you're assuming they aren't bowled out by stumps?

even getting 300...its a day's batting
5th day pitch GL with that 1 |

Its just making it easier for Aus this

Aussie ought to go defensive now

Laugh Eng in big trouble now their bowlers doing their 'steadfast' batsmen up like a kipper |
|
By:
Draw will be 50s by stumps
|
|

Right... and neither England or Australia realise right? You know better than both teams. I swear some people must be delusioned by being in deep on the wrong prices |

Still don't think you grasped it Hamlin

No, neither has Paine... Root, Smith and all the commentators and players on the field. Only you and a handful on here have grasped that Aussie should be giving their wickets away as a tactic

market won't think 300 is impossible though especially after last week. won't be getting 5 or 6/1 that's for sure

Imagine Aus batted out today, took England win out of the equation and declared tomorrow
Odds were; Aus 2.0 Draw 2.0 England 1000 Now imagine they're bowled out for another 60 runs and take draw out of the equation Aus 1.5 England 3.0 Draw 1000 Aus chances of winning have increased massively but which position would they prefer to be in? |
|
By:
England foot will go off the pedal once broad and archers spells finish
|
|
By:
that's a different argument though T3 & well-made
chances of winning the match & chances of winning the series they're not aligned in this game |
|
By:
I think Aus chances of winning increase if they are bowled out cheaply. I don't expect much from England batting last.
|
|
By:
Root needs to get Leach on and rotate at the other end. If he goes Stokes and Overton its advantage Australia
|
|
By:
lol wonders sucking up real bad there. Looking for brownie points.
|
|
By:
I get what your saying Tom, but I don't think those odds are accurate, and I think Aus are scared of a repeat. Eng bowl Aus out and set a target of 300 then Eng win/draw is odds on. No early wickets for Aus means defensive bowling.

surely even root isn't daft enough not to go to leach. at very least he should be able to dry up runs and prolong the declaration
lot of pressure on lyon tomorrow. bowled poorly and hardly got a wicket since edgbaston |

*in fact mathematically its close for aus also

Whisper I disagree, I think you just mean chances of draw decrease with each wicket. The best case scenario for Aussies is they get to 330 lead without losing any more wickets then just hit out. More runs to play with means they can set more aggressive fields. I agree England can’t chase 300+ (I wouldn’t trust to chase 200). But Aussies will feel the pressure too if they game is theoretically in the balance

By:
what have I missed? |
|
By:
whispering, vic had to explain to alison few mins back what you said about aus chances of winning increased
she didnt understand |
|
By:
If Aus get close to being bowled out for a mere 60 more runs they will prolong the game. Brings the drawn down. Why do you think Eng are risking the higher chance of losing instead of getting the draw then? That doesn't make sense? Wickets slow the run rate... doesn't mean you have to bowl them out today.
