If wickets only help Aussie, why are England trying to get them and why are Aussies trying to stop us bowling them out? Its really that simple.

It's not that wickets help Australia as much it's that it can increase their chance of winning by preventing them from playing for the draw or by batting on too long and making a overly defensive declaration.
The best chance for Australia to win would be for them to score around 150 and set England 350 to win.
There's not much chance of them declaring on that total, so if they were bowled out for 150 it would be best for their chances of winning.
You could argue that being bowled out for 120 increases it even more

say they get bowled for out 150 in another 40 overs england will need 350 in something like 90 to 95 overs. draw price ain't going out with washing until england bat unless staggering collapse here

I get that tom, but if they give Eng a day to score anything less than 350 then momentum will be with Eng and Paine will fear another shocking loss

I reckon Aussies need to get to 330 lead to make draw even a possibility. Need 380 to make draw more likely that England win. A lot of time left in this game, pitch has runs in it so if England bat out the 90 overs tomorrow they'll probably score at 4 an over at least IMO. Either way I look at it, unless Aussies get skittled for
