8.00 though, nobody can seriously believe this is a ~60-70 pitch. Defo in bowlers favour, but nothing like this. 7.60 clearly taking the piss........

it's a combination of things Grant.
Firstly Broad has got flow/ in the zone and is producing one of those inspired spells he's capable of. It has been very very good bowling. Couple that with indifferent technique for the conditions and you get this. Rogers was key for me. Had he hung around for the first 16 to 20 overs and protected an end, 80-3 at lunch with him still at the crease would be a pretty good result for this wicket and the toss, and allow Aus to consolidate after lunch in easier conditions. |

Don't forget how we played in Australia. We tend to forget that despite all the sports science etc, they are playing when their body clock says it is the middle of the night, the weather is colder than it ever is there and the wickets are totally different. If playing away at football is a disadvantage, in cricket between England and Australia it is a massive factor and by far the most important decider of the result. Having said all that, this batting effort has been pathetic.

i think the wickets are the biggest factor. you could easily say that english players learning how to leave on length is something you have to develop to play in australia, and that playing later and toughing out the nibbling ball is a skill Australian's have to develop in england.
you would hope that the Australians have adjusted their body clocks by now, given that they've been over here for months. |

Feel 0/20 will be 13.00+ based on these odds. Think should be there already, but any non wicket ball has to push odds in a direct line north, or up at least....
