concern longer term as Anderson & Broad won't be around for ever
